Hey everyone,
Heard lots of praise from fellow tall guys here who loved the 2023 Kawasaki 450.
What mods are you doing to help accommodate your height?
In bikes past, it was tough for me to grip the seats with my knees. I’ve seen some lower pegs, taller seats, different bars, etc.
6’4 180lb rider
You can lower pegs without any purchases as the lower peg holes are already there. You can move your handlebars to the forward position.
that’s two free things you can do that are significant in opening the triangle for taller riders.
Your height would be the important part of the post
6’4
If this isn't enough, you can always try the AC9 trick and go with a tall seat foam. Lots of options there, but you may not need it after trying the free/cheap fixes first...

I’m 6’3” and I do the following:
bars in forward hole with the back position
lower the pegs to the lower hole
get guts phantom or tall seat foam. It makes a huge difference for me with the taller seat.
I don’t run a tall seat because my center of gravity is too high the begin with. I’m not trying to raise it. Cornering is more important to me than comfort. I just don’t skip leg day at the gym so my legs are strong enough.
same here
except I changed to luxon clamps
for bars I like the fat bar 822 I think that’s the KTM bend with not a lot of sweep.
pegs in the lower position.
I always felt the Kawi clamps front holes were too far so I run the X trigs in the middle hole which is a sweet spot for me at 6’3. I have size 14’s so it might work for you but moving the pegs down also moves them forward which is the last thing I want for shifting and braking. Never felt comfortable with a tall seat in the corners, felt too far up when trying to lean or get my leg up in the right spot. The bike IMO is the best bike for tall guys and I think you can for the most part get away with a bar/clamp adjustment and the proper riding technique.
It sounds odd but the only advantage of the tall seat might have is I have a tough time on starts getting my legs/knees in the right spot and not be hovering above the seat and have no weight on the bike for traction. Trying to focus on foot placement and gripping the bike with my legs I accidentally am above the bike and the bike moves underneath me off the gate
Interesting on the pegs.
Did you get extended shifter/brake Pedal?
Wow bike looks great man!
What’s the reasoning on different clamps? (I don’t know much about them).
Did you get extended shifter and brake pedal?
Do you guys swap the throttle tube on these bikes?
thanks!
I absolutely struggle at cornering so I sold the stock 23mm xtrigs and grabbed a set of 21.5 luxons.
i need to get an extended hammerhead shifter and cut the break reservoir bolt to lower the peddle.
last ride was easily the most fun i have had in some ti e.
bike is working great
I use a PC shifter which is a little different of a shape but same length and stock brake pedal. I ride extremely on my toes so shifting isn’t usually a problem but when the pegs are down which is more forward I started to get jammed up when going up to third out of corners. I use my rear brake very rarely probably not as much as I should so it’s hard to notice
6'4" 225 - High CR bend, Bars in the front hole back position, lower pegs, used to run a tall seat but went back to stock for reasons mentioned above. I have an oversize IMS tank on my old KX and actually like it more than my stock 23' tank, more grip and doesn't look like I'm riding a KX85!
Thanks for all the feedback guys!
Is it safe to say that if you get the bars and pegs sorted that you can turn any other color Bike into a tall guy compliant bike like a Kawasaki?
