Chase is taking a page out of Rickys book. When Ricky new he was not as fast as James he upped his game off the track and got in way better shape than James. Chase seems to be doing the same. I have never seen a rider look as fresh after the second moto as Chase does! Jett better get in the best shape of his life when he gets back or Chase will run him down.

In outdoors Carmichael was straight up faster than Stewart. He also did that training regime to beat McGrath, he was in peak condition before Bubba moved up to the big boy class

Your comparison would've worked a lot better if you used Dungey instead of RC

Tell me you weren’t around 20 years ago without telling me

Chase was always fit. Take Jett away and he has no competition. He went 2-2 to Jett in nearly every event last year. Without Jett he was basically unbeatable last year.

I think Chase has been among the fittest and hardest trainers for a while. Dude is way more jacked than the average racer and always seems to be pushing as hard as he can at the back end of motos.

Jett isnt as fit. But he uses less energy with his riding style. He also manages his leads so he has something in the tank when he needs it. Usually Chase makes a mistake before Jett runs out of having anything to throw back. Only exception being Southwick where Jett barely looked able to finish the race let alone battle with Chase.

So I guess when Ricky says the only way he could beat Stewart was to be in better shape he is wrong also?

Lol, please provide the quote

Also, RC has been insanely humble in retirement almost to an obnoxious degree. Go watch every race from that 2006 outdoor season, RC had no problems running Stewart down and/or gapping him. James crashed his brains out on more than one occasion that season trying to keep up with RC

Supercross was a different story. James was faster than RC most of the time but Carmichael was more consistent and was in better shape

Respected a handful of guys when they we're on.

Do you ever listen to RC during the races, he says it all the time.

For sure Dunge is the closer comparison. Dunge was always super fit. He was patient and would sometimes take almost half the moto to get into the lead. But by the end of the moto, he would have 20sec on the guy in 2nd

He has never said that about James Stewart in outdoors, ever

To be Fair James was an absolute unit to start out 2006. He won the opener and then 2006 High point Moto 1 was legendary, the pace they pushed would be an easy 5th place or better in this current field in 2024. James finally broke away from RC and then the famous cross rut happened, next week southwick his bike blows up and slams him to the ground again. After that the rest of 2006 James was not the same. 2007 was epic with those two, RC obviously had the upper hand, he should have better bike and training and base fitness was unbelievable and most races were amazing.

When you watched RC in 2006, James pushed him into more mistakes than he had made from 02-05 combined. In a handful of races. It’s a shame the really only raced completely healthy and on 450s less then 12 motos in Motocross.

Let’s not forget the helpful elephant in the room. That program was refined to make someone almost unbeatable.

Thank you.

So many people seem to forget that our sport has two disciplines when discussing Carmichael vs Stewart.

"Stewart was faster, Carmichael was fitter and made less mistakes". Yes, in Supercross. Stewart was not the supernatural speed freak in MX that he was in SX. Yes, he was extremely fast, but he typically got ran down by Carmichael in every moto in which they battled, and he usually couldn't stay on his rear wheel for more than a lap after getting passed.

Carmichael probably could've gone 3 more years and won every MX title. Even in his swan song part-time season, he was dominating Stew.

SX is different... I think Stewart was winning those '07 and '09 titles, regardless of Carmichael's presence.
