i just want those canadian guys...the ones that say 'eh?" and pronounce "ROY" like "waahhh" yea i'll take those guys. they could make a checkers game exciting.

im sure ralph is a nice guy, but i dont care for his announcing. does that mean i hate him? no. I met emig in atlanta after the race while he was relaxing and was cool enough to chat for a minute. nice guy, but that has no bearing on what he is capable of in the booth.

Sheehan isnt entertaining to me at all. In fact, I seriously turn the volume down sometimes because he makes me cringe. Ive never said that about any other announcer in any sport Ive ever watched. He adds NOTHING.

In the last broadcast he said:
"There is no doubt that he is without a doubt the fastest SX racer ever".

Does that mean that its doubtful?

As a R/TV major and former live broadcaster, I can say that Mr. Sheethand sucks. It is the best we have, but it does not change reality: For instance, he says EVERYthing in a rushed, panicked, high-pitched, fatboy voice, he feels compelled to say SOMEthing when NOthing is in order, does not know WHAT the he!! he is talking ABOUT, and appears to live each day out with the hope of getting a chance to verbally stroke the hairs on Bubba's cajones.
Extremely unprofessional to dote on a rider like that. Even Stewart's own groupies are probably embarassed at such a public display of fanboy worship. ---Goofy logo or not.
I, too, mute the unprofessional idget.
Our sport gets no respect...

Why make the "it's a tough job" excuse for him? That really baffles me. I/we know it's a tough job, but fans of the sport deserve better...Lots of people (most of us included) have "tough jobs" where ignorance and repeatedly ignored errors would not be accepted....Doctors, lawyers, airline pilots, motorcycle racers (he crashes EVERY weekend) come to mind....The really bad part is that he doesn't even seem to be getting any better over the years, as if he is not working at his craft...
He comes across as a rank amateur, but he is supposed to be a pro--It's fair to expect a lot from him...it would be one thing if he was a volunteer announcer on the local level, but, in theory, he is the best in the world at calling a supercross race...is there a higher level SX race on TV? It's a sad state of affairs if he is the best SX announcer in the world.
And I watch a lot of other sports--the producers/directors of Monday Night Football or a MLB or NBA team or even NASCAR would never put up with that type of crap...sure pro "play-by-play" announcers misspeak, but it is usually followed by a "check that" or "scratch that" and they more often than not correct themselves. SheHam just keep yammering away like he doesn't realize he just misspoke, which I am pretty sure he does not and that is not acceptable for me or the sport IMO We deserve better!

After watching Phoenix I am sure there has to be a pair of commentators out there who can at least string a sentence together. Sheehan says the stupidest at times when talking is not needed and Emig cannot string a sentence together half the time. Surely the size SX is in America you can get a more professional setup. Emig might be a former rider and champion, but it's a bit embarrassing when SX announcers sound like they have alzheimers.

Jason & Jim seem to do a great job announcing on the internet each weekend and rarely do they make mistakes and they are always live.
When they do make a mistake one is always quick to correct the other.
That is what the TV broadcast needs.
Someone that lives, eats and breaths the sport....

I wonder if Ralph would even follow the sport religiously,if indeed he wasn't an announcer?

what do you think they are going to tell you?

and he got a laptime wrong?

next time you're watching a race give it a go, record it and let us have a listen

Thought AMA and Speed had deal to broadcast most of speedweeks events at Daytona including SX. Doesn't AMA own sole rights to Daytona SX and Feld a majority owner of remainder of SX's w/ AMA minor partner? AMA has had sole rights to Daytona SX as long as it's been run since believe '74(maybe '75) when the first SX was held there..Believe Stackable won 500s; forgot who in 250.

Ralph has a good voice and had done many other racing events for years. Could do much worse.

Like have me give it a go on the house.... ;-)

Both Jeff and David are color commentators, not play by play

It's two different things

Like Weege and Holley
Weege is play by play, Holley is color

I do not think either Jeff or David would be effective play or want that spot
