So with everything going on in my life right now regarding Jan and the cancer getting worse and she's in pain..... I have a pretty hard time of getting to sleep at a decent hour.

These grounding sheets and they also have grounding mats keep popping up on my FB feed.

There was some guy who demonstrated with his voltage meter that they really to work as far as grounding.

All my right side extremities (elbow, knee, ankle) have issues and if it helps with those along with sleep, who knows about tinnitus? I'm about ready to try anything.

Just curious if any of you guys have tried them.

Can't say anything about the sheets, but taking a magnesium L threonate supplement 30 mins before bed makes a noticeable difference for me.

Heard about it on an Andrew Hubberman interview/podcast

No but I heard that guy who transformed Dana White, Gary Brecka, talk about grounding and a bunch of other stuff to be healthy. Basically he recommends walking around outside with no shoes and socks for a bit every day.

Gary has quite the racket going on. For only $133,561 you can purchase his Superhuman Protocol, which for that low price they throw in a grounding matt for free. Dizzy

Fucking hell brother. I feel so bad for you and Jan today. During my time as Mrs TMs care giver (and a lot more), Ativan before bed was the go to.

I'm old enough to remember my old grandpa had what looked to be a horsecollar that had been electrified.  You put this 30lb thing over your head and it rested on you chest and abdomen.  Plug 'er in and feel the relief from heart palpitations, indigestion, bowel problems, ingrown toenails, anything and everything that ails ya.

Snake oil...been around since Og tweaked his knee at the last Mastodon hunt.

I do completely believe in the healing power of belief.  If I believe that something will help...it usually does.Blush

G-man...I'm sorry I didn't express my sorrow about your wife's condition.  I don't want to imagine that kind of pain for you or her.  I hope you have someone to lean on.  This is a heavy burden.  Peace brother.Blush

I am very sorry to hear about your wife and how hard this is for you both. I have no idea what that feels like but hope you both find solace and peace.

Items like these and the research around them is based in pseudoscience. Grounding your sheets has no therapeutical benefits other than the placebo effect. If you truly believe grounding your sheets will help you sleep, then it probably will have a calming effect on you because you believe it's working or some other placebo effect.

I hope I am not bursting your bubble about these grounding sheets if you were planning on buying them. I don't want to see people get scammed by assholes preying on the desperation of others.

Here are some real journal entries. When I read the abstracts, the first found no positive benefits and the second is bullshit when you scan the graphs and see that the placebo group scored better than the grounded group in nearly all areas.

In my view, if you want to walk around barefoot because you feel more connected to earth, maybe because you feel and appreciate the earth more or you feel some connection to those who came before who didn't have shoes, you should do that if it helps you. Other than that, 'grounding' through other methods is BS and people are making a lot of money off it.

Sorry I am no negative about this. A family member is hooked on this grounding shit and won't stop talking about it.

G-man.   I'm sorry to hear about what your wife AND you are going thru.    I've been there, it sucks to see someone you love suffer...it makes one feel so helpless.    Keep fighting the good fight.

As for the grounding thing.   I'm a skeptical SOB, it sounds like another way to prey on peoples need to help with an affliction.

Not being able to sleep well is a real problem, I hope you find a solution that works for you.

I'll just throw this out there....I don't reckon a man that digs ditches with a shovel for 8 or 10 hours a day has much trouble getting to sleep. Hard physical exercise always helps me sleep.

I always have two questions about these kinds of products, including the one that Dana White uses:

What is the physiological process by which this product works, and how is it different from the magnetic field generated by the Earth that our bodies experience literally all day?

What is the dose dependent response?

As for Dana White, 99% of his transformation is due to stopping alcohol, exercising consistently and rigorously, eating a healthy diet, and getting good quality sleep. These are all lifestyle changes that he has made and are well documented

The other stuff? Maybe 1%

First off, sorry to hear about your wife. I have seen a couple family members go through this, I wish the best for you both…

I bought the grounding mat from grounding well to try and get better sleep. I’ll be honest, I felt like I got better sleep for the first few nights. I had tested it with a meter and their claims are true as far as grounding you with the product.
I wasn’t sure if that really mattered but I was like you and willing to try anything to get better sleep.
I used it for at least 2 months and took it off a few days ago. Nothing changed…, I think the mind is a powerful thing and the placebo affect had me convinced it helped. Don’t waste your money !
