Recently bought a used 16’ yz250 to do a small build on. Upon changing fork seal I found my left fork (caliper side) the dampening rod is bent and scored up from something internal being broke. According to Motosports experts I have the buy an entire fork assembly which is $1500+. I found some used suspension for 2016 yz250f. Will they fit for the yz250 and if not what are some changes I can do to make them work?
You'll need different triple clamps, but otherwise should be all good. Just need four stroke clamps, but you'll need to swap the stem from your two stroke clamps.
Thanks man, actually one of the sets I found came with triple clamps. So hopefully everything works out
What about axles? I’ve seen some people say the 250f has a bigger axle
I'm running YZF forks on my YZ.
You'll either need to change the triple clamps or keep it simple and use shims on the top clamp. I don't know where to source them but it's an easy part to do with a lathe.
Concerning the wheel and axle : You'll need the YZF setup as the axle is not the same diameter (except if you put the fork lugs from your YZ on to the YZF forks)

Thanks, I found a decent deal on forks and triple clamp and then also got an axle and wheel spacers on the way. Guy I work with has a bunch of yzf parts if I need anything else so hopefully it all
works out
Ross told me the 4 stroke are shorter than the 2 stroke my buddy tried it bike didnt feel good
try it, see what you think, call enzo to confirm
You'll also need the bearings/seals for the hub. I'm not 100% sure anymore, but I thought you could just put the YZF bearings in the same hub. So same OD but different ID on the bearings. Also new spacer. But I have had a buddy swap everything on the front (clamps down to wheel) for his 250 2stroke from a 15 450 and it worked without issues. Steering stem will be your biggest issue from the 16 though.
I’ve been wondering if I was gonna have to swap hubs and wheels out too, thanks for the info
In my case I had a Haan wheel so I just bought the spacers / bearings for an YZF (as the hub itself is the same). Not sure about the stock hub tho
