Harris-Walz 2024

8/11/2024 9:55am

So I read Harris is now promoting "no tax on tips". I suppose some here will claim that's a Harris thing just lIke they tried to claim $35 insulin was a Biden thing. Come up with your own ideas folks.

This actually kind of pisses me off that the GOP has Trump…he’s likely the only republican in the country who might actually lose to these idiots on the DNC ticket…so because of some weird allegiance to Trump, we stand a very good chance of getting radical woke socialists in the White House…

Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio…heck, Mitt-basically a Democrat-Romney, etc etc would mop the floor with Harris/Walz…but we get Trump…so disappointing…betting on Trump has a very good chance to push America exponentially closer to a socialist state in four years than it has moved in my lifetime.

I cannot wait for the Trump era to be over…win this election (please God make that happen) or lose…at least the GOP can move beyond Trump after it’s over.

“Trump Exhaustion” is real and gaining momentum.  Negative campaigning has existed since the first election, but the petulant fear & hate rhetoric w/o a semblance of hope has people searching for an escape route.

As for Harris, the same (and almost exact same) socialist arguments were made during the Obama Administration.  Yet the economy roared for nearly 8 years and zero constitutional rights were rescinded.  Again, the fear of what might happen is overwhelming many voters, when reality & history shows those fears are unlikely to reach fruition.

You know the old saying, how did you go bankrupt?.... slow at first and then all at once.

That's what we're seeing now with the degradation of our civil liberties and the slide into massive government overreach. It would be impossible to really pinpoint when it really started, but I think Obama was definitely when it got clicked into the next gear, and I think that if they somehow get Harris in, then will be at the "all at once" phase of the process.

Do you think that the UK 10 years ago saw the crackdown on free speech with these so called "hate speech laws". Do you think the list of what's defined as "hate" will stay the same, or continually grow?

What about Canada outright censoring the internet to it's citizens.

You need to stop these things before they start. Once the camel gets it's nose under the tent....

Cool as Jazz Fence-Sitter Guy!  I like it!  Plus you think I’m cool!  Thanks, Tres!

And you are correct:  as a lifelong Republican who dislikes Trump, I sit upon a gnarled and thorny fence.  Like you, I want low taxes, strong borders, and staying out of nasty international conflicts.  Unlike you I do not sense that my civil liberties are at risk, and forecasting such doom & gloom is counterproductive to achieving my goals.

There’s reality, and then there’s what we want reality to be.  I’m not relying on D.C. to solve my problems, and any attempt to rescind civil liberties here in Texas would be met with swift and stiff resistance.  Because the state you live in has a greater impact on you and your family’s lives than who resides in the White House.

Do me a favor, Tres. Write down your goals  and define if a Donald Trump presidency is required to attain them.  Remember, goal attainment cannot be based on hypotheticals nor extenuating circumstances (i.e. Russia invaded Ukraine, and now my YZF won’t start.  Damn you, Putin!).  Like most on the board, I think you’ll find that the person living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave does not have a significant impact on our lives.

That's the Ddemocrats trick. Steal what Trump says then clain aso their own and if elected never do anything with it. But so many fall for it.

Remember, TM:  no hypotheticals. Pundits have forecasted WWIII since, well, WWII ended.  And yet here we are.

Also, both world wars were conducted by foes with comparable military forces. Russia would lose a global conflict in weeks, if not days.  And they know it. Yes, Putin’s nuclear threats should be taken seriously (especially tactical nukes), but use of those weapons all but guarantees Putin’s demise.

Although I could see a scenario where China encourages a nuclear campaign, then swoops into Moscow to establish a puppet Beijing regime.  But if I can think it, the remnants of the politburo have already considered that hypothetical as well.

The part you didn't read, and the part she conveniently failed to mention was the piles of taxes and regulations she's going to impose on these same people first.

Buddy if Canada is socialist then so is nearly every country outside of the US lol. Our politics are also much less of a shitshow and much less entertaining. For instance, we don't have a convicted felon running for public office. We have a pompous ass as Pm and a complete douche running against him, that's just boring old politics.

In my case, its also inaccurate. My mortgage and groceries are my biggest bills, way more than my taxes.

Being paid on commission, I do get hit hard a few months out of the year when I make a lot of sales, but it balances out with my rebate at the end of the year. I'd rather pay more taxes than have to worry about my healthcare being taken away or denied by some greedy insurance company.

Here's some fun reading for you. My taxes aren't all that different from yours.

LB, I have a question:  what is going on with that bike in your profile pic?  Is it slathered in some sort of cleaning agent?  More importantly, are you running a Lectron?

Convicted felon, civilly liable rapist who has refused and will refuse to accept any election loss vs someone you might not agree with on every policy. Choice is obviously Harris and Walz this time around.

Why would you think he wouldn’t accept a loss in 2024 when he accepted one in 2020?

Did he not leave the White House on Inauguration Day, just like every other president before him?  Or did I miss that?
