Hey, TJ 755, thanks for the assist...I did a little modding in Andrew's last message. Smile

Actually, I think I gave Andrew bad info on how to grab the url for the photo...I think I said Copy Link Location, when I should have said Copy Image Location. (See the pic below.)

Technology is killing me. Wink

The CTi's are the only knee braces I've ever used. They have extended my years of riding as I have 2 ACL issues, and couldn't ride without them. Are others better or worse I can't say but I've been more than happy with my CTi's.

My Asterix are horrible when it comes to knee cap protection. Maybe newer models have been altered but the cap on mine is way to small plus the foam is about 3 mm?

I have been thinking to rebuild mine for a year now, but I haven't found the time yet...

I just switched to Asterisk. The knee cup on the Asterisks are a lot more durable and they cover above and beneath the knee cap too. I've had the top of my knee hit the bars too many times wearing the CTI's.
Same prob here......I use ARC levers so my hot start is on the bottom side of my bars...wacks me right above the CTI knee pad everytime....my next brace is going to be Asterisk...the CTI 2 fits well....but for what i payed for them they should ride a moto for me.

I have the cti's and the strap pinches my thigh,Started wearing biker skin pants and it stopped,But now they are sliding down and the knee cup is awkward feeling like my kneecap is being pushed down, Anyone have this problem? Feel like i need a pair of suspenders now!

I have one of each - full custom CTi on my right and asterisk on my left. I tried to con health insurance to give me 2, but my left knee was 100%. Funnily, all I had to pay for on the CTi was the patella cup!!

No comparison. the CTi is eleventy billion times more comfortable than the off the shelf asterisk. If you have cover, get the CTi.

Stumpjumper: my CTi came with sleeves to wear under the brace. Works great - plus you don't have to wear those terrible biker skin pants.

i have all 3 gens of the asterisk and i have to say i like my gen1 knee cap best . it moves a little more free, then gen2 and gen3 cap feels a bit bulky to me,

the CTI braces look good i just dont have the coin to throw out for a set

way cool to c short on the PC throwing out his advice !

Yep you have to strap them on just right and the CTI leg liner is the way to go.

I actually prefer the older cotton one, not sure if they still make it.

And yes very cool of Shorty to help out.

I have a year-old set of custom -made Cti2 and I slap a piece of duct tape on the anterior tendon, just above the knee, to keep it from pinching the skin. I think it has to do with strap tension, but after 17 years I haven't figured it out, thus the tape.
I have run the wetsuit sleeves and the cotton style, too, and it doesn't seem to matter. In fact on my old wetsuit ones, I would wear a hole in the liner at that spot.

I am taking the knee caps off my old ones and mounting them like Shorty showed on my new pair.

Ossur has finally come out with a full protection knee cup (patella cup).

Go onto their website and click in the "accessories" tab, you will see it there.
Ossure CTi

I just called and ordered. Its $40 ea. With shipping to so cal it was 86 total. They said I'll get it tomorrow.

Of course like many of you, I finally decided I need something only after I have a swollen upper knee!! doh!!

In a google search, I found a company called Hi Tech bracing.com saying they are gonna start selling them this year (2014). Except those guys are asking 125 +15 shipping. And they look identical.

They have been out for a while now, got mine for 50 for both from the ortho doctor that got me my braces originally.

Might be a cheaper route to try before spending that much.

They have a brand new knee cup you can purchase from Ossur the company that makes CTi and it covers the top of the knee when bent so that you don't hit it on the bars, it works great.
