How old are you? Grown men using social media followers as a yardstick for anything is so lame….. all that aside jett v Db v Chase battles should be the goods for years to come. Let’s hope Forkner can string a few seasons together and get in the mix too.

Why aren't all the Jett haters - who claim they mostly hate him because the media is 'shoving him down our throats' - complaining? Oh, that's because they can do nothing but try - badly - to rationalise their bias against Jett.

Yep, I realise that. The point is that the Jett haters, who are invariably Deegan gurglers, claim they dislike Jett because of the media oversatuation.  But they're nowhere to be seen when it happens to their boy-crush Deegan.

In terms of Deegan, the coverage of him was ridiculous - half of the heat race focused on him.  However, I understand that TV is going to go where they think they need to in order to keep eyeballs on the screen.  The Jett-haters don't seem to understand the media has its own imperatives. One final point, while I understand what the media is doing, at least with Jett he's earned his attention. Two regional supercross races in a row, two outdoor 250 championships in a row, one 450 outdoor championship undefeated.

Did you just list all of Jett’s accomplishments? Like nobody knows how great a rider he is, and how many championships he has won and will win in the future. This isn’t Jets agent burner account is it?

I like the Deegan cover up failure of Haiden saying he didn’t ride for a week and then them reporting during the broadcast of Brian saying he was off the bike for 3-4 weeks and it was pretty bad

A few years older than Jett lol

Social media followings is one of the only yard sticks we have for rider popularity as it’s a niche sport and our guys don’t do anything mainstream anymore. We don’t have much else to go off

Jett is not a star. They are trying to create one. As easily shown by his lack lustre social media presence for the amount of push he’s gotten.

Deegan is already a star, that’s the difference.

I get you are a Jett fan, that’s fine. But he’s not a star. Go to the track and listen to the crowds. Look at his online presence. Don’t just listen to what the broadcast tells and shows you. You’ll realize he isn’t THAT popular amongst the fans. And outside of the sport? Zero notoriety. He’s not a star.

Star power and talent is 2 different things.

But outside of social media presence, in terms of popularity what makes Jett a star? Nobody outside of core Mx/SX knows him, he doesn’t even have the largest fanbase within the sport. Did I miss his Wheaties box or interview on Kimmel? Lol

My 11yo son and his mates think Follower numbers make you a star too, everyone else I know, not so much 😂

I'm betting that easily half of those being counted are paid for straw followers.

Well you still haven’t told me other metrics to use. MX is a niche sport. We don’t have many metrics to go off.

Inside stadiums is just MX/SX fans and he doesn’t get near the most cheers, but the most boo’s.

He doesn’t have any notoriety outside of MX/SX

He doesn’t have a large social media presence

He doesn’t have any big time personal corporate deals/endorsements outside of Redbull. (And no deals other riders don’t also have).

What metrics are you using?

I’m aware. That’s why I’m using social media statistics. Because we have no others that work as he isn’t a star 😂

So again, please show me other metrics outside of social media presence that work.

Why do we even need a metric for this? Other than agents and promoters, who actually cares?

“He” is the rider we are talking about. Jett. You have so little comprehension you can’t figure that one out? Booooooooomer

But anyway, you can’t say the only metric I use (social media presence) doesn’t work if you can’t name not even 1 other.

So again, Jett is a generational talent. But he isn’t a star in terms of popularity. Not even within this sport, nevermind outside the sport. Deegan is a star both within and outside of the sport. He came with a following, Jett did not. End of story. Deegan can add eyes from outside the sport to the sport (from his existing fanbase), whereas Jett doesn’t have that fanbase to do the same with. He doesn’t do anything outside race and exist within the mx/SX community.

Sorry didn’t realise we were talking about a single rider,

Being the stupid old bastard you think I am, I mistakenly thought we were talking about using social media metrics to determine whether someone is a ‘star’ or not? Which imo is a ridiculous construct and a totally unnecessary concept unless you’re into advertising.

My apologies 😂

Ok well I’ll give u a pass if your only 23 - u don’t know any different, never lived without social media, I’m not much older in case ur wondering. Jett is a star in the mx world because of how insanely good he is on a dirt bike….. 22-0 in a rookie season has never been done by any previous stars of the sport, he dominated tonight and barely broke a sweat. Im not a huge fan but I don’t let that cloud my judgement of what he is accomplishing as a 20 year old it’s quite remarkable. Deegan is a bad Mf on a dirt bike too but he wouldn’t scratch the top 10 in the big boys class (yet). Results are all I base my “star” power off. Couldn’t give a flying fukc about anything else.

Yea dude my point is he’s not a star popularity wise outside of the MX/SX community lol

Nothing I have said is even considering rider capability. Just popularity.

So now popularity doesn’t matter cause ya can’t think of another metric to use while discounting mine lol

Anyway I’m not that committed to this topic. I started this while trolling in my hotel bed 🤣 have a good night we’ll agree to disagree.

Deegan makes it look like he’s the champ of the entire 2023 year instead of just the SMX series.

No doubt! Has Deegan ever won a Supercross race other than an SMX?

Deegan might as well retire.

He is already a bigger star then the goat and the king, stew, tomac, rc and dunge.

What's the point of even racing.

Ohh don't forget about those real starts. Those onlyfans hoes with more followers then deegs.

No doubt! Has Deegan ever won a Supercross race other than an SMX?

I know, pretty douchey.  He knows full well that pro sx/mx is not the same thing as SMX.  He'll probably try to argue, or his fans will, that he means he's a pro sx/mx athlete and also that he won SMX in 2023.

Deegan was born to a millionaire ex-professional racer with his own private track to practice on. Maybe Deegan is referring to other pro riders when he's talking about the struggles that some riders go through.
