Well it appears Oregon is the test dummy to see how things go. They wrote and approved new laws for small farmers to cease operations via satellite who have wells on their property as well as stating that the well water is not yours. It is in fact the states. Apparently Poland and a few other agriculture countries are having the same thing happen to them. Water and food control. Wow

Excessive regulations pushed a friend's small farm in Pennsylvania out of selling milk and cheese directly to customers. Over-regulated BS
This is a big no bueno
Yeah, but 2 morans who think milk grows on the grocery shelf have already down voted it. Anyone against small farmers is amungst the scum of the earth.
Care to elaborate on what law/act you have suddenly become enraged about?
I’ve dealt with water rights off and on for a lot of my life. Probably much more complicated than most people think, but they read a snippet of an op-ed or hear a portion of a podcast and become convinced that they completely understand what the issues are.

Thanks.
Without doing a lot of digging and just relying on the accuracy of the story, this isn’t a case of writing and approving new laws but instead actually enforcing 100+ year old laws.
I’ll agree that it doesn’t seem like a half acre of ‘farmland’ is going to radically affect the water supply, but I disagree that any of this is going to be any new problem for small (or large) farmers. Farmers of all sizes are in no way ignorant of the concept of water rights like this hobby farmer was.
This is not a sign that the apocalypse is upon us……
is there any devolped country in the world that does not have water management systems for commerical use?
This is what democrats wanted .
Dig further
period.
How about you point out these 'new laws'? What you posted is simply the enforcement of long existing laws on people who were ignorant of them.
We are just getting warmed up in the coming battles over water .

Seems like they have made exceptions for certain uses and not others. Wonder why.
sidenote.
I have yet to figure out how to use Italics and Bold in the way i want to on this message board. My first attempt at quote and i am doing no better.
Anyways...I quoted from the link Zycki11 provided about a seeming double standard
Essentially, they are forcing smaller farms that use roughly under 1000 gallons of water to place system in that they can’t afford. therefore shutting down the income and ability to produce on a small scale. It is designed for larger scale operations to prosper. Farmers are popping up everywhere with notices. Also now they are supposed to register chickens 😂.
As for the people who tell me to post a certain link blah blah blah. I purposely try not to do such a thing so someone can do their own research and come to their own conclusions. In this instance, it is old laws and new laws written in to support older laws with overreach.
Big ag likes to help create regulations that give the appearance that they are going along with reasonable safeguards to protect the public and the environment, its good P.R. for the industry. But one of the designed outcomes is that it keeps the large established companies in power and discourages the small producer.
3 cows and they are being treated like a 10,000 head dairy.

"...A CAFO designation would have significant implications for Sarah. She would have to install drain lines and holding tanks whose cost could exceed $100,000 — a steep price for equipment she does not need or want. Large farms must channel their waste, but Sarah methodically rotates her cows between pastures, giving the land a chance to metabolize the waste and use it as fertilizer. The operation is safe, and the state has no evidence of soil or groundwater contamination..."
That’s a perfect example of what they call regulatory capture , the reason lobbyists exist . Sarah’s system is better too .
