You think 5 will win the outdoors as a rookie too?

Have twins ever finished on the podium at an Outdoor National? And I'm not talking about Monster girls.

sad to say but imo the safest bet would be on the man who is least injury prone...

Not sure exactly who that is, but my gut feeling is probably Dungey? When was the last time he had an injury anyway? I can't remember one

I expect Ryan D. to win another title.
The guy comes across well and the similarity mentioned (in another thread here) to David Beckham is valid.
Anyone noticed how many holeshots that 450 Suzuki is pulling in the last year or so? under different riders too - one fast bike.

Mike A. has a good shot too. Fast rider on a special bike - hope he stays healthy.

Trey Canard, quickest Honda rider, by some margin! outside gamble?

Chad Reed? I get the impression fatherhood (and having money) have taken the edge off his desire. I might be wrong - I hope I am.

The rest? who can tell just yet?

I agree I think Dungey is set up for the title, and like the other guy said he doesn't seem very injury prone, but he has gnarly get-offs and nothing seems to waver him or mess him up, he does pretty well overall and is pretty dialed on that Suzuki. I think Reed might be good but idk I mean he was so dialed on that suzuki for SX then he just wasn't up front in MX till later on then he had is illness going on, and on that kawi i just haven't seen Reed look half as good, but who knows, I think Dungey can do it though. Unless JS7 wants to run the whole series and if he doesn't crash.

Do you guys really see Reed coming out swinging? I'm curious to see how he gets going, he hasn't really shown his A game on the Kawi yet, lets hope he can turn it on outdoors.

And yes, do think Dunge could pull it off. But I'm rooting for Grant this summer!

I don't know who is going to win it this year and I like it that way. Here are a few guesses though:

Dungey: More than capable of getting the title if he brings his A game. RV almost beat him to the SX title because Ryan was a little "off" for whatever reason.

Reed: Always a threat but if he will languish around in the bottom of the top five if he can't come to grips with the green bike. Maybe worse.

Josh Grant: He goes like stink but has wadded himself an awful lot lately. I just don't know

Andrew Short: Will Andrew ever win a race? I wonder if he is one of those guys that when he finally wins one he will go on a tear and win a bunch.

Davi Millsaps: Davi has the speed but is nowhere near consisitent enough.

Grant Langston: He has proven he can win in the past but alas that is the past...what has he done lately? I wonder if the eye isn't right.

Moss: I just don't know.

Tommy Hahn: Tommy could have a breakthrough year. He looks really good on the zook.

Townley: Ben had the speed on the little bike but I just don't know how he will do on the 450. His experience on them so far has not been good.

Mike Alessi: I want Mighty Mike to win a title so badly. He certainly has the outright speed but with his "issues" I just don't know if he will. Ever.

Either way it goes this year we should have some great racing. I left out Brayton and a few others I know. I can't wait for the Nationals to start.

I think he has a real good shot of doing it.
Just depends who shows up. If the top guys don't race, then yea he has a shot.

Yep. James is a game changer.

Other than that, everyone else will have some poor finishes, some top 5 and a win or two. The one who is best at damage control will win it. Dungey has proven to be very good at that. His starts have been very good. RV had great starts but he's out. MA's key to being in the hunt is starts and I don't know if he'll be able to get out of the gate on the 350 like he did on a 450.

It was 2009 and he looked pretty consistent up until he hurt his knee all this after he came back from getting run over and then breaking his leg after that. MA deserves more respect than he gets here. After seeing Grant snicker about taking Mike out on InSideTheOutdoors I am wishing Grant all the bad luck he deserves.

Who's fault was it MA went down when he got run over? It was a bad deal, but it was not a forced error. As for the deal with Grant, are you saying the 39 other guys should have taken it easy and tiptoe'd around him because he was hurt???

He got on the starting gate injured. No ones fault but the Alessi's for that. He should not have been out there in the first place!! It's one thing to have sore ribs or bruises here and there, but to get out on the track with a fractured patella and fresh out of surgery is just stupid!!

Kinetic1: about BT101, you forgot he was the only threat to Everts when he was on 450s in Europe?

And about MA, he was the second fastest guy in the series last year and the year before, and both those guys aren't riding.

If he's healthy and his dad doesn't decide to get him fired, he's my favorite along with Reedy, who's defending and has the most experience.

I think the major contenders who have a real sht at winning the title are Reed, Alessi, Dungey, Townley, Grant, and Langston. Darkhorses could be Hahn, Moss, the other Moss, Short, Millsaps, and Brayton. This is gonna be a good year. Now that Villopoto is out I hope Stewart doesn't race

I just want Dungey to win straight up, all I hear is last year Pourcel's bike blew up,after that moto Pourcel won everything proving that if his bike didnt blow up he woulda won. Then I hear Stewart and Reed didn't race the whole series and Villo waded, so in there book Dungey rates with Reed hasnt had the pleasure of winning a title with the best guys on the track or flukes..

I want all the main players to be healthy and the best man win, but in the words of Reed he says the fastest outdoor rider we have is still Carmichael to this day. LOL Retired and your competitors still say your the fastest .

IF (and it's a big "IF") Dungey can win this title....his past two seasons would go down as the most successful in the history of the sport would't they (given what he would have accomplished his rookie year on the 450)?

250 West SX Champ
250 National Champ
MXdN team win and class overall (he did win the overall in his class right?)
450 SX champ
450 National Champ

If he can win this title...that's be an unbelievable two seasons of racing.

So, it was functionally a 10 race series and in 20% of those races he was off the podium? I'm not taking a shot at Reed, but I'd say those 4 motos were poor finishes for a guy who wants to win the title.

Was he consistent overall? Yes, he won the title. Did he have any poor finishes? Yes.

But when was the last time Reed raced an outdoor race besides MXdN? He did start out slow but after a few races, he was once again the guy to beat. It will come down between Reed and Dungey for the championship.
