Remember about 5 yrs ago when a few tracks got those intent to cancel their national letters?

I think it was GH, Broome, Troy, High Point and Southwick

All were told that upgrades needed to be made to their facilites to maintain their Nationals.
Southwick made a bunch of changes like moving the pits, reversing the track, adding fill (didn't say they were all good changes).

The others made changes, Troy sold it's rights to Lakewood and Broome sold theirs to Freestone

What did GH do?
What significant changes have been made at GH in the last couple years, amenity wise, to make it be a more pleasant experience for spectators and how it appeared on TV?

motopoker...GH played their cards and MXsports called.

My only connection is to this sport called MX. But in the last few years it seems like the sport has left and the dollar is more important. Why can't people see what they are doing to the sport we love. Its not Nascar and never will be. Its a nitch sport for a few and loved very much by the 30 and up group and we see it being torn down and us old guys with the love in our heart will have to bring it back.

For me personally........being a MX and SX fan my whole life, I dont think Glen Helen needed to change anything. When you wanted comfort and cleanliness, you go to SX.......when you want the raw, gritty, hardcore MX feeling, you go to Glen Helen and watch a national.
i think many of the changes were directed for a better and more appealing broadcast for the tv audience...could be wrong

I read a post over on proride.com where somebody said Glen Helen management tried to accept MX Sports 1 year contract after they secured the GP's for 5 and MX Sports said no?

Can anybody confirm this?

Ozy just send MX Sports an email they can confirm it they were the ones who said no. Check out the web site it looks good for the track and pit area at Pala. It will be first class. I bet fee's increase again before the National.

Before some of you talk about what was in the contracts unless you have read them and know the whole story you are just asuming you know. There is more there than you know and what is done hopfuly will work out for both. Lets just say there is a lot of miss information out there and leave it at that. But lets just say when you lay down in a bed of roses watch out for the thorns. And some roses don't last as long as others. Pala good luck and pull it off because if you don't you and MX Sports will both look bad and a bad rep is hard to lose in this sport. (MXDN SOBOBA)

Ozy, we have found a new partner in SoCal and we are moving forward with them. Pala Raceway will be a very cool place when you hopefully roll in for the national there in September. We have not spoken to Bud or Lori or anyone at Glen Helen since they canceled their national, but we do wish them luck on the GP and all of their future endeavors. Having two big outdoor races in SoCal is a bonus for fans out there. Glen Helen has moved on, and so has MX Sports.

DC,

"Moving on" from Glen Helen is quite possibly the biggest dis-service ever bestowed upon the US Nationals. I think your vision of an outdoor SX type series is digraceful and doomed to fail. It's wrong on every level.

Good luck with Pala. My buds and I will be spending our money on the Glen Helen USGP.

'Good luck with Pala. My buds and I will be spending our money on the Glen Helen USGP'...

The most ironic thing of all is that Youththstream consistently get slammed in Europe for discarding historical, natural circuits in favour of flat SX type tracks.

GH and MXSports have their reasons, there's not point bitching about it.

Does everyone on the east coast get to bitch as much as the Cali folks did over GH when we lose (move) one of the mid-atlantic nationals next year? (pure speculation on my behalf, BTW, but it's bound to happen sooner or later)

Bottom line - nothing is forever and tracks will change. You have some folks that are trying to make the sport grow and be better. Some things will be right, some things will be wrong. Just be glad we have the opportunity to moan about which race we can attend.

Here's contracts law 101: offer and acceptance.

When party A makes and offer and party B rejects it or makes a counter offer that differs materially from the original offer, the original offer is terminated and does not remain as something that can be accepted to form a contract.

In this case, by all reports, GH turned down the MXSports offer and declined to hold a national on the scheduled date. By the account you've relayed , after GH rejected MXSports one-year offer, GH entered into a contract with Youthstream to run a GP on the same date formerly set aside for the national.

Absent some bizarre option language in MXSports' original offer, GH can't go back and "accept" MXSports original one-year offer under those circumstances.

I have never seen a national in person but the track that stands out the most as a internet-viewer is Glen Helen. That track just looks insane, nothing like it.

DC you need to speak more to the people you work with because there was contact after Glen Helen refused your terms. The later offer I beleive was changed some from the first contract and those things do not need to be aired out but Glen Helen agreed and it was sent back and refused by MX Sports. Glen Helen accepted all of the contract except one part and that was because they had already entered another contract with Youth Stream and MX Sports knew that before the sent Glen Helen another contract. I am a nobody in this Business so why would I lie. I don't need the attention. But you are looked at as someone important in this Industry and should remember if you don't know say so, don"t say something that is incorrect . You have earned the respect of everyone for the hard work you do so keep up the good work but please be correct in statements made because someone out there might know something about the subject to.

For someone who says they're a "Nobody in this business" you act as if you have a great deal of alleged inside information of a private business dealing

There was nothing available to GH to accept at that point.

Moreover, sending back a document with terms changed is not an acceptance; it's a counteroffer.

And how could GH "agree" to a contract that was to have a national the date GH already had contracted away to Youthstream?

Clearly you don't know enough about the facts and circumstances to be making any assertions GH attempted to accept MXSports' terms but was refused .

Mr. Info, for a nobody in the business, you seem to have an inside line on things that are not familiar to me. I have emailed with Jody and Tom White, but have been doing so long before this started, and hope to long after this is all forgotten. Once GH canceled their national, I am sure the lawyers finished out the legalese and loose wires of the previous contract (as FTE would know), but there's been no contact with Bud or Lori or anyone at GH that I know of, other than to wish them good luck here on a great event.

Davey I wish everybody has success going forward. I just hate rumors and mis-information that ends up being spread out there. I know MX Sports and Glen Helen tried and it did not work. What's in a contract should remain there and not for everyone else to see and most won't understand. Good luck on you vision and path. Every step made will piss off some and make others happy. You need to stick to your guns. But please be honest because that was the person I thought you were. I love the fact that I can still race every weekend in this great State of Ca. even if it has no money and it will always be the home of MX. Good Luck

FTE if you know more than I about the contract then you have the right to give me all the shit you think I have coming. You know best so I will just stand back and keep my mouth shut. And if you work for Dirt Diggers then you know all the same facts I do an congrats on your contract. Have a great race and tell the guys I said hello. And I only speak the truth because thats how I was raised and how I raise my kids.
