I have some Supertech goggles and tear offs on the way. I might have them as soon as today, But looks like Monday. I only got one pair for right now. I am going to do a video on them and compare them to Scott Prospect and 100% Armega's and see how I like them. I've been wearing Prospects for a while , but I wear Alpinestars Helmets so I am interested in seeing how they work together. I am excited to see them. And depending on the feedback I get from customers and how I see and feel they are different , I plan on stocking them all.
100% goggles are so affordable and common. So those are the most popular around here. For people to change from 10% after they have boxes of extra stuff. The Alpinestars Goggles will have to provide some benefit's over them. As far as my customers go, I sell a lot of the helmets so I feel like the selling point might be how well they work with the helmets. Since I imagine they developed the goggles with their helmets . And the Supertech model looks like it is built differently than most other goggles. That is why I wanted to get that one first. I want to see if they are as good as they look. Or just a filler product so that they have a head to toe line.

The fit is a bit different than the armega. It’s a little shorter top to bottom so they should fit well in more helmets. The nose is a little more contoured too so if the armega pinched your nose these seem better. I’d race in them this weekend but I couldn’t get tear offs in time. I’d say the lens is a hair easier to swap too and all their mirrored lenses are the filtered type so it’s the same as the Hiper or prizm lenses.
Here’s a couple comparison shots. It’s hard to tell but the foam is a little more curved on the supertech. The strap is also doesn’t have as much tension on the supertech which I noticed when putting them on. It takes a bit of effort to stretch the armega over your helmet but I had to take more slack up on the astars to get a good seal to my face.

I got that same color. It was in my order I built before they pulled them off the site so I( was able to get it shipped as soon as it was OK to. . Now that I am seeing it everywhere I kind of wish I got a different color. But I have a Red Bull design on one of my helmets and it looks good on that.
The pinching of the nose seems to be the biggest complaint about 100% that I get. So that should be another good option for riders that have that problem . The Laminated tear offs were not in stock yet so I have the standard ones coming. I prefer laminated but customers buy the regular more often so that's not a problem. Its good to see a decent amount of regular tear offs in stock and lens options. I like a blue tinted lens , How is the blue mirrored lens? Is it similar to the clear blue? That's what I was hoping since the non mirror blue tint was not in stock.
I am still wearing the older style SM8/SM10 not the new one. But I don't think that will impact the way the goggles fit. I have templated the new shell for helmet wraps and The molding around the goggle opening was so similar that I only had to change the lower part of the chin bar template.
I have heard that 100% are made in the same factory as Oakley. Is that what You mean?
The Supertech models are not a copy of any other goggle as far as I am aware.
Hunter had been using EKS brand Lucid goggles with an Alpinestars strap at first. But that is NOT what these are. They are their own goggles. Just as much as 100% is 100%'s . There may be some similarities between these and the Oakley Air brake , EKS Lucid, Scott Prospect , or 100% Armega . But they are more than a logo stuck onto some other brands goggles.
FMF uses the 1st generation 100% lenses for their line of goggles. Those might be considered a rebrand the way I would use the term. As well as the FXR goggles that use an EKS Lucid with FXR strap.
I am a decent photographer and learning video. I will get some very detailed close up images of the Supertech model and I can post them on here if anybody cares to see them. I can make comparisons to any other brands and models if somebody wants me to include them in my video. I have Scott Prospect and 100% Armega's here . But I can find and compare high res images of the Oakley and EKS brand goggles too. If anybody has any interest. I'm going to do a video on them for fun and practice making videos so I'll still make it even if nobody wants to watch. I think that it is worth doing since there seems to be some misinformation and confusion about them.
Is WPS going to have them too or just PU ? I assumed that WPS would get them too since they have the gear. I think that at first a lot of people are going to be confused on the details of these. And think they are just the EKS with a strap like they were for a while.
But I would think that they made it pretty clear to the reps what they are and are not. They did an entire intro for just the goggles.

We will be exclusive with them. WPS also doesn't sell the MX gear anymore, that is only direct from astars.
Astars may have shot themselves in the foot on that gear decision. All the local dealers are dropping them because the minimum order is too high.
I've always wondered why Parts Unlimited did not have the gear too in the US. In the past at least they have had the gear in Europe and Canada. I saw the 25 MX gear on the Euro PU site. So I would guess it will continue?

I’m pretty sure that was a decision by WPS to drop the line.
What you have to remember is most gear brands are sold by the company or distributor that owns them which means you have one less level of markup. With moto gear being a new thing every season you have a lot of closing out old gear. If you don’t own the brand then your actual cost for the gear is far higher than if you are producing it yourself. I truly don’t know the reason PU hasn’t sold it in the US but I have to think that is the main reason and very likely the reason that WPS has quit selling it. This is only my opinion so the real reasons could be very different so I don’t need JT or anyone yelling at me haha!

I could have sworn Astars gear was in the PU catalog for a few years? Appears now it's down to just helmets, goggles, and things like protectors and base layers.

We have the offroad line but not mototcross. That line also stays the same for several seasons.
I just got my Supertech Goggles in. The box looks like they used a 100% Armega box with the magnetic opening front. They say they are made in Vietnam while 100% is made in China.
First impression is they are insanely easy to swap a lens , and do it without finger prints. It took me about 10 seconds to learn the process and be able to do it while videoing it myself, and not get the lens covered in finger prints. Unlike most other goggles. They fit my face better than any other goggle I have tried. Yes I will be selling them, But I already have a customer base that has 100% and Scott and multiple pairs on the shelves here for sale and only a single pair of the Supertech. So It's not as much of an impact on my opinion as You may think. I could just keep selling the 100% stuff and say the Alpinestars were not better.
The biggest question I have after popping the lens in and out a few times, is if that could be an issue at all. EKS brands lucid uses a very similar system , and they have been out a few years. So hopefully that is not a problem.
Fit and finish are better than the 100% Armega in my opinion. The way the foam is wrapped with the thin felt layer gives it a more high end feel. And looks like it may trap sweat in the foam better than other goggles. The Armega and Supertech both have a blue mirror tinted lens. And in the office , the Supertech feels like it is much clearer . The Armega tint is darker though.
My tear offs were delayed in shipping so I am on the fence about using them before they come or not. But I am very happy with them. And I'll post some close up images later on today or tomorrow. That point out some of the things I noticed that I think people may like. I have not had a pair of Oakley Air brakes in my hands in a while. So I'm not sure how I would compare them to the Supertech.
Just my opinion. But if You are in the market for a new goggle system, I would give them a look. For me , I have been wearing Scott Prospects for years now. But my first impression after playing around with them and trying them on but before wearing them out on a bike or my SXS, is that I'll be buying some more Alpinestars goggles. They do not feel like a product made to fill a hole in a lineup. They feel legit.

Just checked Parts Unlimited inventory. Already loaded, in stock, and ready to ship.

should we start an Astars broken lenses thread? 😏
