Is it a thing?

A few years back @KennyT posted he was wanting to buy an Indian. He was concerned (for a different reason) that he might get some shit when he parked at some places. I haven't owned/ridden a street bike for the last 40 years. I want to get a bike and go for a few day trip with my brother in law. I have my eye on a 2014 moto guzzi california custom. Is it a thing that when you pullup somewhere with an off brand european bike you'll get  shit? I don't intend to have it very long, I just really like the looks of it. And for you guys that ride bikes, do you carry any tools or just a AA card for free towing? Maybe a few day rides to get used to it and then maybe a trip up to coast or something fun. They seem to be pretty few and far between as I rarely ever see them come up for sale other than some remote place that I'd not be able to go check it out.

My cousin has a Moto Guzzi. I’m not sure what year it is but, it’s fairly new. He lives out in the IE area and, has never had any issues with others giving him a hard time.

Personally, I think it would be pretty bad ass to ride a Moto Guzzi. Not as bad ass as pulling up on a Ural, but in the same ballpark.

I've ridden street bikes for nearly 50 years and all over the country, One time I had a Harley guy tell me I that I need to get off my rice burner and get a real bike,  had a Kawasaki concurs at the time. I laughed and that was that.

If they give you shit, just ask if they want to race.

Do you have folks that follow you around and down vote you for no reason? This thread should be the epitome of something we could participate in without conflict.

The last and only street bike I had was a KZ1000 40+ years ago. Semi dropped a loading ramp in front of me on the freeway. After that accident I realized riding on the street was not for me. Doesn't matter who's right or wrong when you go down. I think few rides would be OK though. And then I'm good.

There’s a couple I imagine. Could honestly care less. I just think of them as unhappy fans lol.

Haters gonna hate. If you don’t have haters, you’re probably a mealy mouthed, never stood for anything, fence sitting,………you catch my drift.

Kenny, thought the Harley crowd would shy away from the Indian.

I see some guy riding a Moto Guzi California…….im thinking eccentric kook, that likes constantly trying to source broken shit from Italy. The only thing probably worse is a Bimota.

Most Harley guys only care about playing dress up for the trailer parade.

Why would anyone give a person shit for riding something that's not a HD?

As for Harleys, I don't have much time for them here in South Africa. Too loud, abnoxious and they think they own the road.

The only difference between a Hoover vacuum cleaner and a HD is the position of the dirtbag.

I have had several Harley riders every riding season tell me to get a real bike and get rid of my rice burners. I ride BMWs by the way, save for the three years of torment on an 1190 Adventurer.

On a few comical occasions..I’ve pointed out…when these people do this silly-shit…their Showa suspension…their off-shore parts…alllllll over their beloved Murican cruisers. Laughing

My favorite? Is the HD Chrome & Noise riders that buy all that Kuryakyn shit as they put American flags alllllll over their bikes. CLASSIC! One guy that was giving a Honda Shadow rider a ration of shit got laid into for allllll his Karyakyn CHINESE CHROME LED SHIT…in the parking area…at Mt. Rushmore. There were about 20 of us on ADVs…some dude on a Shadow was chatting with us…and Johnny Fat Ass Harley dude comes over and starts yapping in about the Honda Shadow not being a “real bikers bike”…talking shit…it was the perfect set-up.

So, I went over and took inventory of his Ultra-Classic and it’s “content by National origin”. The parking lot was a comedy club at that point. Shadow dude joined us for a ride tp Deadwood. He bought a round. When he got home(this bad ass had ridden from Boston!), he bought an Africa Twin Sport…the really NICE one!

Next up: Loud Bikes with loud stereos…Bwaaahaaaahaaaaahaaaaaaa😂

I know a guy with one he really likes it. He left last Monday to go to Cota this weekend and then onto the keys.

I have a 04 California stone which I bought new. Approx 35 000 miles on it. Educated guess as the odo quit working . Ive been stranded twice. Close to home thank fuck. Exploded clutch and fuel pump issue. But I love the bike. Yes parts availability was piss poor when I needed them. I also ride an 08 duc multistrada.  Been 100% reliable. Knock on wood. Fucking expensive to up keep though. Guzzis are famous for simplicity . And many are kept and ridden for decades. Helps to be mechanically inclined. I love mine

I've read 2 negative things. Electrical issues and also 1 review complained that the routing of the exhaust made for uncomfortable heat on your legs? Was that ever an issue for you?

I’d take George over Sonny, ten out of ten times.

Over a discussion over who’s the most significant old school H/A? Really? Were you a brother or even… a pledge?

Btw, as I recall…Sonny incorporated and trademarked the H/A’s and their intellectual property.

But, I digress.

Seems to be a habit of his.

Deleting numerous posts ala sloan.

He axed a bunch here, and elsewhere where he was doing his usual thread invasions.

sloan, while annoying AF, didn't flood the board with worthless copypasta threads, and child like posts everywhere he could.

This doofus is ruining moto, and non moto.

Yeah, ILM got caught being full of shit and “cleaned” that up by deleting it.

You must have come in late to the discussion.
