I was checking out the Racer X Senior Series for 2010 and it looks that Millville has given the race up and Sunset Ridge at Walnut IL has taken the race over.
Is this correct or am I full of it?

The people that i have talked to that have been there say it is a very nice track.

Anyone know how the age limits works? Do you have to be a certain age at the first of the year or the correct age before the race date?

I haven't never had the chance to go before. But the race at Walnut shows to be July 17th and I turn 60 on the 14th and get to retire on the 15th. What a way to celebrite.

I would like to ride the 55 and 60 class.

Hey Oldguy......in the early 90's I worked with a mechanic at Midwest Perf & Power named Mike that lived in Pamyra and raced. Do you know him?

Old Guy, I have attended the entire series for the last 4 years and love it. It is an excellent series. Could you let me know where you saw the 2010 schedule? The series website www.mxvets.com does not show a new schedule yet. I would be disappointed if Millville was taken off the schedule, I feel it is the best track it goes to followed closely by Red Bud.
I am pretty sure if you turn 60 some time before the final round in 2010, you are allowed to run the plus 60 class. Don Hachmeister (organizer) would know for sure.
Hope to see you there, the plus 55 class is usually quite large!.. you will have a ball!

Walnut AKA Sunset ridge is a very very nice track. The whole place is top notch and I have always compared it to a little Red Bud. It don't surprise me with Millville not being on the schedule in all honestly. They were making there own classes during the Vet Race and I guess it was pissing people off since it was TECHNICALLY the Vet series. He added a 14-24 class A B C and some others. Who knows. But Walnut will be a good place for Walnuts replacement indeed. www.sunsetridgemx.com

Sunset Ridge is an excellent track and Bob Pistole out there works hard and does an incredible job. However it's too bad that Millville is off the schedule, the 2 years I rode the Vet race there (05 and 06) it was epic. Practice Friday and race Saturday, close to full gates in every class, you can't beat the atmosphere of the track from the sand whoops to riding across the bridge to get to the starting gate. Always cool to ride a National track. Too bad they couldn't keep Millville and added Sunset Ridge or had it take Byron or Atzalans place in the series.

The guys that started the Series One is Aaron Vincerts step dad. Aaron runs Byron he took it over from his dad about 1989. So Byron will never be off the schedule. Im still tring to figure out how Aztalan is still on the schedule. That place has always seamed like it was on the low side of being neat and tidy. Don't know maybe its just me.

Hey MXR102 did you ever come down and race at Midwest Motosports park in Kahoka,
Best dirt ever, 15 years of saw dust and black dirt. After a day of the Missouri state series with around 500 riders, it turns into a extreme rough track. holes deep enough to hide a hole bike, not a smooth spot on the track. Never no dust and would take a lots of water on a rain filled day. It would weed out the fast from the slow.
After a 4 stroke national Rusty Holland said that was the roughest dam track he had ever been on.

Hey, have you found out anymore about the racer x vet series? We've done this the past few years, byron, springcreek, red bud and aztalan. Looks like red bud and aztalan have something in august and september but not sure if it's part of a series.

Hey Old Guy whats your name? Yes I have raced at Kahoka it was my favorite track of all time. I won many A class Races there and even about swept the weekend but 1 Moto during the Mo State Race. Ran over a tire and bent a shifter. Thats when Mike used to throw in the $500 Bonus to any A rider that could sweep all 4 moto's. Missed it by one moto and I still got 2nd in that one. Oh Kahoka was Gods Country. Best track in the world. That same year that Rusty Holland was there didn't Craig Decker win it that year? Also this is Todd Walton.

Racer X Vet National Schedule is as follows. Its up on MXVETS.com Races are on Saturday and from the past they have Open Practice on Friday before the race.

Walnut, Illinois July 24
Red Bud is August 21
Aztalan Wisconsin September 11
Byron, Ill October 2

Old guy you should be able to ride that class since your birthday is b4 the last race of the year. I'll be there at some of them in the +25 and 30A. Come hit me up if you end up going.

mxr102 Ray Murray here, Jasons dad. Had to move to Missouri to follow my job. I never gave it a thought that mxr102 was you. The track at Kahoka is now a big pond. Got a few tracks down this way but nothing compared to Iowa and Illinois tracks up north. Still racing Cedar Rapids? If all goes well I will be at Walnut.

That makes me sad. Many years of good times down there at Big Mike's place.

We actually added Walnut before we knew Millvile was not able to participate in the Racer X Vet series this year. We were not replacing Millville. LL qualifiers and some other obligations just did not let them be able to participate this year. We hope to have them back next year. If you enjoyed racing there in the past let them know you want them back on the schedule for 2011. I believe your class eligibility is determined by your age as of the day of each race. If your 55 the day of the race then you can race that class.

What's the difference? A thread is a thread. I plan on attending my first senior series race at Aztalan in September.
