Tough. Had a top 20 time in the second session but the first session yielded faster times so his 20th wasnt enough. Guess it pays to put it in early and cruise around the rest of the day

He DNF'd the LCQ?

Nothing excuses not qualifying for the show.
He is improving though, lucky he’s got a family who can support his efforts. It is his rookie year, he still has a lot to improve.

That second qualifying time was a flicker to build on. At this point I think everyone understands he wasn’t factory worthy ready yet and needs to let him build back from Privateer status. It’s going to be a journey that takes years if it’s even possible.

There was a kid 3-4 years ago that came out of amateurs and had a Star ride, it didn’t work out and everyone said he didn’t want it and his dad was the problem.  “They” didn’t get a long with anyone and didn’t know what they were doing. The vital jury wrote him off.

That kid bounced around on a few privateer teams and found his confidence and got another opportunity recently.  I can’t remember the kids name for sure, especially today for some reason. I think he had an older brother that passed racing and has one that still races in the 450 class.

Anyways.  Back to Evan, he’ll be fine.  Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you.....he should have no problem qualifying for an outdoor race even on a bone stock bike right off the dealership floor. It's not going well at all....

The kid that podiumed at red Bud 3-4 years ago? Some said he should break away from his dad and do his own thing but can’t remember anyone saying he didn’t want it.

I honestly think he probably is at this point.
Lil Keefer is kicking ass in the B class and we all know top 3 of the B is A class speed.

I don't know the practice order for yesterday, but that has to play a factor in lap times. I seen guys in top 15 yesterday that are never normally that close, track was like Vietnam.

To put in perspective, a couple of guys I have raced with were 35 to 45 seconds off a LAP off the top 36. Dirtbikes are fucking difficult.

Everyone that makes the top 40 and into the race should feel accomplished and pumped it’s no joke.  However, yesterday was an anomaly in what you speak of. First guys out were 250b group. There were lots of guys that got their time on a mud track that was quite easier than just a couple laps later.

The proof is available to anyone wanting to see it. The top 11 guys in the first practice qualified out of that FIRST B group. Most of this guys got their time in the 2nd lap.

Ricci Randanella qualified 9th overall. From his second lap which was a time of 2:27. His second fastest lap was a 2:33. 6 seconds slower, 3 laps later. This guy sent it and no doubt be proud of that qualifying spot.

That's racing! Sometimes things like this happen and everyone is forced to deal with it. Evan qualified 19th in the second round, this is more indicative of where his speed is. However that put him 37th overall.

Fineis qualified 32nd overall. He’s not 32nd fastest guy. He’s ripping!

Haters will hate and racers will move onto the next one. And an old has been, never was guy like me will argue on the internet. 😂😂

How is that indicative of where his speed is at when it is 10-15 places higher than he normally qualifies and 20 places higher than where he finishes the motos every weekend?

Yea he might have had a bad break in qualifying, but he could have went out and won the lcq to get in. He just wasn't in the top 40 speed-wise yesterday.

He might have holeshot the lcq, but either way he was leading and pulling a gap when he stuffed it in a rut and went otb at the bottom of the big hill.  He was trapped under the bike until a flagger from halfway up the hill ran down to pick the bike up off him, which was a major fiasco as well.

A lot of Tim Ferry fans in here.

A lot of Moto people who don’t like to shit on people for no good reason. If you mean people who raced in the 90’s and have respect for their fellow racers and just want to see their mates do well! Count me in 💁‍♂️

I often wonder how many people here on vital like Moto. Let alone dirt bikes.

A lot of hate gets spewed in these forums. For the most ridiculous reasons. It makes you wonder how did this person get offended by such a minute thing.

Of course not. But I guess kind of.  I’m just saying that people are finicky and quick to write people off.  There was a time Ty was ridiculed and written off by arm chair experts here when he didn’t do what they thought was right. Similar situation I feel, but of course Evan will have to prove the naysayers wrong.

count me in as a positive believer.

I don’t understand bagging on a kid. I guess most of the guys in here figured it all out when they were 17 and never had any issues or problems in their careers. Must be nice. I look at it more as a journey and no big deal if he doesn’t make it. He’s riding his dirt bike. He’s winning already and faster than me. If any of my 4 kids makes it close to his speed I’ll be super pumped. Or if they just ride for fun.

Nobody is jealous or hating. It’s the fact that the kid was given multiple opportunities and the pathway to success and has done nothing with it. I don’t want to hear about him having to claw his way through the ranks and make a name for himself, because he didn’t ever have to do that. He’s had multiple big name rides that he walked away from, or failed to perform on. If Deegan was in this position the posts would be much worse.

You have been the #1 hater.  He probably kissed your girlfriend at Loretta’s one year.

all these opportunities you speak of? Name them.  He rode for Husky, NSA and Triumph.  You act like that isn’t only three teams the last few years.
