I know you guys have expressed reluctance to politics. However Chief Justice John Roberts has fucked us over again. Anytime he doesn't want to address an issue, he kicks it based on standing. He alone is the reason we still have ObamaCare. How could Texas possibly not have standing to file suit of fraud in another state? If a state doesn't have standing at SCOTUS to represent their population, who the hell can they go to? And again today, a dagger to the heart of free speech. "The states don't have standing" They had all the information that the GOVERNMENT was censoring speech and because of John Roberts, the government can do it again. Why would Biden want to "pack the court" when he has the Chief Justice of SCOTUS doing his bidding?
TM
TM, you didn’t really expect anything different from him this time, did you? He is what he is and I don’t see that changing.
I actually thought this one was a softball issue to say the government overstepped the constitution. But my expectations for the government to do the right think has gotten so low, my disappointment and outrage is minimal co.pared to what it should be. 😔
TM
I think it was a 6-3 decision. For sure Roberts has been a big disappointment but unlike Obamacare this one was not all him. It seems odd to me that there would be any disagreement on standing. Either a plaintiff has a cause of action or they don't. I don't get the 6-3 on this.
Yes, 6-3. I absolutely believe Robert's has influence over the junior justices. The communications absolutely show the government directed big tech to censor people that didn't fall in line with their narrative. The constitution/bill of rights exist to guarantee our rights and stop the government from infringing on those. We know the government wants to take away everyone's guns. Can you imagine if the government went to Blackwater and said, if you just happen to go in people's houses and take their guns, on your own of course, we will not prosecute you. But that's what they did with our right to free speech which arguably is more powerful to change policy and country.

Oh look. It’s the government doing what they do best. Fucking over the ones that pay their wages. Our only way out of this will be good ol fashioned violence.
Nope, violence not the answer. We have to vote for people that want the same thing we want and vote in big enough numbers to overcome fraud.
That’s proving to work out really well for us. All of these politicians, judges, govt officials constantly work against us. I guarantee you every step they make is because a company like Blackrock is calling the shots. They own everything.
Well, you're not wrong.
They want We The People to get violent. That would be like a Christmas present for them. DON’T give it to them!
I agree, violence ain't going to do shit to solve this problem.
I will say though, if we want real change, we have to go above and beyond just voting. You have to get involved in on a community level. Ain't no one at the top going to fix all our problems, if we take it upon ourselves to fix them, all our efforts (as small as they may be in the grand scheme of things) will add up, our community efforts will turn into city efforts, our city efforts will turn into state efforts, and state efforts will turn into country efforts.
I tend to think of it like storming the beaches of normandy. Voting didn't win that battle that lead to winning the war, boots on the ground did.
Someone must have hacked your account. I agree 100%!
I knew you weren’t all bad!
Nice thoughts, but political dissonance is steeped too far in the country for any hope of communal quietude, on any level. Unfortunately, it will probably take another atrocious act of aggression to bring any semblance of unity back to this country.
Damn it, I better take care of that shit and change my password!
I believe many folks get into politics at the local level and are good people with good intentions. I also believe they learn very fast "you have to go along to get along" and become corrupt (not in their eyes) going up the ladder of importance. If they don't play by the rules, the money pushes them out. I also believe people need to get involved at the local level. I also know that many folks are discouraged when they get labeled domestic terrorists by the FBI for wanting their kids safe. None the less, you're right, it needs to keep happening or they win.
TM
It didn't take an atrocious act of violence to get where we are and it won't take an atrocious act of violence to get back to what should be normal. It will take years and a tenacious effort and people who don't give up. Think of all the things that have happened in the last 50 years without violence. Then do your part to advocate that we don't resort to violence.

Who is John Roberts?
Tell me you're trolling without telling me you're trolling
I mean I really don't know who it is, so I guess I'm trolling by asking?
I'm guessing he's some politician or close....some of ya'll would be better off not watching the news and looking for something to get outraged about every day.
Go riding.
Pit Row
Easiest way to fix politics is getting rid of lobbyists and implementing a publicly funded campaign rule, every candidate gets the same funds to work with.
If that happened you'd see 95% of the politicians in office now running for the hills if there was only one source of income available to them.
I guess you didn't read the first post in the thread if you really don't know who he is.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Of The United States (AKA SCOTUS)
How do you explain the hatred for Trump. He used his own money, and didn't enrich himself. His net worth probably dropped unlike every other politician who gets rich.
You'll have to come up with another solution.
Did Trump use his own money because he said he did, or did he file tax returns that are public record showing he did?
I seem to remember a lot of ads asking for donations to his campaign in 2016 and even now. And if you think Trump didn't do what every other president in history has done, sans Jimmy Carter, which is use the office to enrich themselves, well then I don't know what to say.
Add term limits and put all of their money in a trust account that can’t be touched/freeze funds or some means of keeping them from Nancy Pelosi, err insider trading and you’re heading in the right direction
All of the fixes that people come up with are nothing but band aids and workaraounds to make up for the ignorant electorate.
Put a civics test on the back of every ballot. Can't get 70% right, your vote goes in the trash. We would be down to the 15 or 20% that actually know what the hell they are voting about.
There are some good books on the subject of voter ignorance. You have a real army of neanderfucks out there canceling your vote.
Who?
Pretty sure I read his net worth decreased while President. How do you explain that? As opposed to presidents that have never made real money in the private sector but became mega rich during and after. Hillary claimed they couldn't afford furniture leaving the WH, .1%er now?
TM
Well shit, somehow I did miss that. My bad.
I still don't really know what he did, but thanks for clarifying who he is.
No worries, this thread's about run it's course.
But we're off to a good start for this weekend, have a great one!
