I wouldn't even ride during the week to risk injury. I would just focus on fitness and mentality. He clearly has the speed and has the bike dialed. Why risk it practicing during the week? Every time you're on any track you risk injury that could ruin your season. Over the years there have been many riders injured during the week. Sexton being a recent one that might have put him out of the championship. Everyone else needs to ride to get their speed and fitness up and to dial their bike. In my opinion, someone in Jett's position is an exception. Do you agree?
Poll
Can I put poll in your poll?
Should Jett have to race the races ? _____
Should the AMA just pencil in the win? _____
Routine, focus, keep working.
I think he should just keep doing what he is doing. Injuries also happen when You get out of a routine. Others before him have been able to stay healthy , it's part of being an all timer. Avoiding injuries so You are able to show up and race.
I was never able to feel comfortable not riding during the week and just racing. But there are some local Pro/Expert class racers who will work a 60 hour week and never ride except on race day. I'm sure there are people in every class doing that too.
But I used to ride with a local Pro that won the 1255 Pro class tile in NESC and got multiple top 15 overall finishes at nationals, his best being a 7th in a moto. And when we went riding he would do a single moto. Go out and ride a single tank until it ran out. Then go back to his van and have a beer. My buddies and I would be doing multiple 15 minute motos . And I was always amazed how he rode 1 or 2 times during the week and then was so fast at the races. He would come past me seemingly a gear or 2 higher, and just float through the bumps as I slammed my way through. I learned so much the few seconds per lap I was able to be beside him as he lapped me. But I still think that if he rode more, he might have been even better. Still I would have been happy with his results.
I think Jett should keep doing what he is doing though. Whatever it is seems to be working.

What if he just loves to ride and want to do it as much as he can?…
At this point, I wouldn't change a thing.
He's whippin' ass quite well as it is.
Sounds like he's smart enough not to over race the track.
Which really seems to be his only competition.
Just glad you are not Jett
He has a 13 points lead... One bad start on a one-lined track and it can be back to 0-5 points
I would stay away from booze, hookers and blow.
Yes, just ask the other J. Lawrence...
If you were Jett, you would do exactly what Jett does, because you would be Jett.
I love these kinds of posts. Who was it?

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Whatever he’s currently doing is working. Any change to that could have the opposing outcome and he goes backwards. Likely, unlikely? Who knows.
Correct me if I'm wrong his last major injury was when he went over the bars vs ferrandis like 4 years ago.
Jett riding style is pretty much the epitome of safety.
No, didn't he have to switch coasts in 2022 when he was on the 250 because he got injured at a practice track?

Wally Silva was the local Pro. His kid Matt is racing now and has a Pro lic. too. So far he has not been as fast as his dad, but he lives moto.
For how easily this season can change. He could easily drop out of the lead in 1 race. And I'm guessing he'll still have a couple "bad" finishes left in the year.
Pit Row
If I were Jett, I'd be seeing how many Monster girls I could convert over to RedBull, if ya know what I mean.
I was at Steel City one year and parked out in the back of the pro pits in the privateer area. We were parked across from a kinda sketchy looking toterhome . I was on my way back to the pits , to the van we were pitted out of after practice . And the YOT golfcart was parked right in the middle of the road. I got in to move it, and as I got in the rider I was with pulled up behind me and started to bump the cart as I started to move it. Jason Lawrence came out of the Toter, BIG cloud of smoke billowed out the door as he came out.
I had heard stories of him being a dick, so I was ready for something wild. He was super polite and said he would move the cart. even saying " I'll park over there, I would never want to get some bodies area dirty" . He wanted to avoid getting mud on another racers pit mat. So he move it out of the way and the rider and I went back and laughed as we went over his lap times.
The rider I was with was in the 450 class, J.Law was in the 250 class. After the second practice. In which Jason got the fastest lap. But they took it away from him because he stopped to help a rider who crashed and broke their leg. They had just made the rule that You could not stop on the track or they would take Your fast lap. So after all the practices are over I'm eating at our pit area and getting ready to watch the motos.
The rider I was there with ended up not qualifying ( his shoulder popped out the night before in our hotel room, I tried to help him but it resulted in loud screams and story for another day). Not long after we got the bike washed J law came out of the toter across from us with another giant cloud of smoke that was similar to a cheech and chong movie. Jason's eyes bloodshot and a giant grin on his face. As he was walking away somebody from inside the toter opened the door and yelled out into the pits, " Hey Jay, You forgot Your bowl". And Jason went , grabbed the bowl/pipe from they guy, jumped into the YOT golf cart and drove back to go race and he ended up 12th overall.
I don't remember how he was riding. But I was surprised he got the fastest lap while he was high. And how he was not really trying to hide it at all. Other people heard and saw what we saw. And for years I never told the story. Now its just one of many out there. And I was blown away by how nice he was after hearing stories.
There is no replacing time on the bike
