Its so much fun to ride. 1985 CR 500 bought brand new by my best friend. He raced it once then parked it. I bought it from him a couple of years ago. Everything is orginal including the grips. So should I ride it or look at it?

I'm not one to have a bike and look at it. If I were you, I'd ride the shit out of it. You still know the history no matter what you do with it. You can ride it now, and when you're done, then you can rebuild it to look at it.

My dad used to have a CR 500 from 1985 too. It was one of his last bikes though. Really brutal engine... Honda kept on detuning that beast every year since then.

Well, lets see here. No where did I say I want everyone to open their toyboxes. Also, if I was someone like Tbond, then I would definitely keep the bike to look at.

there's a small value difference between a ‘one off works bike’ and a ‘standard production model’ …… just in case you didn’t know

I have always thought of taking Joel Roberts 250 Suzuki and having it copied similar to the way they copied the Honda 250 six in England. Maybe making 5 or six bikes and spares. Wouldn't that be fun to ride a 167 lb 250 and not have to worry about destroying history? I'm sure the cost would be outta control.
