Good race to go to? It’s almost a 10 Hour drive from Coeur d’Alene, my little girl and I had such a good time in Seattle a few days ago, just wondering if it would be worth it to go to Salt Lake. I’ve been to Anaheim and San Fran when I was a kid. Anything to do around there that’s cool prior to the race?
Last Sunday after Seattle we woke up in Renton and did some mini golf, went to the biggest mall in Seattle, had a good time with my 14-year-old before driving home. I’ve never been to Salt Lake so just seeing if there’s anything cool/worth doing in addition to the race.

And oh yeah, is it always a day race? I always hated when the main events were during the day, couldn’t remember if that takes place in Salt Lake every year or Denver, I thought one of the rounds every year was during the day, but maybe I’m wrong

Do it, you'll never ever, regret the time spent with your daughter! That's a good enough reason to go Smile

I was there last year and it's a good show and a lot of good places to eat.  If you get a chance, the Bonneville Salt Flats are about an hours drive, super cool place to go, almost as if you're on another planet because of the endless white salt and contrasting blue sky.

that does sound pretty cool, I’ll have to look at some images of that for sure

I have seen many finals from the LA Coliseum to Vegas. if it’s not a financial hardship, I would do it.  With the right people, the trip itself is part of the fun and you will have stories to tell for years. If you don’t do it, how else will that weekend be remembered from the rest of the times you watched the final on TV?

I always enjoyed salt lake races. Nice city with lots of fun stuff to do. Looks like gate drop is at 5.

I personally would never attend a finale unless it was a super close championship situation. But SX is always amazing regardless. So if you go, have fun!

Depends what you are looking to do for "fun" with your teen, there are TONS of mountain bike & hiking trails in and around the Salt Lake Valley. Also have Woodward in Park City, can check out the Olympic Ski jump and Olympic museum. The Great Salt Lake / Antelope island is also pretty close by for scenic views and what not.
