I should add...the main bikes have had way too much money spent on suspension but they're real comfortable.
How are you going to haul all those if you're living the RV life? Also, I always thought FL was inexpensive, just know you'll have a lot of retired NY folk for neighbors.
Better like humidity and the occasional hurricane.
Hot in Arizona is different than hot in the southeast.
Every place has a trade off. The less negatives, the more expensive. Just have to decide, is quality of life more important than money, you'll have to give up a little of both or a lot of one.
Personally, HI is in my future.

Lol... I'll have to make several trips I reckon.
I lived in Florida as a kid... Mulberry, Sebring. I liked it except for the skeeters and humidity...you don't breath air in FLA...you chew it.
AZ heat is no joke but a good hat or shade make it bearable.
I'm with the guys who say to look at central AZ. If I can have my way, I'll retire somewhere over there - Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Oak Creek. Maybe Prescott or Prescott Valley if my wife just needs to be in a city. Sedona if I can afford it.
Far western Colorado along I-70 might be a good option, too. I'm not sure what the weather is like in winter, but Fruita and Grand Junction don't look like they get any snow. Pretty hot in the summer, but not horrible like Phoenix.
God those areas couldn’t be more ugly, might as well live on Mars. Why not the beautiful PNW?
Lol...eye of the beholder, I reckon.
I've come to the conclusion that i could never live anywhere that is flat. Ive never been to Florida but sometimes i see these drone shots of the practice tracks and then the drone pans out to look at the horizon and there are NO peaks, nothing to gauge where you are at. Also, I've heard Iowa is nothing but endless corn fields. Theres gotta be a little diversity in the landscape.
I like public land too. Places i can go hiking around, be it the desert or the mountains. Some rivers and lakes to take a dip in on hot summer days is nice too.
I'll never be able to afford it but i wouldn't mind having a little place on the Oregon Coast. Somewhere i can go and hang out for 4-5 days, read a book, have a fire in the fireplace while a winter storm rolls in.
Wonder how Applman is enjoying Texas vs Wenatchee?
Texas is a BIG place. You can't throw a rock and not hit an RV around here. That said.....
Depending on what you can stand or want, well that could mean poverty or $$$$$$.
Let's talk about weather. I live in North Texas. It's nearly 70 degrees this week and some rain. It could snow tomorrow but not likely. It snows here a couple times a year give or take. I wear shorts nearly year round. It gets hotter more South in the state but that's relative. Warm enough to eat dinner outside on the patio.
Topography: Some are flat as a pool table some have nice hills. We don't really have a lot of rivers but more like big creeks. The float/tubing rivers get crowded in the Summer but are stocked with trout in the Winter. We have massive lakes and just about any property over 10 acres has a pond. Plentiful deer, bass, doves and turkey and wild hogs. Guns are an afterthought here. Stay away from any large city and you couldn't be more free. The "Hill Country" is just fabulous....as it has....hills and cedars and more wildlife than imagined. Deer hunting at it's finest. Unreal hog hunting. East Tx. has pine trees and yes, humidity. West Tx. is just a sandy, rocky mesquite filled desert. Big deer but miles of nothing and oil wells. Without oil-Midland and Lubbock wouldn't exist. We have a coast....not much there. IMHO.
I have a friend that lives in a manufactured home(more than a mobile home I guess). Rented. But...it has a 30x50 shop! There are many, many places like that here. Now, he is single and a bike guy....so you can imagine. There are miles and miles of country roads and old worn out/down Texas towns. Like time forgot. Probably a lot of opportunities there for what you are looking for....
Texas, never far from fishing or hunting......crappy beaches though. Wanna mx? You bet.
I will say, we bought our home 4 bed/3 bath with a pool and 30x50 shop(7 years ago) for $275k. It's worth $500k today. Land you used to buy for $2500 an acre now goes for $10k. Less so out in the real rural areas. Remember, not much happens in the country and those folks have a different lifestyle and perspective.
Stay away from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and the border and I think you will find something to your liking.
Beware: I was born in NM. It is not the same place I knew. Back then you could......well you know the rest.
The cancer that permeates Cali. is at work in NM.
Go where there is water. And freedom.
It's gonna take me months and months to get rid of a lifetime of accumulated crap. And get the house in a sellable state.
I had thought I'd be able get a cheap property through the Texas Veterans program but the prices have gotten as stupid as the rest of the market.
I have not worn pants in decades just shorts. Some years we get 3 or 4 days of winter and 80s rest of winter. Right now its hard to find a Florida plate. Season is crazy because the whole world comes to Florida but clears out at the first sign of 90 degrees. Golf courses are everywhere and packed full all season but totally empty in summer, like no one. Fishing, shopping and sunbathing are everything. Not much crime or homeless anywhere around my area or at my farm an hour away. Really like most places crime stays in the cities or certain isolated neighborhoods. Crime is prosecuted and not plead down so the crime stats are not manipulated like some other states where its clearly worse but they won't prosecute so stats are so off. Really 90 percent of Florida is safer than most places. Dont listen to the news media because they hate how great a state it is because it goes against their political beliefs and they hate that most minorities here vote red so it stays really nice here and lots of opportunity for a great life. More people move here daily than anywhere in the world for a reason and my city is top 3 best places to retire in most poles for many years. I didn't lock my front door for decades and as I said before my best friend will leave his garage open and go on vacation for weeks and never worries. Police are very aggressive and corrupt here but the place stays nice. I can be at at least 4 public tracks within an hour and dozens of private. No more riding on public areas in Florida like when I was a kid though. I have been devastated by a lot of hurricanes. The last one was a nightmare. My neighbors at my farm 1 hour away have lived there for 75 years and never have had one issue from a hurricane even though the state only takes 2+ hours to drive across.
Some people just visit the cities of Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and a couple others and think that is Florida. Those are the same cities as everywhere around the country and a money machine for corrupt government but the rest of the state is really amazing.
You can do it. Just throw/give away. Most stuff is just not worth anything or very little. And not worth paying to have it moved or stored. I've moved twice in about 20 years and threw away and purged a lot. I'm back to bursting at the seams. Think hard about spending good money after bad.
I do see a lot of Harley/biker types with RV living. See a lot of tarped bikes etc. or just in the elements. This is what you will run into.
Remember...."As is" when selling your home. With the high prices now, it might be a wash.
I'm not sure what you call cheap. You can find land at lower prices.....remembering there is a reason for such.
My Daughter sold their home(30's yo) and bought a park model RV. They have some friends with some land and moved it there. Septic, water and electric. This is a good/relatively deal for them and plan to have no kids. They now live 2 hours away vs. use to be 30 min. Which makes it virtually unable to see them. That sort of deal creates unintended consequences.
I think in your case you will meet friends and such that will get you through having a place to work on bikes etc.
Around here, a lot of folks build a shop and live in it. Very common. But you may live around trailers and shacks. There are many empty places of business, shops, barns etc. that could be rented even around here...leaving enough for an RV space life. You will find this in any small town/rural country in Tx.
We live on an acre and it takes a lot of time and expense to maintain. Basically 1/2 day. About 4 hours. Nothing special but mowing and weedwacker. If you care.
Have you looked at the Patagonia, AZ area east of Nogales?
Not far from Tuscon but it’s in the mountains and gets a lot more precipitation. Cheap, nice scenery, small quaint towns, lots of history. Nice temperate climate all year round.
Those seeing Terlingua for the first time....will think "Huh?" "This is the fabled Terlingua?".
Btw, a place that is still in the middle of nowhere......but the kitchy prices have found it.
I'm trying to explore.
Pit Row
Add Sonoita to the list of small towns in the area. My parents bought 40 acres and built a house back in the late 90's. They had horses as well as most of their neighbors. Nice area.
Since I retired in '21...I take the wife out to visit family in Cali 2 or 3 times a year (don't tell her the trips are scheduled "coincidentally" with Pala and Hangtown).
I always take backroads just to explore. I like the areas you guys have mentioned. So damn much cool out there.
