I'm glad that Barcia kept his cool and didn't retaliate. I'm also glad that AMA didn't suspend Barcia just because he was involved.

However, I understand how Davalos feels. Last night, some dude wouldn't let me get in front of him while I was trying to leave my parking space and I felt like pulling him out of the car and beating the crap out him.

I also like how it mentioned how reed was "constantly" grabbing Stewart. Since when is once constantly?

This sport is getting to tabloid like. You have Erin trying to interview riders why emotions are high and asking negative questions trying to get a rise out of the riders. You have Matthes running around writing about personal matters and printing things the he doesn't know to be fact.

It's really not a good direction for the sport to be going.

Why the hell did Matthes just got tossed under the bus? I'm pretty sure he knows more "fact" then your ass does. I mean, being in the industry and working for factory riders for years would qualify him a hell of a lot more then your 8000+ post on a message board that is full of half truths and shit we all aren't sure is fact.

Would they say that? Doubt it.
Actually they refer to Chad as "The Australian Rider" all the time.

Looks to me like Davalos should have gotten a 15 yard penalty, enforced at the starting gate.

I totally agree with you. I was like wtf are they trying to say there? Do they talk about James Stewart by saying "black rider James Stewart got on his bike"?

Davalos should have not lost his cool and not put hands on JB17 for sure. But it was not just a little "Barcia messed up with his hot lap", there was 2 incidents in 2 successive corners.
Barcia didn't need to do that in practice.
Davalos should have controlled himself and surely not lost his temper.

Jim, you have been pretty strongly on a mission with Matthes in the past coupke months, could you show me where Matthes has said/talked about personal things that have nothing to do with racing THAT HAD NOT ALREADY BEEN REPORTED IN MXA OR TWMX OR RX?

what "a-la-TMZ" gossips can you show he wrote or podcasted that was not already published?

MXA knew exactly what they where doing. The “Foreign rider Martin Davalos” was meant to sensationalize the situation. You know, USA against the world type stuff.

The DQ was way to harsh. He grabbed his helmet BFD.

The hands off rule is great and so is the penalty for putting you hands on another rider! Bet Davalos won't ever do it again, and make other hot heads think twice now!Wink

i watched the incident from the time both riders went into the turn after the quad. the reason it caught my attention is because barcia seemed to be cruising until davalos got beside him then he kinda blocked him in the corner... then after the table section barcia intentionally blocked davalos. this is when davalos slowed down and rode beside barcia until they got in front of the mechanics area. then davalos pushed barcia with his left hand. davalos rode around to the finish and stopped. barcia rode up to davalos and davalos grabbed his helmet.

i thought davalos should have got his hand slapped. maybe last gate pic. but dq'd from the event. way overboard.

i like watching barcia ride but the kid does hit anything and everything on the track.

maybe the AMA should get a little input from NASCAR about making racers act like choir boys. Nascar tried it and people stopped watching so they changed their mind and decided to let boys be boys.

one other thing that seems odd is in our sport it is ok to jump a motorcycle on top of someone (stewart/partridge and nicoletti/morais) but it is not ok to touch someone after practice.

Give the riders a clean lap like in Road Racing V8s or the Aussie SX series, cause so far, it just seems to be a shitstarter... Either the riders are upset at other riders, or the teams upset at the track being changed...

Can it...

In all seriousness, i'm not surprised at the situation though...

Barcia hasn't exactly been making friends out there... Bottom line, he'll take you all the way to the bales given half a chance... And in qualifying, that's just fuckin stoooopid... Especially since they are friends...

Someone will put him in his place pretty soon i'd imagine...

Davalos comes from Equador and Barcia from New York.
Both are foreign in Georgia. Deport them both.

Yeah, it should be a 2-score format. 1 is the final, then another for the octogon. The every-one at once timed practice is not good. Just line them up based on points going in.

I did not see the on track antics but (from the industry seating behind the starting gate) watched the helmet tug and words being exchanged. Did not seem to be bad enough for a DQ from my seat.

I noticed a lot of the riders in a timed practice who just kept cruzed around the track instead of pulling off the track.

IMO there needs to be a box where riders must stop when not attempting t bust out a hot lap.

Agreed. The DQ is a good rule. (and i like Davalos)

I think most of us would want to fight if someone put their hands on us.

I dont think the AMA wants to deal with riders fighting.
