From what I know, Mr. Dungey has a stellar reputation as a rider's Dad, and lots of other fathers could take lessons from him. If he did go over to talk to J-Law, I'm sure he had benevolent intentions and was acting as a peacemaker. JMHO.
Legitimate point.
Everyone here seems to be assuming that Mr. Dungey was going to rip JLaw's arm off and then beat him with it, but it's entirely possible that his intentions were to appeal to JLaw's better side.

went into Jlaw's semi looking to have words with him according to Matthes.

"I know that Ryan’s dad went into Jason’s semi after practice looking to have a few words (if you’ve ever seen Ryan’s dad, even his “words” with you would probably scare the beejeezus out of anyone) so the Dungey camp obviously felt strongly that there was a problem."

I am not a fan of either of these guys, but Dungey need to grow a sack. Sending your daddy over. HA!
Something that people never seem to get is that these riders are not the clock punchers that some of you want to make them out to be.

I agree, these are professional athletes, parents should have nothing to do with playing enforcer. Motocross might be the only sport in which parents have a constant influence during their kids professional career. Maybe its because kids go pro at such a young age, but I think there needs to be a bit of a separation with there parents and to let the team do there job.
sometimes in this sport...no all the time, emotions run high. i assume as a parent watching yer kid race at this level and just one crash away from possible death and dismemberment, a parent might just be a little on edge...but most of you fucks are too stupid to understand that. this incident was the exception, not the rule with the Dungeys. "jlaw"'s actually lucky michelle didn't bring down the thunder on his little "ex con" ass

Anyone that faults Troy Dungey for going to JLaws pits is obviously not a father. I guarantee you that most parants on this board would have done the same thing. Some may have used words, some may have used their fist, but the bottom line is family comes first. If someone is jacking around with my family, I'm gonna address it and it doesn't matter if it's a professional SX race, at school, at a daycare or at a public gathering.
Some people tend to forget two important points. First the Dungey's have proven themselves over the years to be quality people. Second, JLaw has proven himself over the years to be a troublemaker. Could the situation have been handled better? Well, in hindsight couldn't most altercations/disagreements always be handled better?
Anyone that feels that JLaw is not the root of the problem should probably discuss it with their probation officer or court mandated counsler.

So this means they're not adults, capable of handling a situation involving them?
The issue at hand is between Jason and Ryan.

Like I said, I agree with your logic when it comes to father and son, and keeping the rider focused, and handling things so they're not distracted...blah blah blah.
At the end of the day this has gone on for years, and clock punchers or not, Jason and Ryan have to hash it out, or don't. No need for the Dad, unless Jason got in his head too, which seems to be the case.

RC self control?

The same RC who told Matthes he was going to get his gun and shoot both he and Red Dog?

Yup, epitome of self restraint there.

Ryan's parents (especially his dad) are not in anyways like tony (for the person that brought that up). The family is very supportive of ryan but keeps outta the way. The dad is very calm (but yes if he was coming at me id be scared to death). The entire family are great down to earth people, if Troy went over as they said im sure he had very good reason and (just to talk) he wouldn't cause anything.

of course this IMHO

Right on! And any comparisons to the Alessi or Stewart camps are rediculous. It's not like Mr. Dungey is bullying competitors mechanics or making a general nuisance of himself. He should be given the benefit of the doubt for now. But next week if he beats up someone that gives Ryan a dirty look or if he sets fire to the Yamaha pits, then we can all jump in on him. But for now, he is a good guy in my book. RD5 FTW!

Go back and read BobbyM's last post. He nailed it. Dungey's dad does not have a history of interfering. Emotions run high every time you see your son riding on a SX track. At any one second there is the possibilty of an accident causing paralysis or death. If you don't have a son that rides a supercross track then you might not completely understand it. But I bet at your job you don't have that threat. And if you do and your dad was there watching no matter what your age, I bet he would react to someone interfering with you while you were doing your job.

You're either being facetious, or haven't been paying attention the past few years. Outdoor Nat a couple years ago. It was embarrassing. I'm sure someone with a better memory than me will chime in. Or maybe BobbyM has the vid. It's off-topic, but since you asked....lol.

I dont hink Dungey is the slightest bit afraid of Jay. Jay is a little bitch when it comes to this situation ryan is over yet Jay wants to continue on. Dungey has a lot to lose, millions of dollars and Jay, pretty much has lost it all already. Jay used to be a funny kid, now he is just a grown idiot.

Dungey to stoop to Jays level would be stupid.

That's quite a stretch to say he has no self control. He should have beat Bubbles down numerous times for trying to kill him in a race by riding out of control, but he picked his bike and self up and moved on.

Sorry if I'm coming in late on this from the other side of the Pond, but I was working last weekend and have been on the road ever since. I've seen the amateur vid on youtube, and, like others, wondered if there was a prequel. According to the Suzuki PR shot, there was.

SUZUKI PR SHOT

Team Manager Roger DeCoster was philosophical at the end of the evening: "The night started off really bad in the qualifiers. Lawrence was out there playing his games and Ryan retaliated on the last lap, and on the very last corner the officials were right there and instead of penalising just Lawrence, they penalised both of them. Had Dungey not retaliated, only Lawrence would have been penalised. But Dungey maybe lost his cool a little bit, and so the officials put both of them last pick on the gate for their heats.

“It was a big loss for Dungey as he was one of the fastest guys on the track. But he did a good job and came out second or third in the first turn and got second in the heat. Then in the Main, he got second again. Considering everything that happened, he was tough, hung in there, and is still in the hunt for the championship. Next week we should be even stronger," added DeCoster.

QUOTE ENDS

Roger has a corner to defend, but both he and the AMA clearly saw how it started, also how it finished. Yeah, Dungey was dumb, but if you're in his position and some dickhead loser like J-Law starts playing stupid games, what would YOU want to do ? A damned sight more than Ryan did. I certainly would !

But am I too sceptical when I wonder if J-Law was put up to it ?

Yes, there is a history of personal animosity towards Dungey from J-Law and his buddies, but what bike does JL ride ?

Is it coincidence that Chisholm was sent out to screw Reed's head last year ?

And there is a history going back all the way to "Let Broc Bye". But they don't even wait for the last race anymore, and there's suddenly an awful lot of 450 finalists getting given blue bikes to finish 11-20 !

The only real proof we have (the video) shows that J-Law does everything he can to avoid games.

This is what Matthes said at Transworld: "But that turn I saw Jason stop in did jack up quite a few guys so I’m not sure you can say Lawrence did that on purpose."

Everyone has different point of views.

Lucky for JLAW Mama Bear didn't go over there and tear him a new one . Smile

I like JLAW & I like Dungey,I really hope they put this feud to rest one of these days.
Perhaps maybe that is what Ryan's Dad was trying to do.

Your post is ironic crash.... Jason is acting very UNmanly lately.

All this stuff would be funnier if the dude showed up and finished the races... ALL of them.

But, he can't even get that done, so really, he needs to STFU... imo of course.
