Despite the best effort of lawyers, agents, and with letters from the AMA, Feld, CMA, CMRC, Monster, and Kawasaki, time ran out to get Dean Wilson to Dallas for this weekend's Supercross. 

Apparently his pro contract didn't get done until very late in December (when he turned 18), which caused delays in his work visa.

Are you freaking kidding me? I can't believe Mitch wasn't on top of this before the season started. Dean should have had this taken care of ahead of time and Mitch should have made sure it was done. This sucks.

Let the finger-pointing begin as to who should own this....bottom line is one of the guys who makes the east Lites exciting won't be there tonight. Bummer. No one feels as bad as Dean Wilson himself right now, I'll bet.

If this isnt a sign that our sport still hasnt made it to the big time yet then I dont know what is. I feel bad for dean right now, he has done great this year.

I've had dealings with the INS and they are soooo F'ed up you wouldn't believe it so this is par for the course.

Example : Late last year they found thousands of unprocessed green card applications from 1992 in a file that they had all forgotten about.....

that really sucks for Dean Wilson,and for PCK. hopefully they will have this sorted out by the next round.

I read about that last night and couldn't believe it. What freaks me out about this is that it is very common. A year or so ago, a top MX racer that was training here had a practice mechanic that was from another country and his work visa expired and he had to return to New Zealand. A couple months ago, a professional wrestler (yes, I watch wrestling) employed by TNA had to return to Canada because her visa expired. Now she wasn't Hulk Hogan or John Cena status, but she was on Spike TV every week and probably had more tv coverage than Dean Wilson does.
Don't take this as prejudice or turn it into a race issue as I'm just writing facts. I live in a small community whose main industry is agriculture. You wouldn't believe the number of illegal aliens in our city. As some of you know, I'm a police officer. Every two weeks, most of the defendants in our city court are illegal aliens. Most of the offenses are traffic related (DUI, No License, No Insurance, etc.) and minor stuff like Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunk. But, I've arrested illegal aliens for Murder, Aggravated Assault and Child Molestation and none of them have ever been deported. It just makes me angry that people that are gainfully employed and enter the country legally are being deported or not allowed to enter our country and illegal aliens that are criminals are not being deported.

Dean had two flights scheduled to try and make it here. Rather than risk causing more future problems with travel, the team opted to have him sit out this race.

I believe you will find Tony Gardea was responsible for Dean's immigration lawyers, not PC.

It is most likely a case of a high-roller, US based legal team missing some of the twists and turns in the system.

To leave the country Dean would not even have to pass or talk to a Canadian immigration agent only upon his return would he talk to Canadian agents.

PC is one of the biggest teams in the sport, and they dropped the ball on this bigtime. Can you see this happening in football, soccer, baseball, or any other mainstream sport?

I did hear that a $500/hr. lawyer was working on it all week long.

Everything had been in process for a while. Even up until the last-minute they thought stuff was going to be done in time.

If we're going to blame anyone, I'd say blame Bin Laden. Ever since 911 things have been a lot tighter. Heck, even last weekend I got pulled into secondary inspection when entering Canada. With raised eyebrows I got a, "Have you ever been in trouble with the law?" And while leaving last week, we were run through what several of us nicely referred to as The Gauntlet. I've never seen so many police inspectors. Either the government knows something that we don't, or they're REALLY makng sure that they don't let the next terrorist through.

Anyway, pointing fingers and trying to do a blame game really isn't productive, and it's also not going to change anything for this weekend. Everyone put in their best efforts, and immigration dropped the ball.

Most likely it's a Canadian issue. A buddy of mine is a rock concert production manager and he says Canada is one of the hardest countries to get in and out of.
