Finishing up going through a nice 95 I picked up. Serviced the stock suspension, don’t have the coin for a revalve right now, so looking to see what everyone did for setup on the stock stuff back in the day. I had a 92, the forks were dismal… so I don’t expect too much better from this one. I may revalve it if I end up riding it more, but it’ll likely get out 2x a year.
Any old settings appreciated 👍🏻

Nice looking bike. I had a 96 BITD. Suspension was pretty good, stock. 95 should be similar.
I did have to change the rear spring rate to get the sag set correctly (I was about 170 lbs) and stock spring was too stiff.
Take comp out on the forks to taste, and decrease reb on the shock if you change to a softer rear spring.
I ran a 51T rear sprocket (50 was stock) and if I remember correctly, it was rich jetted for 1'000 ft. elevation and had to rejet it.
Otherwise, great handling/turning/braking bike.
Going to shell out for a revalve finally. What do you guys things, do the TC swap / 96 shock, or just have factory connection do the stock stuff? I’m a set it and forget it kind of guy, and this big may get ridden 5hrs / year at best.
The 96 shock with HS compression can be made to work very good. I wouldn’t spend 1$ on the older forks, do the conversion to 07-08 crf forks, they can be made to work great, and you will be able to get really good front brake setups. I have an 08 Crf 450 front end with oversized rotor kit…the newer front end brings the bike up to modern performance levels. I can go just as fast on my 96 with setup as I can a new bike… Keep eye open for a complete front end, as you will need everything.

I was hoping to hear “stock stuff is fine when revalved”. All I hear is another project. I guess it’s worth it though. The 96 shocks are kinda hard to find right now. Front ends are easy enough on eBay.
Also, What pipe are you running?
Pipe is an fmf fatty as per Tom Morgan engine spec. If you ride smooth tracks I”m sure the stockers would be ok, what I am saying is to put 400$ or more of FC revalve & parts into those old forks does not make sense to me..I was able to buy a set of newer forks already sprung & valved for less…I have a few older bikes I knew would not be ridden much, I kept the suspension stock and just serviced them. My 96 Is my go to bike for evo racing so I wanted it to be the best it could be….within reason. Join facebook groups for the 92-96 CR”s, there are a few different ones…I see the 96 shocks listed occasionally…
I just bought a PC for my 95 cr 250! Is anyone looking for a 95-96 pipe that has been blasted and in perfect shape.
I’d be interested if it’s an oem pipe,do you have the silencer as well?I have a few old school pc stinger tip silencers available as well..if your looking for something retro to go with your new pipe..
Never mind ,I just realized your the guy I bought it off this past week..😁I’m on the hunt for another one…
