The negative - she was in a fire
Nice original bikes are getting harder to find. These guys should have most of what you need to get it back in super shape.

That does not look that bad really when you look closer, despite the initial shock.
What are you talking, new rear fender, tank, side panels and seat?
Did the airbox survive ?
Maybe rather(very) hopeful but possibly worth a shot- could even try blowing out the depression of the gas tank with a hot air gun and compressor into sealed tank, blow it out if possible and then try and sand off the smaller heat bubbles maybe. May not look great but may even salvage a spare practice tank
Looks like the bike survived the fire luckily, I always liked the cantilever 78-81 Yz's before they went monoshock.
Update * She's finished up. Fresh bore, seals, pistons, filter, some plastic and a custom-made silencer as the DG one looked hideous. Used IT400 Footpeg mounts to lower the pegs a little over 1" to help move around.
Already took her for a rip and crashed.. lol
Beautiful YZ, and nice work!
Always love the last cantilever YZ's
Beautiful restoration and diggin the white side plates. Those were really good bikes and a great find for you. Hope you enjoy and race safe.
Nice find!
Had one when I was 17 yeras old, weighed about 130 pounds fully geared up, Holesshot many a race. Loved that bike, 125 that year not so much.
What a bike! So nice and fun to ride 👌
