Don’t post much anymore these days but this build has been too much fun to not share. Started with this roached 84 CR80 that was missing the topend and pipe and an XR100 engine. I’m a metal fabricator and have a fully outfitted shop at my disposal which made any of this possible. All work has been done myself.

First things first, the engine cradle obviously had to be cut out and a new one fabricated as well as the cross brace between the backbone and down tube to make room for the taller XR cylinder and head.
Shock reservoir mounts, coil mounting points and engine mounts also needed to be relocated. Fabbed up an HRC style case guard and glide plate as well.

Fresh coat of Flash Red powder coat to cap it off
Made up some aluminum front motor mounts and milled up a serrated brake pedal tip as well

Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Powder coated swingarm, linkage, fork lowers, triple clamps, pegs, case covers, valve cover, etc…..
Looking forward to this one. Best of luck to you, Sir.
No 80’s Honda is complete without gold rims. Low gloss black powder coat on the hubs and brake panels as well.
Since the carb is on the opposite side on the XR and much higher I fabbed up this intake/air filter cage setup that fits in place of the original CR air boot.

Icing on this mini cake…. The stock CR tank wouldn’t sit low enough on the frame to fit right since the XR cylinder and head are so tall. My solution was to chop away at the stock tank until it cleared the topend then replicate it from aluminum. Here she is…

Making a simple bracket to attach the CR shroud to woulda been lame so fabbed up this air louvre the same dimensions as the CR radiator. It aligns perfectly with the cylinder and head. Also powder coated this low gloss black.

LOTS of wet sanding and polishing on the original OEM plastic later I’m finally happy. Some custom swingarm decals and period correct Answer Products decals along with an original DeBruzer bar pad.

Modified the routing of an FMF XR100 exhaust to fit the hybrid build.
Impressive work.
Thank you!
So it’s pretty much done other than some little stuff like chain, backgrounds, mud flap and a right hand side panel. All are on the way though. Here are some detail pics out in sun.
Pit Row
MSR AOF levers for both clutch and brake (just run one upside down for the brake) disassembled and powder coated low gloss black.

Oh my. Beautiful craftsmanship and bike. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Is this a display bike, or is it going to be used in a Drum Brake Mini 4t class of sorts?
There's a Lot of beautiful work you've done there.
But, if it's going to being ridden hard, it would have been wise to valence a tube gusset from down the CR frames downtube, onto the tiny XR ( I assume it's the std, or size of the original XR piece) downtube, right down to the cradle loop. Decades ago, when I'd do Monoshock XR conversions, I'd do such a thing (well, All the way from the head tube down the tiny little downtubes) . So many XR downtubes just went 'pop' when really abused. And, when you have such a heavier, sturdier tube going to a much smaller tube junction, well, the forces really concentrate at that point.
I really like the radiator louvre mount, though, having an oil cooler in it, would be a great thing if the bike is going to be hammered.
But, to repeat, there's a Lot of beautiful work you've done there
Oh, here's an interesting thread on ADVrider, of a fellows XR100 Framer build - well, and a SuperMoto / DTX build.

A neat thing, though that bloody drooping / curved brake lever stands out like Macadoo's what's it's. Can't understand why the builder made it that way - I thought he might intend to do a short, cross over underneath Megaphone exhaust system, that might need such a thing, but, no, no indication of it.
Very cool !
