😂 how fast do you have to wave it until you can’t see the big Red Cross?!

Not this guy. Can’t stand Jett personally, but I’m also a firm believer that the AMA did AMA things by dicking this one up.

Should have been waving yellow flags prior to the last turn to warn riders as that's typically what you see when there is a Red Cross flag on other parts of the track...it is what it is and the AMA did follow the rules as far as jumping on the Red Cross.

Believe me if there is one rider on the line I would love to see win a SX before the season is over it would be Eli. But what happened last night is just another blemish on the AMA. It’s amazing the entire field wasn’t docked two spots. I am extremely happy for Eli 👍

Even without the flagging controversy,  Tomac would have won the night because of the Jett/Barcia incident in the 3rd race.

...but I agree, the flagging was piss poor here.         That said, the red cross is arguably the most important flag on the field and everyone needs to be aware of it.  There should be no grey area with the flag.    It's wheels on the ground period.

If! you look to the far right, manage to see it and have time to react in the fraction of a second to slow down when the rider is already full on the throttle to clear that jump.

Well at least the AMA didn't let the card girl stumble out on to the track in front of the leaders this weekend! We had all new f-ups this weekend my hats off to the AMA for keeping it interesting this year. They won't be happy until they really get someone hurt.

SMH

I expect this kind of stuff from a local promoter, but not from the premier series.

This video makes things clearer.

12:40. Vince roll and stops. White flag is being waved.

12:48.Red Cross flag comes out. The flag is handed to the guy waving the white and blue. He gives up the blue to hold the Red Cross.

12:54 There's a yellow to warn guys coming into the last corner before the finish line.

13:35 Jett passes the yellow and looks back.

13:42 Jett makes the jump.

Lol, I counted 5 people jumping that , but also why is that a red cross flag, it should have been a yellow. There were no safety crew on the track.

Matthes said on his review pod that a few years ago in Detroit when Dungey missed the flag people were complaining that they couldn’t see the cross on the flag. That’s why they don’t wave it anymore

No way you jump on a Red Cross that blatantly and not get penalized that will be horrible.

Hilarious that you are watching the race then run to vital to post this before actually seeing the outcome of what happened. Chronically online is a disease.

Hmmm...

For the opposite reason I always held a stationary white flag on the last lap, and waved the red cross like it was a windmill in a tornado.

Things moving get more attention in my estimation, but that's just me, and I only had 15 years of experience to refine my practice.

d. Yellow Flag or Yellow Flashing Light

1. Indicates a potentially hazardous situation on or near the racetrack. This includes the sighting or cool down laps.

2. Riders must exercise caution.

3. Passing is allowed.

Another rookie error by Jett, and errors by the more experienced guys not being cautious after a yellow.

Still, stoopid place for a Red Cross flag, poor placement that endangered people rather than having the effect it it meant to have.

AMA should be fined, fired, chastised or get at least together and sort that s**t out.

Would it not have been safer to have them jump?  If someone is down between the takeoff and landing, they could make contact with whoever is down by rolling. I didn't see anyone waving the riders to one side of the track.

And the red cross flag was out when the rider (vince) was not down and injured; he was up and nearly off the track. Should it not have been a yellow?

Yup, no medical personnel on the track, rider was not down, he was up at the edge of the track and aware of the situation....YELLOW FLAG !
