IMG 8341Just pulled this out of a barn from a gentleman who had it sitting for a few years, all fluids were drained prior…. What is every one running gas/oil ratio on these bikes?  Trans/oil brand etc.  any help would be greatly appreciated, own numerous dirt bikes but this is my first Husqvarna… going to start stripping it down this week to do a once over and a good cleaning.   All seems to be in tact and overall in great condition, just dirty .  Couldn’t pass it up $$, got it dirt cheap.
thx!

32-40:1 is fine… any wet clutch rated trans oil … no car oil… oil rating should be Jaso Ma/Ma2 rated. I use Rotella T6 in blue container, available at a Walmart near you…nice find…

Nice!!  That website is great, considering parts are hard to come by.

Nice find.

Check the rubber between the carb and reeds, it can perish with age, causing an air leak.

Reroute the front brake line inside the front fork, it's susceptible to crash damage when run outside the fork...

Nice!

I always found that single backbone frame concept interesting with the swingarm basically straddling the frame.

You came in here asking for oil recommendations? Here, I'll summarize it for you:

-Don't ever buy anything but Amsoil. You're a commie if you buy anything else.
-Rotella is the same stuff they put in Yamalube bottles, but costs half as much. Buy it at Walmart.
-Any oil is fine, don't worry about it.
-I only use Maxima, it's the best.
-I only use Pro Honda. If the manufacturer endorses it, it must be the best!
-Make sure you get your oil from a reputable motorcycle brand.
-I only use Motorex, it's the best.
-I only use Motul, it's the best.

...And so on.

I will tell you this: run a premix that you like at a ratio around 32:1. Stick with that brand/blend.
85W Motorcycle Transmission oil or 10W-40 Motorcycle oil in the gearbox, unless the manufacturer recommends 80W. In that case, go with 80W transmission oil or 0W-20/5W-30 motorcycle oil. Do not run Hypoid Gear oil in the transmission.

It used to flex too much and they often threw chains. A tidy design idea in theory but a bit flawed unfortunately.

I had an 86 it was a cool bike. 6 speed if I remember. The kickstart shaft seemed to be a weak point. I was able to get one from the UK but it wasn’t cheap. I’m not sure if it was just my bike but I have never been on a bike that vibrated as much as mine.
