I sure as hell hope not. He has much to explain on this GH debacle. If this is a case of Davey taking his ball and going home, maybe TFS was ahead of his time.

I still can't digest this. It's just way too heavy. This is like taking Anaheim off the SX schedule....all three of them!!!!
You have it backwards.. DC is about signage. When a track builder wants to take down a sign that is mesing up the way he built the track, and DC says no the sign stays and the jump gets made smaller. DC doesn't understand tracks and racing at all.

looks like the facility isn't up to the standard MXSports wants/needs them to be. I say move it down to the Cal speedway and have a west coast daytona outdoor type track, more people and better parking potential. I LOVE GH but there must be some valid reasons to pull out don't cha think?

You have a very backward way of thinking. If I was monster and had paid for a very large sign... I'd want that sign up. I remember DC being very mad about the location of the sign as well. Never mind that this all happened day of the event and it was likely much faster to cut the lip of the jump instead of disassemble a large structure.

Also, Once again I'll add... It very clearly states that Glen Helen is the one pulling out. They did not want to renew the contract with MX Sports. There's a reason they didn't say why.

I too hate to see GH go but I really believe that DC knows what he is doing and I have been more than impressed with what they are doing with the Nationals. The Nats were dying before they took over and I think they understand the long term of the situation. GH needs a National much worse than the Nationals need GH. That is business fact. Now I just hope they all work it out because GH is one of my favorite races.

It seems to me that 11 out of the 12 Nationals don't seem to have a problem. Who has the problem?

Maybe Glen Helen gambled in the negotiations believing DC really wouldn't take it off the schedule... but any track is replaceable. Unfortunate, but is there any chance they'll be back on the schedule in 2011?

I said that when DMG took over AMA Pro, I still believe Hangtown will go away at some point in the near future and a national at Infineon will replace it. So Cal in Fontana. Both in conjunction with the road race events.

The structure was obviously placed on the wrong jump, and by the time they figured it out, it definitely would have been too late to remove it. You don't do target practice with riders in the air through a metal structure. What was done was best for the time available.

Trip, I get that you're upset, but to say that DC doesn't understand tracks and racing is beyond dumb.

Maybe you should read it again....Glen Helen has been running that national for almost 2 decades! Now DC aznd MX sports come in and all of a sudden Glen Helen has to pull out because of contract problems?....If there wasn't a problem with the track the last 20 YEARS they whay all of a sudden is GH not "Up to par?" .....I knoe there are 2 sides but GH has always built a pure example of what MX is....Now im reading things about track lenght and sineage over big jumps? WHO DO YOU THINK PUT THAT IN THERE? Bud Feldekamp? NNNNNNNOPE.

From what Im seeing mxsports is going to ruin MX to it's core. Im sorry and I try to stay neutral about any issue till I hear both sides but I cannot see MXsports side being valid....seems more like a Luongo type operation and the track specs sound like it too. I am furious about losing GH ....anbd WILL NOT be going to Pala if that is where it is moved to.

Think about this.....what about 50% of people that attend GH as an event to enjoy like the superbowl i.e. fair weather mx fans...how are they going to know this happened? For some families they go as a tradition and will not know anything about the specifics of the "changes" and might be offended there is no GH round....it will sound like this "Pala? where is that place?" "We go to GH every year now they moved it to this place called pala?"...Think about those people ....at leasy 75% of them won't go to PALA or won't even be informed about it and this years national at Pala will flop bigtime if held there, For a lot of the fans that attend GH every year it is more of a traditional race to attend...

Only 60 days befor ethe race is supposed to go off and it is not gonna happen plus it's been on the schedule the WHOLE time??? One guy on here alrerady bought his tickets and now has nothing to go to ....think about how many more people worldwide that have already done the same and don't know about this......Angry

What does it matter if the lap times are over 2 mins long?!?!

Is it 30 plus 2, too inconsistent for TV?!?

Yep sound like Luongo too me...And you can'tdo anything at all about it.

Things change, sport changes etc. You may not like it, but it still has to happen. If motocross stays a small sport without income from mainstream companies we can stay the same. But when someone is paying money, when you have to make it easy for television etc then we have to change.

I always feel sorry for the fans when this happens, but for others these are improvement that can make them richer. If DC doesn't put business on top of his agenda Luongo will make a new bid for the nationals and he will get it, believe me. What the hardcore fans think is not very important to those in charge. They must look on the business side and the future of the sport. They have to make decisions that will make them impopular, but after all that's happens to the boss in any business.

It's just business. The sooner you realize that the easier the transition will be. Hate against Luongo or YS wil only divide an already small sport.

IMHO fourstrokes are the bad guys, those are the real threat to our sport.

Where have you guys been the last 3 years?

We almost lost the whole ball of wax to YS, everyone's yelling about how the tracks aren't groomed enough, how the TV isn't enough, attendance isn't enough, there aren't
enough VIP areas, there must be flushing toilets, powerwashers for everyone,
the list went on and on.

Now he tries to give the 'mx public" what they screamed for and that's not enough.

Maybe half of you guys crying should go back an read the posts you put up
when Youthstream was sniffin around..................

YS is doing a good job with the GPs, sounds like Davey wants to do the same for the nationals.

YS have done all the above things for GPs except groom the tracks, they leave pretty much from Saturday until Sunday evening unless it gets really dangerous which is great that is what you want to see pros on rough tracks, with variety of terrain.

yep, read it again. says in bold: "GLEN HELEN DROPS OUT OF AMA NATIONALS"

Not: "MX SPORTS DROPS HISTORIC MX TRACK UNDER INFLUENCE OF GREEDY OCTOPUS!"

as Mr. Dog Wilson says above, 11 of the 12 nationals have no issue.

Sanctioning body has the right to ask for upgrades or whatever and the track has a right to agree or not. As Dave said "It's business",

Won't be the end.

YS do a crappy job? have you been to a GP, the presentation and racing are great.

GPs have had great racing the last couple of years, have you not been watching? You also get 2 days of racing.

And what fake tracks are you talking about? there are only a couple on the schedule, Turkey and the UK GP I think. and the racing is still pretty good on them.

Valkensward, Mantova, St Jean DeAngely, Uddevella, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Lommel, Lierop, Teutchental, Fermo and more have all have been around for years and years...

YS is doing a great job, and Davey is looking to bring the nationals to another level as well, just let them get on with taking motocross outside the little box it was in and let them get on with it.

Neither is perfect and both have negative but things have to move on and both are doing that just be glad that both series are striving to get better and bring more outside media, sponsor and fan attention to motocross.. and you can watch both on the internet free it is win win for the fans. Lets try and look at the positives.

If three tracks on the west coast are having trouble with MX Sports I can just see Youthstream trying to move in and put a couple of GP races on those tracks.

I'll have to wait for DC's official statement before I'd consider throwing him under the bus. He's done too much good for the sport to think he personally would just dry fuck Glen Helen off the map. That said, I sure hope they iron out their differences and come to a workable agreement. Not having GH on the schedule would really suck.

Trip, I get that you're upset, but to say that DC doesn't understand tracks and racing is beyond dumb.
beyond dumb? Yes...but, Trip is never afraid to go beyond.

leaving the track would be good on a soft soil, but on the watered hard pack we get it just makes for one lined tracks, borin races...

Whats up with no purse money? and raping the teams for entry fee? have to admit the racing is good though.
Dirt-Dawg

They are doing it because they can get away with it. They used some of their own money(?) and lot's of money that comes from the teams/riders to make those improvement.

Hopefully they can now attract big companies and get loads of money from marketing. Will this money return to the teams and riders, of course not it will make YS richer.
Why? because they can get away with it.

If the teams like to grow financially they have to go out and find some big sponsors of their own. At least they have a new format that makes it easier.

Great looking races with good facilities, live on Motors-TV and on the internet. All riders get to ride the finals.

Is this all good? Hard to tell. If we change to much the hardcore fan will loose interest maybe. We still don't know if it will attract new fans.

Alternative solution... Bring back twostrokes. Cheaper bikes and less noise makes for more riders. More riders means more money for everyone. Enough money in the mx-industry means we can run things by our own rules. It might not create any multimillionaire riders, but it will bring everything back to how it used to be.

Perfect solution. Everyone rides twostrokes and yet embraces changes that makes mx more attractive for marketing money. More active riders and still lot's of money from outside the sport.

It's pretty clear from the outside that YS has made an impact worldwide. Some of their ideas are good, and some are for the worse. We have to pick the best from other sports, but not loose the sold of MX.
