Also along that same time I would go to St Pete and if you would volunteer to be a flagman they would pay you and give you lunch. The first crash next to the jump I was stationed at was either Mickey or Rudy Haynes. (his chain came off) As his dad was pushing his bike away I looked at how little he was(maybe 7 or 8) and thinking " I wish I could do that" . (I was 15).
Tom Magee, lives around the corner from me and does all my plumbing (home for you smartasses).
Keith Perry, though already mentioned sprays my home once a month, keeping the bugs out.
I ran into Jeff Fritz in Tijuanna FLats in Clermont a few months back.
Always fun talking moto with Tom and Keith.
Got my first bike from Woody at Honda of Orlando in '73. It was an XR 75. Those were the days.
I know, STFU Noob!!!
how ever i did know the Perrys, Kieth and his parents and lil bro, and thats cool he must have taken over the bug thing from his dad, because i remember his dad owning a bug exterm. company called astro pest control ? something, any ways we stayed at the perrys house a few times, when we would race orlando the next day, very cool people.
hey project racer,
one of my best friends , Joe Cartier , also had a Yamaha support ride thru Barneys, in the later 70s,, Barneys sponsered alot of top riders from back then, well from the st pete tampa area
Do you remember Kim Nattress? He rode with the Perry's too, a lot of style.
Croom, Jeff Fritz killed it at Diamondback on the 125's, I think he had a factory Suzuki ride for a short time?!
You are right, Tom rode Maicos, I just saw him a few minutes ago, he drove by my houes in his wife's Prius (lol) he honked and waved, I was on my front porch.
Of course, you can't forget Kenny Keylon.
I raced from 76 - 79. A few names I raced with that I don't think I've seen mentioned are:
Ricky Crum, Mark Cassels, Terry McKamey, Steve Rejda, John Collins.
I have a ton of pics along with a lot of mx news results/standings from those years if there's a way to post them somewhere.

well north still races mtb's in florida as does his wife. quehl? i think he still races mtb's. his son is at least. last time i seen him was 04? and he did mention moto was his past life.lol
Tom and Dave Wagner...at least in the 80's, they owned the yama and kawasaki dealerships in orlando.dave helped me out when i was racing yamahas then.
I think the owner's name was Roger. Can't remember the last name though. He used to sponsor a lot of guys and was always really nice. He was always offering advice and being helpful even though I rode yamahas. I know he sponsored a few riders from N. Fla.

Haven't race much during the past decade but within the past year I started racing(more often) again. I just raced my new YZ for the first time yesterday and went 1-1. I likely developed my style from watching you first, then Keylon and eventually Bailey.
