You need to drop the oil height quite a bit with the JBI perches, then they work very well. Better than the national spring tubes IMHO
Hey guys, I’m a KYB newbie, anyone have info of this setup I got in my bike? I’m having a hard time using the last 20mm of travel, not that I have to, but I reduced some oil which helped broaden out the ramp up. After seeing this thread, I was wondering if the setup I have is causing the ramp, or maybe stiff valving. I’ve also gone down 1 spring rate on one leg to reduce some hold up.

Is the main difference between the MX and SX ones the size of the orifices and length? Still trying to understand how the length of the perch/tube effects bottoming resistance and ramp up.
Who did the suspension? Or did a previous owner have it setup?

National style spring tube. Need to start the oil height below stock recommendation say 300cc, and work your way up.
Previous owner had it set up by Enzo. He was 35+ A/Pro rider. Just wondering if these are the good ones for motocross?
I read this on the Enzo site "The PRIMARY damping controls most of the speeds that the fork works, but for the highest speeds the fork is compressed, additional damping is needed to prevent hard bottoming or even long or full stroke usage. This is where SECONDARY damping is utilized. It works independently of the PRIMARY damping, it is outside of the closed cartridge system. The SECONDARY damping systems are either a high speed restrictive “spring perch” or a “spring tube”which restricts oil as it is forced up between the cartridge body and a tube. Both systems provide different secondary damping “responsibiLities”.
"The spring tube secondary damping system is suitable for motocross usage as opposed to Supercross or high speed compression requirements. Technically, the damping force provided by a spring tube is LINEAR rather than PROGRESSIVE, so the higher speed damping that it provides tends to be less spiky or choppy as secondary damping kicks in. ENZO recommends the spring tubes for general motocross usage."

K I'm down to 250-260 already. Enzo recommended to try that. I think I just need a softer valving stack, feels much better when I'm close to wide open on comp clicks. Spring rate is pretty close at the moment, ride height and hold up feel good. Just ramping up too much mid to end of travel.
Could I go lower than 250?
