MxAddict, if you knew anything about GH then you would understand that when its race time versus practice that track is undeniably different... No way shape or form is that track near the same from when we practice there to when they hold the National or in your case the GP!! That place is dry hard and dusty on practice days, race days its deep rutted and beat up from the feet up!!

OK, but ...

US riders know GH track (practice or race) and GPs riders don't.

Wink
Not really the tracks here (especially GH) are ever the same from year to year like in the GP's. I watched Bulgaria a little and noticed the track had very few changes to it since I was there in 07. GH is always changing from year to year, the only thing the same is the hills and the start the rest of the track is quite a bit different Whistling

I couldn´t care less if th eGP guys struggle or not - having a GP at GH is a dream come true!

You know what, Loungo gets a lot of critisism but I think people forget what he´s done to the GP´s too. The tracks are better, the coverage is better and they seem to be pretty serious about making the sport more professional. Things take time, but aside from some issues I´m liking this.

Having a GP at Glen Helen is like when MC went to KTM - no one could see it coming. Great stuff!

that´s not the point I was trying to make and you know it. You didn´t foresee the switch to Katoom in 02/03 either, and that´s the point.

Yea and Mc didn't foresee the KTM ending his career.

And if you look back a couple of weeks I called the USGP at Glen Helen before they even talked to Youthstream about it.

I didn´t compare his stint with KTM to GH and the GP´s, just how surprising it was that it happened.
I´m not going to complain one bit about what happens at GH as long as there is a GP there and we get to enjoy it, and I´m happy that YS stepped up to make it happen.

Maybe its because the GP riders and fans don't care too much for the track building machines they have in the states!

if top americans do race then they will have track advantage, as lots of mxgp riders have when the race is at their country or practice zone.......
but i think the top gp guys will have bike advantage as they will race true works bikes and not production based, also fuel and sound rules are a bit diferent and us teams will not test that much in the midle of their races.....i think.....
the 35+2 motos are also better for the gp gys, they are used to it and us riders will have to save some more energy during the first part of the race for that last 5 minutes
so i think that it comes down to who wants it more, and like last year mxdn in a new and diferent track showed, there are great riders on each side of the pound.......
i hope americans do show up and race, it could be an high light of this years racing and i am sure who does win it will be for sure deserved
but no one better then sh105 to make a call on this one, he was the last to race the 2 series and should have a good idea on the outcome of the race........

I get it, they going to use the optional extra "rough track" adaptor before races to prep the track!!

And if you look back a couple of weeks then you'll see that i actually said that maybe a USGP could creep onto the FIM schedule. This was before you started your thread.

Not if he has to ride that damn 350.

If Tony rides the 350 and gets a midpack start he'll never catch James IMO. Please Stefan let him ride the 450 for this one. You don't have to tell anyone, we'll all pretend its the 350 after all.

You're wrong, Jay

They do not mess with a GP track on raceday, at all, other than the first turn(s). Their tracks get rough as shit, and yeah, I have seen a rough GH and I have also seen a rough Lierop and others. Generalizations rarely fit, you should know that.

They can handle GH and how rough it gets, even the square edged shit. They do have hard pack in Europe.

So Glen Helen will be as if someone steam rolled the track then right ?

Not saying it's the roughest track ever but it can be brutal.

Ever been to a GP.

Are you one of those people who still believes that Southwick is rougher than Lierop and Lommel ?

I know those tracks are rough, I also know Budds creak was rough and the Americans destroyed the GP riders there.

No I have not been to a GP but I was at Matterley Basin and Malory Park for the MXdN's

My only point is Glen Helen will not be a smooth track.

I thought some guy named Mark the proclaimed sand wizard was going to come to America and kick everyones ass at Southwick because he raced the more rough and sandy tracks like Lierop and Lommel? What place he get again? Like I have said before Mx is Mx and the fastest guy will win.

But hopefully everyone will at least finish the second moto!

You mean Matterly Basin and Donington Park? There were some big old ruts at Donington to be fair.

So you honestly don't think a 3rd place or whatever it was DeReuver got in that first race was commendable at all? Even though he's never raced there before and it was about 130 degrees?

I'd like to see an American rider of equal status in the AMA (Goerke, Wey, Albertson Millsaps etc) come over for one race in Holland or anywhere for that matter and get a 3rd straight off the bat.

Albertson posted 16th and a 20th at the weekend incase you missed it, on a track I would expect an American to thrive on.

Albertson compared to Mark? Really, Is that the comparison you want to use? Because those two are not even close. 3rd is comendable, but to not finish a race is pathetic! The self proclaimed sand god and much hyped on his own part, got crushed the second moto and even said the pace was too much. And the tempature? C'mon man! Excuses are like assholes and everyone of ya has one....and they all stink!

Last year DeReuver was 24th in GP's, in 2008 he was 10th and in 2007 he was 14th.

Last year Jimmy Alberston was 10th in the AMA and in 2008 he was 14th...

So yeah, Im comparing Alberston to DeReuver.

I think you're over exaggerating this 'Sand God' statement somewhat too - he's a good sand rider no doubt, but he's not arrogant about it. The media hyped that shit up.

My point is no excuses should be made on either side. None, simple as that. If a euro wins he wins, if they get beat they get beat none of the excuses we all have used on both sides of the pond. I hope we have all the top guys there and it will be like the pre MXoN but that might be harder to do then we think. Fast or not I hope a good race will be run and we have all the top talent support since it is in America.

This is such a null and void point. I don't know why it always has to be a huge square up when "the world races the usa". Its such a good opprotunity for the US to have a gp and for guys like me and jimmy its so cool that we get to come home and race! I just hope the event goes well and we have the opprotunity to do it again wherever it is glen helen or maine who really cares. If you want to have a race to see who the best country/rider in the world is then fly everyone down to antartica where things are different for everyone and let's sort it out. So now that we all know that will never ever happen.... Let's enjoy the glen helen gp and be thankful that we get the chance to have it!
