Deanza was pretty bad ass. How many of you ever got into with Doug the owner he was pretty crazy some times. I also remember 3 motos back in the old days and eating shit out there a couple of times.

Never had any problems with Doug the guy who ran the place but then again I could tell he was the kinda guy who probably wouldn't take any crap... so I avoided giving him any Smile

Anytime I'd go over to talk to him while he patrolled the pits in his old pickup, he'd be downing a six pack.

Hi all...

I rode at DeAnza from 76 to 83. I won a YZ80 one year for being 1st overall in points for Mini Expert. I actually lost the last race of that season to a guy named Gary Carney. I had just enough lead in the series to win the overall by 1 (one) point. Smile

I remember Doug and the Michetti's...

Good times indeed.

Paul, now how in the hell could you possibly know that there were only four riders?
hell i was there and i don't remember! i earned my AMA pro license there, and the
AMA won't let you get a pro license by only beating one guy you have to
consistantly place higher than a certain amount of riders in several races,
in a said time frame, it can't be all third place with four riders in the
field! i don't know maybe this exact race only four showed up but hell i'm
still gonna race, man this figures i finally find a write up and Paul Denis
finds some way to make it look bad! boy your just a bundle of joy Paul!

Here you go Charley, I will help you out a little. Although Paul could have the same argument in this case since ironically the same three riders placed in each stock and mod. But since it is a BIG race, more than likely there were a few more bikes Smile .

Not Todd Campbell, not a former so. Cal racer. Chip's comment was good humor IMO, it's all good.

Thank you...I was an Intermediate/Expert lifer, that turn pro six months before heading off to college to pursue a degree and baseball. Charley, you were probably faster than me. I am not holding nothing back from you, no reason to. I was in the Pacific Northwest (figured I have made that clear since my stories all connect with the Pac NW) and only raced Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Never had the money to race the amateur nationals but followed them, So. Cal and Texas racing during my time as close as one could without being there. Raced with and/or against some of the top amateur national riders from the Northwest during my time (I am pretty sure I have named them all a few times on here).

And what mr50racer said, click on my pic...

That's it...no reason for paranoia.

Raced there early eighties on an eighty, remember Tokarski? He was a ripper on a 60. Now his son rides and does pretty good on am circuit. I remeber the hill climbs there, I couldn't even get up them with a rope!

I raced there a handful of times in the late 70"s and early 80's and the best I could do was mid-pack finishes....I was a CRC guy (Saddleback and Indian Dunes) and was running up/near the front most of the time with them (250/Open Int.), but I would get smoked by "locals" every time at DeAnza....I'd feel like I was riding pretty good only to have some guy go flying by me in a line I didn't recognize was there....I recall it being a "hilly" track with good dirt and a cool start--kinda' like Saddleback's, only shorter and steeper right out of the gate....
