Wow, i think you just won best picture of the thread with that one.

That pic brings back a memory. In the late 90's I got to take a plane ride at night in my first wives uncles little 4 seater over San Francisco bay when the fog was rolling in. It was so neat to be above the clouds with the lights shining through.   🙂

Came across it on one of the telescope sites I follow.

Photographer said he set up during a meteor shower, but had no idea he'd get such a, once in a lifetime, shot.

That’s a proper Jaguar?

Clean up was fairly quick.  Blake took these drone photos two days after. Still no word form Union Pacific.
Locals that seen it happen said the train was moving faster than normal when it derailed. 




Marshalltown also had a train derailment just 6 days after. This one was a coal train.

Current situation

The 3rd & 5th pictures tell me that trails probably gnarlier than it looks in these photos ? 

Actually, the first picture held the biggest challenge of the day.

Sharp left turn.

Outside and inside lines weren't an option.

No run up, on stair steps as almost as deep as my 33" tyres.

Slow torqued right up the middle, barely slipped a wheel.

A lifetime on two wheels, transfers quite well to line selection, and throttle control on four.

A wider shot.

Thats not a passenger tire friendly trail. Those embedded rocks will slice and dice,... instant flat tire on some steep slope...you'll ride the rim till you hit a flat spot for a tire change. 

Did that on my S-10 on some sharp basalt rock. Luckily I was able to dress up the aluminum rim when it took some damage.

But out in the middle of frikkin nowhere, worth every penny.

9-10lbs psi, the things are like velcro.

Been there a couple times, It's a really nice experience.    One time for a "Happy Hour" event for adults only... cocktails and hors-d'œuvres.   

The view is exceptional from there.   

Weekend's shaping up nicely. Spur of the moment (3pm) decision to go to big bear tomorrow, high temp 78, sold.
