Gypsy Tales/Glen Helen/ Bud Feldkamp Interview

The interview was published 4 years after it all went down and the words were printed by his buddy Jody. I figured this is even more accurate than an interview done by the old man 15 years after the fact. He said he ASSUMED (his words) Davey and Carrie would do something for the NPG after the bid was lost. It sounds like he ASSUMES he'll get his way all the time between this interview and Gypsy. Don't come crying when you don't get your way without working for it.

The older it gets, the better it was.

From what it looks like Bud ain't changing any time soon? In my line of work i deal with self made successful entrepreneurs all the time and they are the most difficult, erratic, emotional, demanding, prideful etc people I work with and it's very difficult to change them? They've got to where they are by being the way they are? Buds just doing what buds always done? He's made all the decisions using his ethics and so far it's all worked out.

But it could be so much better(national, better facility, better track, better community, more success etc)

Hopefully they work something out? 

Finally got to listen to the whole thing and I loved how Jace ended the interview by setting up Bud with the opportunity to be the 'good guy' and just say "eff it, lets make this race happen" which would basically force DC into putting them back on the schedule.  But instead Bud was not smart enough to do it (which would also have made him a ton of money which he very obviously does care about despite attempts to say the opposite).  

I also feel like someone told Bud to say 'fiduciary' a bunch and that it would make him sound smart.  If it was a drinking game I would have been under the table 5 minutes in. 

It's just sad that bud's feeble ego is the only thing getting in the way of what would likely be the biggest race of the year.  He should be kissing DC's ass for taking over and running the series and having it prosper which gives these track owners an amazing opportunity to put on world class races and make some serious coin at the same time.  If bud had anything to do with the running of the series the rest of the tracks would have probably thrown in the towel years ago.  

Listened to both of them again. To me, at least...

Agreed. Bud had no rebuttal and came off as a bitter man who feels he deserves more. Would his ego be crushed by agreeing to MX Sports' terms? Get over it...

This is 100% right.  I just listened to the whole interview with Bud and he comes across like a complete tool.  This along with the video of him pulling Tomac off the podium, his shenanigans at his own races (vet worlds etc) confirms Glen Helen is successful in spite of Bud and his poor direction rather than because of him.

Ridiculous that after all this time they can’t come to an agreement  for the sake of the sport. It’s no doubt a track that should be on the circuit and this is just tainting the legendary status of Glen Helen. I know I miss going to nationals and GP’s there.  

I agree it would be great if it came back, but "they" are not the problem, Bud is.
