Just curious what you guys think at this point. Mx1 1st Clement Desalle 2nd Tony Cairoli 3rd Ken De Dyker Ramon and ,Philippaerts, should be right...
Just curious what you guys think at this point.

Mx1

1st Clement Desalle

2nd Tony Cairoli

3rd Ken De Dyker

Ramon and ,Philippaerts, should be right up there too but I think CD25 and TC222 just have too much speed for them and I think the 2010 yamaha will agree with big Ken really well for some reason. My dark horse for the mx1 class this year is Rui Goncalves. I've never seen him on a mx1 bike so it's tough to put him in the top 3 but it wouldn't surprise me if he won a GP or two this year. Albertson is a dark horse too but I don't think he'll win a GP although I do see him possibly hitting the podium a couple times.

Mx2

1st Marvin Musquin

2nd Ken Roczen

3rd Gautier Paulin/Shawn Simpson ---Toss up

I think the dark horse in the mx2 is Jeffrey Herlings. The kids fast and will for sure win at least 1 maybe 2 GP's but I don't see him being a title threat til he gets a full year of GP's under his belt. Frossard could show up and be the man too on the PC bike but he's never shown great consistency so it's tough to put him in the top 3 overall.

Both fields are deep and with the new mandatory age limit for mx2 now it's going to make the mx1 class deeper and deeper each year. Can't wait for the GPs to start.

I hope you're right about Osbourne. Problem is before he got hurt he was inconsistent and after he got hurt he had no speed. I hope he's done his off season work and proves you right.

If I had to pick a dark horse in MX2, It would probably be Christophe Charlier over Jeffrey Herlings.
The kid did great during the first two rounds of the Italian Championship and was really close to Gautier Paulin.

Yeah Charlier is defenaitly not a dark horse, Herlings didnt had much to him in 09 European Ch, and neither had Roczen those rounds he raced

I agree guys but also remember Herlings was what ,,14 years old last year? However old he was (14,15,16?)it was still his rookie season as a pro. And take into mind guys that Herlings won 6 out of the last 10 motos of the European Championship too. So it looked to me and everyone else that Herlings started figuring it all out late in the season. Charlier should show and prove this year too though. .

Guys,Is Mike Kras racing all the GP's this year? I know it was his local track in the Netherlands so he had an advantage(Home track super powers as McGrath puts it.lol)but the kid looked fast. He went like 5-8 for 5th overall in his only GP. I thought even though he only raced his home GP the kid could for sure be a contender if he put the work in. Netherlands was his home GP but it was also by far the toughest GP and the kid did 40min no problem there.

MX1:
Cairoli ( absolute fastest MX1 pilot)
Poucel ( making up for a lost 09 season )
Goncalves ( training with Cairoli )

MX2
Paulin ( it's his year )
Musquin ( steady )
Roczen ( not ready yet to be a champ )

MX1

Wow tough to call...

1. Cairoli
2. Desalle
3. Philippaerts

Nagl and Ramon are the two most likely to break into the top 3 at the end of the season De Dycker, Pourcel, Strijbos Barragan all could but consistency could be an issue.

As for Albertson if Jimmy finished top 10 OA at the end of the year it will be a success.

MX2

probably 3 from Paulin, Roczen, Musquin, Simpson and Frossard.

1. Musquin
2. Simpson
3. Roczen

But any of the top 4 could be world champion as could frossard if his sand and consistancy improves... Herlings, Charlier, Van Horebeck Osborne could all take race wins too.

Can't wait until round 1!

Jeffro...u should know the answer to my question about Kras since he's your hometown boy. Do you know if he's racing the whole GP series this year?..

Mccread.. I agree that if Albertson gets top 10 in the series it's a success. Those that picked him top 3 have absolutely no clue how strong the GP's are and have no respect for the GP's. I think Albertson will be lucky to podium a moto let alone overall for the series.

Nope, Mike is planning to do the Dutch and Belgium Nationals and the GP's held in both countries. He'll be on a 450 this year, became too big for a 250.

Dan ... Mike will ride the Dutch and Belgian championship in the MX1 class on a KTM SX450F and hopefully a wild card for some GP's.

I don't understand why he wouldn't race the GPs. Seems like after getting 5th overall in his only GP last year a team would of given him a ride.

He's on a small team which can't afford to race the series. And yes, he did very good at Lierop. He did race V'waard tho. 15th or something like that.

That's prettty cool..Glad to see kevin getting another shot with a decent team. I think the guys got a lot left to show. Unfortunately he was too injured when he was w/factory Honda to get anything done.

I sure hope Marc Deruever starts to step it up too. How can a guy be among the fastest in the world on sand(if not the fastest) and be a back of the packer on every other dirt? That's never made sense to me. The guy can hall ass for 40 min in the toughest conditions but can't last more then 20 min on perfectly groomed loamy tracks?..lol

Sorry Dan, but neither Strijbos nor de Reuver has the mental strength to do it over a season, just like appears to be the case with Millsaps for example, that's why none of the factories are interested any more.

Mike Kras is a really nice guy, but to put his performances into perspective, he went 29-20 at the Nations, and that is his level away from the Dutch/Flemish sand. That stuff is something special, Mantova is hard-pack compared to Lierop, and Jimmy Albertson said Mantova was the roughest track he ever rode. They make Southwick look like tarmac !

And forget Charlier for top placings. Yeah, he was second to Paulin in Italy, but half a minute back. That makes him 8th-10th in GPs. The Euro series is only a feeder class, the level past the top three is more like a local race, and the race he beat Roczen at the start of last year, the German was only using it for practice. Nothing over here counts except the GPs and the Nations. Hardly any top ten GP racers even race their national series any more: Cairoli, Philippaerts, Desalle, Pourcel, Musquin, Paulin, Simpson, Roczen - none of them will contest more than selected races.

Update Sunday am: Ferrandis qualified eight second down on Frossard at the French championship, and Herlings and Van Horebeek were both more than two seconds back from Frossard.

You're wrong about Charlier in the last round of the italian championship : he was half a minute back in one moto because he fall down, not because a lack of speed ...

and in the other three motos ? He got beaten four times, and Paulin isn't even on the same planet as Roczen. Charlier may be the same speed as Herlings, but he just got beat by Frossard by 20 seconds; even Aubin beat him by ten and Teillet was 3rd.

And for those who think Roczen can't race sand, he just beat "Belgian sand expert" Roelants (the guy everyone thought was Cairoli when he practised in Socal) by 32 seconds at Hawkstone Park !

Paulin and roczen not on same planet ?, they are such as fast and good,
Funny thing: neither roczen or this Herlings kid had much against Charlier in the Emx2 2009,

and just cuz Aubin beats him in 1 moto doesnt mean he aint fast because Aubin has the speed to win a gp too !!

get some fuggin fact before u speak !!!!!

French, I see !

Last ten Euro motos of 2009: Charlier (18 years) 3 wins, Herlings (14 years) 6 wins. Fact

Portugal: 1 Roczen (14 years), 2 Herlings (14 years), 4 Charlier. Fact

Aubin GP 2009: 1 x third
Aubin GP 2008: 2 x third
sole career GP win: 29 July 2007. Fact

Roczen (15 years) has raced 10 GPs against Paulin (19 years) and beaten him six times, four times in their last five meetings. Fact

At Valence last month Roczen passed Paulin in race one. He didn't need to do so to win race two; he only had to pass the 09 world champion from France. In the race together withthe 450s Paulin rode his GP bike from 12th to 8th, Roczen rode a modified stocker from 15th to 10th to win the class overall. Fact

Marc is either running top 3 of he's DNF'in.

Today at hawkstone he was going very good and went down on his shoulder hard....picked his bike back up and rode to second. That's something you don't see very often from him. He has the speed.

I sure hope he does... It would be nice to have a consistent American on the podium in that series to root for. I already like watching the GP's as much as I like watching the AMA series and having an American to root for would make it even better.

I think Roczen and Musquin in MX2 could push the pace to a level rarely seen before those two guys are special special talents... the question will be who can step up to that level... I think Simpson Paulin and maybe Frossard.

The MX2 GPs in 2010 could be one to remember maybe one of the greatest series of all time with the guys riding at a pace that maybe only a Cairoli or Pourcel could match over the last 10 years.
