With how much low end bark Yamaha gets from their 250 you have to assume a YZF350 would be amazing. I’d buy one tomorrow…

Everyone says that about buying a Blu Cru 350.  And I mean EVERYONE.  Yamaha couldn't even keep them on the showroom floors

Yep I'm with you on that one. I loved my yz250f but I'm just too fat for it now ha ha, and my 23 yz450f was just too much when the track got rough.

I personally think the 350 is the best engine size for majority of people but also realise the ktm isn't everyone's cup of tea.

How many signatures do you think we'd need for them to actually listen to the customer and build a 350 ha ha

How much can you detune the Yamaha 450, I wonder? I just can't see myself buying a 450 again

I think it is more about the weight and rotating mass of the 450 vs the outright bark

Makes sense. Good point. I feel way more agile on my 350 vs my KTM 450

I played around alot with mapping and gearing and you can definitely make it more manageable but it's still a 450. Awesome fun when the track is half decent but when it gets rough it's still a handful.

My favourite 450 is my 24 kx450. But again it's still a 450 and will never feel as light and nimble as a 350.

I favour handling over power so that's why my 350 is still my favourite.

Oh. My. God. KYBs are Gods gift to humanity. This is my favorite bike I’ve ever ridden. I decided to do some section work on the Main at Pala and good lord does this thing feel comfy with KYB inserts (350ml of fork oil) and the REP linkage. I still want to get triple clamps so I can move my bars forward for better control over the bike - but I recommend to everyone that they should try the KYB swap.

anybody got any tips for reducing vibration though? I felt a lot more vibration through my calves and hands at higher speeds — or do I just have to suck it up?

KTMs vibrate more in every engine size and model.   I don't know if it's the frame or the engine, but I only notice it when I switch between equal sized bikes.   For about a lap I feel my buddy's 150SX vibrate if I've been riding my YZ125...  Etc.

Since I ride a bunch of two strokes (YZ125, YZ250, KX500) and then hop on my 350F, I don't notice any increased vibration.

If it's speed related (not RPM related) it's entirely possible that it's in your suspension setting, tire setup and the track surface.
Unlikely a source of vibration, but if you have plenty of hold-up you can sometimes trade some HSC for LSC in the shock to get some comfort.

Which cartridges did you use in your forks?  Spring rate?
How did your install go?
I love to hear feedback and learn from what you guys are doing with the conversion kits.

I think it’s probably an RPM thing since the suspension felt fantastic. I was fully pinned out of the exists of turns and it tired me the hell out after just 3-4 motos. I’m way more sore today after a day of riding than I was riding my CRF450. The only other thing I can think of (from what I’ve read) is to slap some EVO bars on there. Does is even matter what brand of fatbar I get? Or will they perform the same?

I bought a set of 2020 Yz450 forks. They were tuned by REP but the sticker is so scratched I have no idea what the settings are. I also didn’t think to look on the springs when installing to see what rate they are. They do have a BUD spring seat, although I have no idea what that does to change the feel of them.

I poured 350ml of fork oil per your recommendation and rode it as is and I can’t imagine how much better it can get, because it felt essentially perfect.

Install was easy as I followed along your full length tutorial. I’m really grateful you made that video because I used to be intimidated to touch my suspension, but now I’m confident to do my own tuning (with your future guidance and studying of my own accord).

Also, your parts are immaculate! Thank you for creating this kit!

Keefer always says the OE Neken bars on the KTMs are terrible...  I haven't done a back to back comparison with Pro Taper or Renthal.

The Nekens are wide, especially when I switch to my other bikes with Pro Taper Evo (SX Race bend).
I might try a set of cut down Pro Taper bars from a Husqvarna.

It sounds like you lucked out on the valving and spring rate!
I have the REP linkage in my '23 GasGas (previous gen chassis) with a 45N/mm spring.  That linkage works as advertised.

Yeah get rid of those stock bars. I've tried pro taper evo and renthal fatbars, while they are not night and day different they are both slightly more comfortable than stock.

I really like the renthal 839 bend, they are very comfortable if you are a bit taller, around the 6 foot mark.

On some racedays i wish i was on a 450 but for general riding practice days or in the forest the 350 is much easier to ride.
