Larry Brooks Team Manager of the Year

This disappoints me more than when Daughtry lost American Idol a few years back Woohoo

Congrats to RD1 and RD5 on what they accomplished this year. Congrats to Mitch for once again proving his dominance...I've never seen anything like that Lites main on Saturday...wow. Congrats to Pingree for what he's done over there at TLD/Lucas. Much respect to Throttle for dealing with many obstacles in his season so far with Valli, getting on the box and having a brilliant ride by Cunningham in Vegas. Congrats to J-Bone and J-Brayton for getting on the box and finishing the SX season with a top 5. All these guys are amazing individuals and don't need a cheesy award or superficial "Manager of the Year" title to gain the respect of anyone that knows this sport or industry.

Letting go of a guy who had a break out year (Chisholm) and having a guy drop outta the points race to outta the top 5, or having the star guy only finish 1 race is definitely not the guy for the job. They ought to atleast narrow the names in the hat before picking! I'm not a Brooks hater, but Feld dropped the ball on this one. They could've at least made it look like it was a contest. I thought the teams voted on the guy who gets this award?

I don't know if I'd agree with strangely underdressed, but Larry did seem more than a little surprised.

I also think you guys are targeting some anger in the wrong direction. There's no real need to bash Larry on this. I'd guess he enjoyed this year about as much as some of you did.

You're right, perhaps he's just a really big Jersey Shore fan.

Something is up, I bet he tells all tonight especially if he's a last minute addition.

There you go!

Yeah, seriously though. In this economy and with the limited budgets they have now, the accomplishments of teams like Valli, TLD, JGR, Rockstar Suzuki, who have all had podiums this year, speak for themselves.

Job well done this year gentlemen.

Now on to the real racing.

Not to mention all the privateer teams that had excellent seasons with limited support and budgets.

What did Brooks do, tell Stewart and Hill to ride injured??

Reed commented on his twitter that it was picked from a hat this year.. Sounds logical, there can't be any other explanation for it...
Team Manager of the Year, Larry Brooks! Wow, why would they give it to him now. I think everyone should listen to the Steve Matthes Show tonight to hear what Brooks has to say about it.

Chad Reed sure seemed to be happy about Larry Brooks winning this year or maybe not. If they picked names from a hat (like Reed said), Brooks' name must have been stuck in the hat from the past two years with his back to back Supercross class Championships. It's not that Larry Brooks should have won the Manager of the Year, but this year? A little late...........Strange!

Where is the line draw as far as occupational awards. You never here of the "Janitor of the Year" or "Outstanding achievement award for the best drywall taper". Never! Id be embarrassed if I were Brooks or Decoster and won such a meaningless award.

Although Mitch definately had a season for the ages I think the product he produces has come to be expected of him. Manager of the year hands down without a doubt should go to Ping. The dude took what amounts to an upstart team and flat out rocked the house. In my book top 3 should be.

Ping
Mitch
Larocco

I bet Larry Brooks would admit personally that this was probably his worst season as manager in his career threw no fault of his own.

Brooks seems like a complete asshole but...

In his defense, he took a rider(Hill) nobody else seemed to want, whiped him into the best shape of his life and turned him into a title threat till he injured his ribs. Hill is the most turned around rider on the circuit, and certainly Brooks must have had something to do with that.

Im pissed though, as I only just tuned into the Mathis show tonight and it sounds like Brooks is bagging on Hill for being a puss about his ribs.

*{i] now hes bagging on him again about possible party influences.....Brooks wont comit to resigning Hill....[/i]*

What's the point then? I forgot, everyone has to win something anymore.

Who gives a rats ass. Seriously. You clowns never complained about all the other dumb ass awards that are given out to people that do not deserve them. Why the big uproar now?

Larry said on Pulp mx that he was on his way out the door to go home and was floored when they announced his Name.

He was pretty much wondering why he got it this year and not the years he felt like he deserved it.

Hey guys
Either way he deserves it, so leave it at that. Mitch Payton has success but he will be the 1st to admit no championship is easy!

Maybe no one gave Hill a snowballs chance in hell being in a 3 way championship chase in the first 7 or 8 races probably.

Nothing else can think of.

The guy has deserved it in the past for sure, this maybe maybe not. Its not his fault James crashed out or that Hill went to sleep. He was just as frustrated with Hill as anyone.

I dont like the guy personally, but as a team manager he is all about bussiness and gets it done and should be awarded for it.

Has anyone stopped to think of everything he HAS managed this season. His has managed a huge ego, a huge entourage, a huge amount of money, a huge amount of sponsors and resources and last but not least, a huge amount of disappointment(Stewart out for SX). Some of that was sarcasm, but if you think about it......mmmmmm? Maybe he does deserve it, not sure I could put up with it. I think after the AMA execs saw Bubba's World, they made their choice.

Now on to the real racing.
L&M's accomplishments came at the beginning of the year with;
Anaheim 1 - Stewart 1st place
Phoenix, AZ - Josh Hill 3rd place
Anaheim 2 - Josh Hill 2nd place & James Stewart 3rd place
San Francisco - Josh Hill 2nd place
San Diego - Josh Hill 2nd place
Anaheim 3 - Josh Hill 2nd place
1 win and 7 podium finishes and all this happened in the first 6 races of the series.

This blows Valli, TLD and JGR away. So not sure what you were trying to say in your post. Maybe you have short term memory.

Out of our list, Rockstar Suzuki (Dungey) was the one team that did better than L&M and they were awarded a Championship and they deserved it.

Another question I have for you guys that are posting questions of why Larry Brooks received the Manager of the Year Award.

Why didn't I see any posts questioning why Forest Butler received the Manager of the Year in 2008? That's a bigger shocker than a Manager that has won Championships and built Championship team's.
