Ty in for 2025 PC Ride?

Edited Date/Time 7/7/2024 4:33pm

In the press conference, Ty stated he is putting in a base for next year. Did he leak he has a contract? Obviously a base is being set for 250's, so we can assume that is with PC?

He was talking about fitness I think, but he’s earned that ride for next year in my opinion.

I took it as he doesn’t know what 2025 will bring, but definitely deserves a ride!

He was talking about fitness. I asked this weekend and he doesn't have anything secured yet, but is working on it.

It's fair to assume if offered a contract with PC that he'd sign. Showing he can win and be towards the front opens even more doors. Triumph, and you guessed it, Star, to name just a few may be very interested. He turns 23 in November so he's good to go for a while.

Triumph is full and I really doubt he'd return to Star.

The only reason he isn’t signed to a factory team is his SX results. I don’t think anyone is beating down his door right now, but if he keeps on the same trajectory outdoors I hope Mitch rewards with a chance to ride that bike indoors.

Triumph giving a less seasoned Evan Ferry a shot, and Star giving everyone a shot it would be reasonable to think they're potential suiters.

They should be, because he can learn.  Those rollers were serious and he was the fastest 250 through them by far,  with some work he can translate that to whoop speed.

While we're looking for talent across the pond with the coenens and de wolf, we have a guy here kicking ass.  Sign him.

He was ripping in those rollers but I don’t really see a correlation to an uptick in whoop speed. The technique and how the bike and body work in rollers vs whoops is completely different.

I think he can definitely improve and be a top 5 guy 250 sx.

If Tom can become a SX champion there's hope they can work with Ty and make him at the very least competitive.

Maybe HEP on a 450 if Kenny goes elsewhere? It's fun to speculate and his future looks bright 🌞

I honestly can’t see why considering the amount of tv time he is getting the team and the results they wouldn’t put him on the team despite his supercross results and just see how he does with the teams resources to help him in that area too.

it’s not like their first choice supercross riders are giving them the results in both disciplines

Exactly. I think they can give up on mcadoo experiment, hammaker has never made it through a full season. We know the tale of forkner. Vohland is a big ? mark

He also only did a handful of SX races while still on the 450, after coming off sickness and surgery through the 23 MX season and SMX playoffs. I think with the right team and trainer he’d be just fine on the full time SX schedule.

I would advise any rider that isn’t an other worldly talent like roczen to avoid that bike. No one seems to really make it work other then him.

wasn’t he on bar x for like a week or two?

I think Ty is ahead of Chiz and Shane at this point. No disrespect to those boys. ClubMX on a 450 with Phil retiring?

I know what you mean, but from what I've seen if you're good in one, you can be good in the other.

Guys, he's ripping on a 250, let's see what he can do on one, he's earning a nice money deal as we speak.

HEP is going to be Roczen (Progressive) and Nichols on Twisted...with Craig possibly going to Twisted too.

Club is trying to get him, 250 deal. But PC also wants to keep him.

This seems like an easy decision, no?

the club 250 program seems to struggle with reliability.

I don’t know why, but I just want for him to be on an outdoors only schedule. An enigma, who hides away all winter, just hammering outdoors and crushes it every year. Which would make sense to no one. But it would be badass.

Outdoors and the fans are something else. If you are that good at something, why not just go all in and be the best at it. I feel like the sport loses too many rippers trying to figure out the supercross circus.

I think Mitch will find a way…

Ty is probably too close to his family for a GP effort, but right now he’s the perfect American to grab an MXGP ride and give it a go for a few years.

I'm not an insider by any measure. But I've been able to ride weekday practice days with some of the best Texas has produced for years. Even some that stopped at private/public tracks in N. TX from elsewhere but on factory teams.

Hahn brothers, Kyle Cunningham, both Wharton brothers, Hot Sauce Tedesco, Kyle Regal, Matt Lemoine, John Short, to name some good pros and a lot of other pros who don't maybe always make mains through the years. I'm sure many here can say the same so I'm not exclusive by any means.

But two years ago I spent a fair amount of time at HIS956, & it was evident to me every time I was able to watch Ty, that he had tremendous speed and was a great talent.

He's been on a lot of sub par or slightly sub par equipment for years now and had some real injuries that have held him back for sure. He's done tremendous so far for Mitch and PC. I don't recall how many PC riders have scored moto wins and overalls for Mitch in the last 3 or 4 years outdoors. I believe Kitchen did for Star, and certainly is capable for PC. But in reality, Ty has given to PC what PC has given to Ty so far. BOTH have benefitted from each other, and really what more can you ask for. If PC does sign Ty, I feel working with their bikes, with their suspension, with their testing, with the teammates he'll have to work with, Ty will improve a significant amount in SX for them.

He is one of several riders right now with tremendous upside in our sport. I hope he stays with PC and I want him to stay on "green".

He may not have the best SX skills, and I know most teams focus on that, but the fact he is this good outdoors should get him a ride. Even if he's hired to be 2nd or 3rd guy in SX, just get through it healthy, and then be a title threat guy for outdoors, could be appealing to teams. He's doing this good now, with virtually no testing, and no proper prep (according to him), imagine a year with a good program.

I was riding with Chad Pederson and Denny Stephenson in district 22 amateurs in the early 80's. Does that count?

This is perfect we all know damn well Hammaker and McAdoo will never make it past the last round of Supercross. Might as well just have Ty as a full time outdoors guy ready to fill in for them when the inevitable happens.
