I've come to own a mid eighties DMC KX100 that is fully restored by Dave Miller himself. I'd like to sell it but since I don't spend much time in vintage circles I'm unsure if where to start.

Talking with Dave today he says it was the original concept bike and is fully ready to run/race. I believe he said it was Brian Swinks bike. Previous owner paid him well over $15K to put it together with all new pieces. It is hand built with his bitchin aluminum tank and many other one off parts.

sorry for the muddy tires. It was about 25 degrees yesterday so I couldn't rinse the mud from the tires. It hasn't been ridden, doesn't even have any fluids. Mud came from the day I rolled it out of his garage across the property which had been thrashed from the auction goers.

I wouldn't be surprised if that bike fetched $8K from the right buyer.

Never can get enough of the trick stuff! Neat bike, give us a complete run down of all the mods. DMC always built nicely detailed equipment.

The hand built tank and swingarm are works of art for sure. The thing was my dream bike as a kid. It's taken everyhting in me not to fill up the fluids and "test" ride it Wink
So where should I start as far as listing it?

I used the edit function on your post and grabbed a link (you just didnt have them embedded right) and added the pics in a new post.

Man that one one beautiful machine, i must of stared at those pics for a good hour. Its unfortunate that you probably never will get out of that bike what it is truly worth, unless you find the right buyer.

Awesome Bike!

You should keep it and stare at it for the rest of your life.

I wouldn't part with it.

Put it on ebay for $4k and see where it goes.

Whats sad is that as a kid I dreamed of racing one of these bikes. Now I own it and can't even stand to see mud on the tires.

I will likely sell it soon. I don't even have room to store it with all the other cars/bikes and business related crap in the garage these days.

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a pretty modded 1986 DMC KX80 back then, but this one makes my old bike look
box stock. If I was bucks up at the moment I'd buy it from you and hang that thing in my
living room, over the tv(ya, I'd ride it once). Thanks for sharing pics of this beauty.

John Kitsch did race that bike. Kitsch was also the only rider I believe to win all 3 motos of the Kawasaki Race of Champions that year too on stock KX 80's. Funny thing, I still have a bunch of those DMC Ride Control stickers and regular DMC stickers that John gave me. Bunch of Barr's Competioin B/C stickers as well.

That was Swinksters bike. What an example of a DMC factory level race bike. I think that bike was built the around the same time as the Lusk bike. I ended up getting the bike after Lusk and raced it for a while. I wish I still had it. Those bike were way ahead of their times!

I sent this link to Johnny and this was his reply.

"John Kitsch II No that was a Dave Miller project bike 1987 for me to ride Las Vegas world min GP. He sold it (Jeremy Albrecht's brother got it for Ponca 87) for like $9200-$9700.
When I test rode/raced it at Paris (Ca) in a GP race ,6th gear 1/4 mile straits passing 250's like nothing. That bike had everything that new bikes have (except upside down forks)"

yup, Albrecht's had it at ponca in 87'

My dad was a DMC dealer that year, sold a lot of his mods. that bike right there was way ahead of its time.

John Kitsch II "Piggy back shock, removable quick change clutch cover, loboy tank, hand made swingarm, used yz brake system on rear then the motor ....all kinda shizit"
