Don't worry guys. Riley and mccread are both infected with the "hate america first" bug. We've been seeing it for a long time. I think mccread just hit the juice a lot harder than normal tonight.
i find it funny when you guys call me an american hater, you are the ones who shit talk every thing non american mostly out of ignorance........i take my time to get well informed about america and their sport, enjoy following us mx, show respect for everybody that deserves and if i have some crictics i always explain why.........
from my point of view, guys like you end up being much worse to america then me, with the ignorance and bad atitude that is usually shown, you guys give a much worse image of american than i can ever do even if i wanted to......
if you would get some information and respect for the others, you would be far better persons and a proud motive for all the good and respectable american people.........
calling an american hater to anyone who gets upset by all the bullshit you say to bad talk all the rest of the world is the proof of how ingnorante you really are that cant even argue reason..........
i am sorry to all you nice faulks........but some respect to all non americans form this litle bratts is long dued here.........!!!!!!!!!!!

agree good post Riley.. and again the top US riders and the series are on a similar level to the top riders from the world championship, if they (RV, Alessi, Dungey, Stewart)stepped up to the GPs they would be title contender or race winners for sure just like the other 12 guys in the series this season .

But you cannot say they would be a level ahead just because of their nationality, there is a big difference racing in your own country on 12 tracks that are pretty similar all year to living in a foreign country and racing in 14 different countries on a big variety of tracks

Anyway, I look forward to the AMA outdoors just as much as the GPs, this year both will be fantastic, I am looking forward to seeing several top international riders race the British championship this weekend as well.

Sigh Pilotdude....Again I love America especially American MX/SX, just becasue I dont think your national series is superior or more prestigious than a world championship, doesn't mean I hate America.

Just because I don't think top American riders are on another level to Cairoli and co doesn't mean I hate America, Just because I think Cairoli would maybe beat JS in a GP series doesn't mean I hate America. I think top riders from all nationalities are all pretty similar in speed in a neutral series (the GPs) I respect them all. I don't look at nationality I look at the rider on the bike. Canard and Dungey are two of my favourite riders as was RC. I

Loving America doesn't mean I have to think it is superior, because it is not. I follow AMA racing just as closely if not more closely than most of you, I probably have more footage of US racing than you, I like it as much as World Championship or British motocross racing.

Mccread, you're from Ireland, right? Or is it another British territory? I forget.

But what I do remember distinctly from my time living in Europe is northern Europe's contempt and outright disdain for southern Europeans, especially Italians (although the Greeks are getting pretty high on the list... And Riley, they don't think much of Portugal or Spain either).

So, now you embrace an Italian champion as your own? How many of you didn't even want them in the EU? (and yes, I know GB still uses the pound).

Basically, you hate America. We get it. So much that you'll cheer an Italian whom you'd rather not exist, over any American in any sport. Is this the gist?

Maybe you not personally, don't know ya that way. But I know your continent first hand. Smile
OK What on earth are you talking about?! There is so much incorrectness and nonsense in that post I don't know where to start!

What are you on about people not wanting Italy in the EU and where do you get that from, never heard that before in my life. I don't see my self as European in the first place so all this people hating southern Europeans I actually don't have a clue what you are on about they are all different countries to me just like the US!

I am not claiming Cairoli as my own he is from a different country, but he is the World Champ, if an American was a World Champion I would say the same thing which is that they are the World Champion! ie. Ben Spies was the best Superbike rider in the world last year.

Am I not allowed to be a fan of Cairoli or somthing, do I have to to say British riders are better than Tony to be patriotic or somthing? Obviously I wanted Searle or Simpson to win the title in 2008 but I that doesn't mean I am blinded to the sheer brilliance of Cairoli or Pourcel. Nationality doesn't mean as much to me as it seems to Americans.

I am a fan of motocross lots of riders from all different countries including American riders.... obviously I would prefer Searle and Simpson to win the AMA and GP titles this year in MX2 . But I love watching their rivals like Pourcel ride, Trey Canard has a great attitude and deserves a title. Weimar has an awesome style. In GPs I love watching Paulin ride, same with Musquin, Roczen is one of the most amazing riders I have ever seen. They are all competing against the British and Irish riders but I can still respect them and be fans or International riders and am able to accept they may be better than riders of my nationality.

You cannot say RV would dominate a GP season... no-one knows and there is no basis to say he would other than national pride and arrogance that is all it is. That is wrong and very disrespectful to the rest of the world.

RV is a phenomonal talent just like AC and co. but there is nothing to say he would dominate a World Championship or even win it- he might win it and he might not just like any other top rider. GP racing is totally different.

People that think the AMA series is superior to the World championship is again nothing more that national arrogance. The fact that GP riders run with the Americans in their own country proves Americans are not better than riders from other countries they are just as good and have more good riders than other countries at that standard becasue of their size. But again if you had the best 20 European riders v top 20 American riders it would be pretty close Europe would probably win.

Top riders are top riders irrespective of their country that is what I look at, the rider not the nationality, but I still support riders from my own country. The standard in the AMA is similar to GPs but it is totally different, one is a neutral World Championship and one is an American National Championship where Americans should be fast. All riders are fastest in their own country.

Nothing OFFICIAL here but I do think that James will we be working on a deal to race the full series outdoors

My thoughts why:

1. He loves racing and winning.

2. He truly wants to race the outdoors, it's his team that doesn't (or didn't)

3. His team and sponsors havn't exactly done a lot of winning this year. Certainly not the season they were hoping for.

4. By putting all your eggs in one basket (SX only) you don't have much to bargain with for the following year when your SX season ends early. This applies to James and his team when sourcing sponsorship $$$ for next year.

5. Outdoors is Bubba's world. You don't go 24-0 when you suck at MX...

Personally I can't think of anything better than seeing JS7, RV, CR and RD all on the line together outdoors. Whether you're a fan of any or none of these riders that would be one hell of a battle. Then throw in #800, BT101, Hahn, the Moss twins, Short, Saps, Hot Sauce and many more and you have one heck of a season coming up. Whether you like him or not, it's exciting to think that Bubba could be part of the action. As a fan of the sport, I certainly hope so.

Again, these are just my thoughts. Nothing official here. Now move along....

Really? If that were the case, tell me why we win the MXoN 95% of the time over the past 30 years. Especially since 98% of those MXoN races have been in EUROPE on your soil???

I agree there are some fast guys over there, but you have to look at guys like Searle who were dominant over there and look at him here! Even your alls best guys that DO come over here say they do it because they want to race against the BEST riders in the world. That puts it all in to perspective right there.

McCread, I would to personally invite you to your first AMA Motocross race this year so you can see things a little better in your mind's eye. You keep serving up this US-versus-Yourope stuff, yet I don't think you've ever seen our guys in person, on their home tracks, in races that matter to them as individuals. Your constant tone here is that no Americans will "step up" to race the world championships. Well, I don't believe that Pourcel, Rattray and Searle "stepped down" by coming here. Just come over and ask them for yourself. I don't see anyone on here disrespecting the GPs until you start your bench-racing engine and start talking down on the American circuit.

You wonder why people come on here and debate you? It's because you keep asking for it. Now I'm asking you to step up and come to a national and see for yourself. I'll make sure you have the best seat in the house.

Its funny how this thread went from JS7 racing the outdoors to the never ending story from "AMA vs GP".

As a really big fan of Motocrossin general, I am just happy to have the opportunity to watch two great MX-Championships each year. Each one has its heroes, his own atmosphere and history. So for me as fan it just doesnt matter which series is faster than the other one, as long as the races deliver great racing.

Aren't there enough enemies for the MX-Sport in the world?
In every country around the world MXers have to face difficulties, closed tracks, etc...
Is it really necessary to start a "war" inside our loved sport? We (racers, organisers, fans) should stand together, helping each one out and protecting our sport against the threads from outside.

Why cant we all just enjoy the races, without bashing some other riders or other series?
For sure everyone has his favourite, but then please show some respect to the others!

Just one thing dude : Europe is not a country. USA has won MXdN on a regular basis because they have great riders (no doubt about that) and great series indoors and out, but also, like Mcread said, because it is the side of Europe. But we have to spread in their respective nations. Do it a Euro vs USA vs Australasia, for exemple, and things will get more even. Heck, Belgium is actually smaller than RC's backyard!!!

Actually all I said was I think Cairoli could beat Stewart over a GP series.. then this started. That was not putting Stewart down either, Stewart may well be faster than AC but I wonder if in his first year if he would be consistent enough to win a GP title with all the changes he would be facing.

The same applies to this year nationals and that is why I think RV could have a chance of beating him in that title, he might not be quicker than James but he could still win the title. That doesn't mean he couldn't win a GP title of course he could James is amazing especially his raw speed.

Unless I say the US nationals are superior to GPs and American riders are superior to GP riders then I am accused of putting the US down. Saying they are a similar standard is not putting them down!

I am not putting the US nationals down they are the best national championship in the world..and the level is pretty much the same as the GPs because America is such a huge country, it fluctuates year to year I would say. I watch and follow it as much as British, Irish and World racing.

I would love to attend a national that is still one of my dreams. But I have seen 2 AMA supercross races there last year, I have rode at Glen Helen, rode with Canard in 2007 even. I saw Stewart race 4 times last year, Dungey and Weimar 3 times. America is fantastic for motocross and so are the riders!

But The American nationals is a national championship just like the British nationals, or French nationals, Belgian or Australian. This not Europe v USA, and I don't see myself as European nor do I see the GPs as my series it is an international championship and the only international motocross series there is, that is why is is more prestigious ans the fairest indication of the best rider.

I can't wait till the Nationals start in May I look forward to that as much as the GPs and would love to get to the first roundespecially .The level is the same. But Americans racing in their own country are going to be unbelieveably fast, just like other riders racing in their own country and style of tracks. Irish riders are at their fastest on Irish tracks too.

That is why It is not a fair comparison to constantly compare US riders in their own country to foreign riders competting there. I believe only a World championship is a fair comparison... but Americans don't really have an interest in racing it and that is a shame because they are good enough to challenge for World titles. On the other hand as a fan I get to watch two great series of a similar standard instead of just one!

But that is still why I put the World Championship as more prestigious because all the riders are racing and adapting to different countries and track every week. Not because the riders are superior to the riders in the AMA, they are all similar.

The highest accolade in sport is to be World Champion that is why the World Championship is more prestigious than an AMA national title. I would prefer to win a World title than a US national title but ideally I would like to win both and a British and Irish national title ha ha.

It just seems to be American fans that think an RV is vastly superior to AC or the Nationals are superior to the World series, It is all similar but different. AC is not superior to RV they are all similar at that level. It is very small details at that level.

But the world championship is the only neutral International series to make a fair comparison.

No foreign rider steps down to race the AMA series it is a sideways step, the AMA series is similar in quality to the GPs. The standard is the same that is why top GP riders can compete at the front of the nationals, but it is a different style of racing, the tracks are smoother and all similar and reward aggression and intensity more and it is those who can adapt that will do well in the US as well as adapt to the heat.

Just becasue you win a World title does not mean you will dominate in America against Americans on their own tracks, but the top GP guys are competitive and that is only a very very small percentage of the talent in the GPs. So it is clear the US series or US riders are not any better they are just a similar level - all world class.

But if anyone thinks it is easier for Stewart or RV to race and win in the GPs thatn racing in their own countries motocross series then they are deluded. In no way would it be easier it would be just as difficult on the riding front and more difficult in the living aspect.

Just because I don't put the AMA series ahead of a World championship in terms of prestige doesn't mean I am putting the AMA series down. It is the best national series in the world. I think it is pretty arrogant to say a national championship is more prestigious that a world championship even if the standard of riding is similar.

A World title will always be the pinnacle of outdoor motocross becasue it races in different contries in different terrain and tracks.

A national series by defiinition is in a country but America is absolutely huge that is why the series is similar in quality to the World Championship.

I have DVD reviews of the GP, AMA nationals and the British Nationals I like it all equally - in fact the AMA nationals are the best to watch becasue of the quality coverage and commentary of Jason and DB.

But I wonder how many Americans have seen more than their own national series on DVD.

ha ha the amount of ignorance in your post in unbelievable - how can you actually be that ignorant? you do understand the MXDN has nothing to do with Europe it is a nations race.

You also understand that if you look at it as Europe, that European riders won all of the races at the MXDN except one?

This is where the MXDN misleads a lot of Americans becasue of the their attempts to bring Europe into the Nations. If Europe sents a team to race the States of America Europe would win most times, If European countries were against the states, the countries would be very competitve, heck European countries were unlucky not to beat the entire nation of the USA last year.

All the best guys do not go to the US most stay in GPs, the last 4 World MX1 champions have not went to the states. America is the best nation but it is not better than European riders that you all constantly refer too...

Top 20 Europe

Cairoli,

Yeah, but are you going to take DC up on his offer?

Because if you don't, you're even crazier than we thought, possibly crazier than Tony A. Unsure

I am not up on what the top GP riders make right now. JS, CR and RC (when he was racing) each are making between $5 to $10 million a year. I believe it is normal for a racer to go where they can make the most money. What are the guys winning the GP championship earning?

That was more from supercross than outdoors.. I think for outdoors it is pretty competitive, and yes I mayb be able to get to Steel City this year and stay through to the MXDN....

ha ha the amount of ignorance in your post in unbelievable - how can you actually be that ignorant? you do understand the MXDN has nothing to do with Europe it is a nations race.

What? You say I am posting nonsense? Exactly what happened at Buds Creek when Europes riders came over here for the MXoN? The MXoN overseas are always held on GP tracks are they not? Last year we sent our B squad for the most part and still won.

In years past we sent our best and they pretty much dominate on GP turf, so I have no idea how you think the GP guys would come over here and dominate on our turf. I guess you will get a good dose at the MXoN this year in September.

wow you actually are really really dumb aren't you?

Did you watch the Nations last year?

I see you don't understand the concept of individual rider speed at all or maybe you just ignore it.

The track at the nations last year was in the country of Italy and has never been raced before... and an American only won one moto. In their classes France won 3 motos, Belgium won one, US one and Cairoli one.

The MXDN is about countries, either talk about countries or talk about European riders v American riders but do not mix the two as you are doing...in order to justify your deluded arguement.

What exactly is your point here? Are you saying Americans are better than European riders or are you saying America won the Nations team event against other countries - which has nothing to do with Europe?

You see Winning the Nations doesn't mean Americans are better than Europeans.

Nor does it mean that individually those riders are better than the best riders from other countries - Tedesco is not better than Cairoli or Reed because he won the nations.

Again a GP series has nothing to do with the MXDN so the team results at the MXDN are not really an indication.

Are you talking about countries or Europe combined here?

If you are talking about European riders then they won most of the races at the MXDN.

You do realise Reed was you national Champion last year, Pourcel won more motos than anyone in MX2 last year? So actually the foreign riders are doing pretty well in the US.

When was the last time you dominated outside of the US indiviually -1996 probably?

If you look at individual results US riders have split results with the GP riders, collectively they win becasue they are from the same country not becasue they are faster.

In 2005 only RC won his class, in 2006 the US didn't win a moto bar RVs win Europe won the rest. 2007 American killed it individually but they where in there own country. In 2008 they won the event but it was pretty close, and moto wins where split again. In 2009 only one moto was won out of 6...

So actually factually you are wrong, America win the team event but individually the top riders are a similar level to the other top riders from other countries. And winning the Nations is nothing like winning an Individual World title over 15 rounds either.

Top US racers are great i love watching them just like top racers from other countries they are all a similar level and have slightly different strengths and weaknesses.

The length of mccread's post is indicative of his need to defend his indefensible remarks. When someone as well-read, fair-minded and patient as DC calls a guy out, something is rotten in Denmark--or in this case Ireland.

It doesn't matter how many times mccread belittles and degrades U.S. riders, the U.S. Nationals (without ever having been to one in person), or U.S. fans--he "loves U.S. MX and SX as much as the GPs"--didn't you know?

It doesn't matter how many times the U.S. wins the MXDN, whether total number of wins or wins in a row--it's the "format" that gives the U.S. the advantage--right?

No worries that the MXDN has only been held on U.S. soil twice in the last 30 years and that our teams win most of the time after battling jetlag, over unfamiliar tracks on foreign soil with foreign crowds rooting against them--it's only a "one off" race and so doesn't really count you see.

Apparently Ryan Villopoto going 3-0 both in MDXN team competition and individual MX2 titles, including destroying the best riders in the world by over a minute in his MDXN 2007 appearance means nothing. He is no better than anyone else, of course--especially an Italian who blows himself up trying to keep him in sight.

No problem that for almost 2 decades the flow of top-level talent has been and continues to be a one-way flow of GP champions to USA-- JMB, Albertyn, Roncada, Tortelli, Langston, Pourcel, Vuillemin, Searle, Rattray, Townley,etc--they just do it "for the money." Most champions are that way you know. They do it "for the money", not out of their desire to test their skill against the yardstick for excellence.

It's irrelevant that virtually all of the GP riders who come to the U.S. are welcomed and cheered for their racing and eventually adopted as one of their own--U.S. fans are "ignorant and arrogant" and can only see the "stars and stripes"--no doubt.

And of course, it is meaningless that no "world championship" rounds are held in the U.S., the most dominant motcross nation. After all, they hold a round in Turkey you know. And the U.S. has nothing on Turkey where motocross is concerned. Besides, the U.S. fans "were to arrogant to show up"--haven't you heard?

Some people actually believe this stuff. And we wonder why the world is in the shape it is in.

Precisely !

McCread, shut it !

But, back to the thread, exactly how many Nationals does Stewart feel he has to race to nominate himself for the Nations ? Sounds to me like the soccer prima donnas who have such egos that they expect the side to be picked around them. Perhaps Stewart, Alessi and ??? could nominate themselves for the US of A with a little help from Red Bull .... and Roger could go with Villopoto, Dungey and Canard for Puerto Rico and kick their ass ! ;-)

PS: This post comes from Europe ! We are not all like McCread !
