I'm normally a Honda guy but have been wanting an RM for a while. I just picked up a nice RM250 C2 and looking for info.
1. Does anyone have a copy or pdf. of the owner's and or service manual?
2. I know some guys have done the aluminum tank conversion on the C2, and I am wondering what MODS are required. Suzuki's just look better with the aluminum tank. I know a good tank is hard to come by and people are asking quite a bit of money for them these days.
Thanks,
PK
Not 100% sure, I think the tank bolts on. I agree the metal tank looks better. I think a smaller 125 plastic tank would look good too.
The 76/77/78 alloy tanks used rubber donuts on the frame that slipped into molded "cups" on the tank. Then it was secured with a rubber strap around the front frame tube that each end connected to the clips on the tank. Also a rear hold-down strap was used on the frame directly in front of the seat. No bolts at all. I use alloy tanks on all of my Zooks. My 78 Rm125 (which came with the plastic tank several months before the C2 was released) still had the pegs on the frame where the "donuts" were pushed on, so it was a super easy swap. I believe my C2 was the same ,because I used a 77 Alloy tank on it as well. Just don't remember if I had to drill holes and put my own donut "studs" in or not. Either way its a simple process. And yes, I used 125 tanks even on my 250's. Much sleeker and our Vintage races are typically 5 laps , 6 max, so that 125 tank holds plenty of fuel. If you want an alloy tank, I may one or two I'd consider cutting loose.
OldPro,
Thanks for that good information. Yes, I would be interested in an alloy tank after the first of the year. I am out of town with work up until XMAS, then on vacation up to New Years. Please keep me in mind if you decide to cut one loose.

Clarke makes a plastic copy of the alloy tank. 250 sized tho but looks good
