Looking to get a new set of triple clamps so I can get some oversized bars without buying the stupid bar adaptors for the 05 yz. Looking at the ride engineering clamps but the part number is the same for 05 yz to 06yz. From reading forums this wouldn’t be right because the fork spacing is different in these two years. Anyone know what is up with that or what any other options are for different clamps?
You can run the 06+ spacing on the 05 bikes, it just shifts the wheel over 1mm and the axle no longer aligns in the normal spot. It's not right, but it "works". We list ours as 2006+ for that reason. You could get 2006+ clamps and a new axle and run 1mm spacers on both sizes of the axle. You'd also have to space out the caliper to match.
You might be able to talk a wheel manufacturer into making a set of axle spacers that are 1mm wider too. We looked into it, but there just wasn't enough demand to justify it. A lot of people with an 05 upgrade to the SSS forks anyway, which takes care of it too (fork lugs are correct for the wider spacing).
Why not just get a top clamp?
I want to change the offset of the forks also for better cornering.
I run 2006 yz250 forks on my 2005 yz125. I would suggest the SSS forks as Luxon MX mentioned. The 2005 forks are not that great. I've had elbow injuries (dislocated in 1998) and the 2005 forks hurt my arms on small chatter. The SSS forks are night and day better. Then, just buy the 2006+ clamps and live happy with both upgrades... just my 2 cents.

Yeah, you can try Ebay and Craigslist. And the Bazaar/For Sale section of this site.
