So now, not only can they not defend Trump on his own merits, but they refuse to say anything bad about him either. The truth of the matter is, the only way Trump supporters would stop supporting Trump, is to break bread with those who are in contrast to the very fantasy that Trump has given them the confidence to believe as their reality; much akin to how most KKK folks only realize the faults of their ways when they put in the effort to spend time with Jews and Black people. Of all the cases Trump faces the first E Jean Carrol trial was the one I felt least comfortable about.
I can be cynical and not always sympathetic to retrospective accusations of sexual assault. But Trump has admitted sexual assaulting others and a 9 man jury found Trump liable for sexual assaulting her. They decided, based on evidence and witnesses testimony, that it happened. The $5m in damages she was initially awarded (less than the $10m she’d asked for) would have felt like short change to Trump - and no doubt easily recouped after a few fundraising emails.
Trump appealed and he lost. That could and should have been that.
But he did what he always does and behaved like a vindictive jerk, defaming Carrol over, and over, and over, and over... including throughout the defamation trial itself.
An experienced lawyer would have simply told him to shut the hell up months ago. But Donald Trump is a sociopath and Alina Habba is way out of her depth.
As per usual they deployed the go-to MAGA ‘defence’ and political tactic; behave like petulant, entitled morons and then feign outrage when they’re punished for it.
