Didn't want to get passed by the guy behind him, I guess.
all he had to do is get out of the racing line for a turn, wtf man?
On the flip side, look at how many races get tightened up at the end by the lappers. RD would have never gotten close to RV unless for RV getting into lappers. There have been many races over history that were exciting to watch because lappers tightened up the race at the end. So maybe be careful what you wish for, there could be goods and bads. I think the announcers went pretty overboard about grilling Chisholm.
Pit Row
Race official: Kyle this isn't the first time you've ignored the blue flag and gotten in the way.
Kyle: Hey dude I'm racing for race position and the season overall...
Race Official: Well now you'll be sitting out next week. So now you won't be racing for for either. Congratulations.
Kyle: But...
Race official: But nothing. You're not racing fast enough to be a factor on the podium and other than your Mom, no one is here to see you race. Do it again and you'll be watching from the sidelines for a year.
END OF PROBLEM.
Section 4.15
b. Warning Flags
2. Solid Blue Flag:
- Indicates you are about to be overtaken by faster riders.
- When conditions allow, move out of the fast line.
- Hold your line (don't ride erratically) and do not impede the faster riders progress.
- Riders disregarding this flag may be black-flagged at the discretion of the race director.
So if FIM referee John Gallagher adhered to the letter of the law, as the rule is written, he should black flag every rider who receives, then disregards, a blue flag when there is a rider coming up behind him that beat him the week before or qualified faster than him that night.
Clearly, as the rule is written it is too vague to enforce. It doesn't even specify that the rider he slows down for has to be lapping him.
Chisholm was racing for position against a bunch of guys. He has been hauling ass lately and his results have improved every week. He's knocking on the door of the top-ten after missing round one. As Renner pointed out, it's pretty easy to get passed by the guys you've been dicing with for the past 15 minutes if you back off too much because you got the blue flag.
Believe me, the guys (Dungey, Villopoto) who are lapping guys like Chisholm 18 laps into a race are obviously fast enough to pass him without him having to jeopardize his own position. Dungey knows this and I doubt he has any ill will towards Kyle.
Classic.
She nailed it.
