Yes, that doesn't look like the #800 we all know over here. I am sure he's rusty and learning about that bike... As for the rest of it, don't believe everything you read on the internet, unless it comes from Danny Dolan.

McCread, I understand, and I think a big part of the reason Mike gets grief here comes from how people feel about his dad still running his program, right or wrong. He's also never won a supercross race in either class, and there's no way around it -- that counts for a lot in the US when it's 3/5ths of the annual schedule.

The Alessis put themselves out there for scrutiny, which is fine, but it comes with a target on there backs (insert "believe the hype" jokes here). in my opinion it's foolish to measure the field over there by how a guy just getting back into shape and obviously suffering from yet another injury finishes at a pre-season race on the either side of the world, on a new motorcycle... Hell, now I'm apologizing for the Alessis!

I was hoping to watch Mike at the Hawkstone International. I hope everything works out for the guy and props to him for coming over to race against our GP riders.

When Danielle was speaking to the camera, notice how she threw out all the same cliche' terms that Mike and Dad do when they are interviewed. Poor girl has been cyborged as well. That Tony should be a motivational speaker, good at the brainwashing he is.

Hi everyone. This is Danielle. After many years of Tony doing an amazing job, I am now taking over the Alessi Weekly.

After spending 3 weeks in Europe we have made it safely home to California. It was very nice to spend a lot of time with KTM Austria and the De Carli team in Rome. We got to see a lot of sites and see a lot of history, as well as do what we went to Europe to do, continue developing the motorcycle. Mike competed in Valence, France at the end of our trip in Europe. The point of racing Valence was to make sure the bike was where he wanted it to be after all the testing he had done with Team De Carli and Antonio Cairoli. Mike believes his bike is great and he is very happy with the progress he has made after spending time in Europe. After getting home on Monday Mike spent the being part of this week getting back into training, followed by riding at the end of the week. Now the real work begins. We have a little over three months before the MX Nationals are here. For the next few weeks Mike will be working hard on making sure everything in his program is running smooth and everyone is focused for what the summer holds.

COMP

Mike got to racein Valence, France with numerous World GP winners. Such as Antoni Cairoli, David Philippaerts, Steve Ramon, Ken de Dycker, Jonathan Barragan, Max Nagle, Tanel Leok, Josh Coppins, Marc de Reuver, and Sebastien Pourcel. Mike was in great company.

MEDLEY

Mike shoulder is about all healed up. Shoulder injuries have been taking a lot of riders we have noticed these last few months. Mike did a great job of pushing through the pain and getting his job done the last few weeks. "

Crash , just took his shirt off and is setting up a ring as we speak!Woohoo

Save the chest thumping Crash, I wasn't "dogging" out Danielle, just stating the facts. She DID say all the cliche's and she did sound the same as Mike and Tony. Just because you may happen to have a soft spot for her doesn't mean she's unfaultable.

You don't see me talking shit and getting all offensive when people criticize Broc's fiance' Jessica who happens to be a friend of mine.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Mike rode good in Valence... it is a warm up race for everyone they all are testing their bikes, Pourcel is coming back from a year off with major injuries too as is Strijbos the results don't necearily matter. he has beaten them and they have beaten him. Don't read into the results his times were competitive.

The problem is both Cairoli and Mike had never been to Valence and are both getting used to the 350 and Cairoli won and Mike didn't so America can't believe one of their top guys wasn;t challenging for the win... so he must not be at 100%.

Well none of those guys are at 100% none of them read too much into the pre -season race. It is ok for an American rider to lose just becasue he wasn't as fast... it happens, Top Americans aren't faster than top GP riders outside the USA they are just a similar level.

Mike is just as good a rider as he was and he will be up there in the AMA his speed in the US has not changed.

Mike is just the same level as those guys when he is outside America, he could win one of the first GPs so could about 10 others.

Just becasue he got a 7th doesn't mean he is slow... Americans struggle more than other countries outside their own country with the different tracks etc. The more Mike races outside his own country the better he will get on a variety of tracks. ( just like any other nationality)

The talent is very deep in the GPs and Mike just isn't any better than a Desalle, Cairoli, Ramon, Barragan, Strijbos, Nagl, Phillippaerts, De Dycker, Pourcel any of those guys could win or podium at any time - they have all won GPs titles or finished top 2 in the series, just like Alessi has in the US. he is the same - no better. That's why he could win a GP or just as easily get 6th. He is that level don't panic.

Mike could probably beat all those guys in the US on his day at say Geln Helen, but outside the US it is a different story. He doesn't have home track advantage. In the nationals too there are 6 or 7 guys that can win this year too and Mike will be one of them as well... Mike will be fine, he is very driven and has the results to shut the doubters up.

McCread, good points but this one: "Mike is just as good a rider as he was..." I think he is far from what he was right now and it will take all of the next three months and then some to get back to where he was last June. He will have missed an entire year on the circuit, just the same as Sebastien Pourcel, only Sebastien's season starts two months earlier and he needs to be ready much sooner.

I have never been a fan of MA and I think like most people it has to do with his Daddy. If Mike took off with his girl got his own place, took control and showed up at the races with a box van and a couple of great bikes, I would be a huge huge fan. He has been groomed from a baby and now has everything he needs in that body and mind of his. He just needs to take it elsewhere with his chick and start new. JMO.

Well yes Davey, i mean he hasn't lost his abilitiy to ride his bike... of course he is not at 100% and I don't think anyone thinks he is, but neither are must of the other guys I don't think anyone rides 100% at those races.

That is why the pre-season results are hard to gauge... The only thing you can say from the pre-season is Cairoli is on it and he will probably only get better for the GPs... it's just a question of how mch the rest can close the gap by then.

Mike is riding good they all are riding decent in getting themselves and the bikes ready for their main championships. Americans don't need to panic with his results... he was never going to wipe the floor with everyone...he is doing fine on new tracks new bikes and good competition. Cairoli is just making it look worse than it really is.

You cannot compare a Des nations to an individual GP series or international race. Totally different.

The field isn't as deep at a Nations race for starters.

Lots of guys have won a Nations title but never a GP title and lots of guys have won GP titles but not Des Nations. You can win a Des Nations without winning a race or being the fastest it's all about the combined team scores, The US guys were all fast last year but not the fastest individually- but they won.

Mike is still fast but he doesn't have the team dynamic to help him like the US have at the nations so it looks worse. At the nations you just look at the overall results which says US first but Individually maybe only one guy will win a moto and the rest will lose.

Mike could get 7th in a nations race and win the trophy... but if he gets 7th in an individual race he just gets 7th.

The news letter was so much easier to read with Danielle writing it. Still some grammar mistakes, but much better.

Glad to hear Mikey is back in the USA and getting ready.

McCread, I usually let your Grand Prixoganda go by as the wishful thinking of a hardcore fan, but I don't think what you're saying here is fair to Mike Alessi or anyone else who tries an unorthodox approach to his preparations.

The guy is using the European invitationals and maybe a couple of GP races to get back into shape after smashing his knee twice last summer, then his shoulder, and racing a new bike that has to be production-based in the U.S.... I just can't see how you can compare what he's doing for his personal comeback trail to measure the depth of quality of the field in Europe.

No one kicked Gautier Paulin to the curb when he came over in January for the exact same reason. And it won't be fair to Ben Townley when he doesn't win (or if he does, because he's racing with a bigger goal in mind and has no pressure... )

Just let the guys race and leave the boasting to races that count for these guys, like the nationals or the Motocross des Nations... Or the GPs for Gautier. When the guy does well, like Clement DeSalle, that's great. When he doesn't, he just doesn't.

I said that toungue in cheek....in response to 500guys post on motonews...

I have never commented on Mikes results pre-season is different to the GPs a lot of guys aren't riding at 100% yet... except that I think he is riding better than people think he is... his times in France where similar to the other guys and he got decent starts.

I fully expect Mike to be challenging for wins and overall podiums at the first GPs he is just as good as Cairoli, Phillippaerts, Desalle, Nagl, Ramon etc At that level they all ride a bike at a similar pace. In the GPs there are 8-10 guys that could win a moto Mike is one of those guys for sure.

Actually I like Mike, and I think he gets a lot of unfair critiscm on here, he has been in the top 2 of the US outdoors his whole career and doesn't get a lot of respect for that..He is one of the most dedicated people out there and I think he deserves an outdoor title - AMA or GP.

Cairoli has obviously adapted to the bike and conditions better so far but in the US Mike should be fine, he will be a contender again.... but so will Grant, Reed, BT, RV and of course man of the moment Dungey..
Then just say we have as much depth here. 8-10 guys that can win. and that the GP's aren't deeper or any faster.

1. RV

2. Dungey

3. Reed

4. Alessi
