So watching some old races from the pontiac silverdome got me thinking, how come when they build the track to go up in the stands these days (the few times it happens) all they ever do it make it a big flat turn? They make it flat going up into the stands, into a flat corner, then a flat downhill straight on the way down. Looking back at the silverdome races it was always the coolest part of the track how they would put a step-up going up into the stands, then a corner, and then a step-down coming back down out of the stands. If they were able to do this in the 90’s they absolutely should be able to do it today. I think adding more elevation and variables like this between tracks would really make the series more exciting. Combining jumps with the elevation change really makes it a memorable part of the track.

Speaking of adding different obstacles I think it would be cool if they would add more unique jumps/obstacles so that way every track isnt just the same exact jumps but rearranged. Remember the year with the massive doubles over the start straight? That was unique and cool as hell. What about some step ups or step downs? You never see those in sx. They also used to have more quads that only the top guys could do, the last few years theyve been removing them when they show up. Seeing the separation it allowed Jett in smx showed why separation is so important. I know it would take extra dirt but they could also build a large dirt mound where on one side it acts like a large hill/table top and the other side use the side as a really steep corner. You see these at a lot of the practice tracks on flat ground where they want to add some elevation. Theres all different things that could be used if you really think about it, the main one Id like to see come back is the silverdome style jumps going into the stands and out.

I think the power and handling characteristics of modern 450s negate a lot of things that were included in old supercross tracks.

My only complaint about tracks is everything is measured perfectly. Hight of jumps and distance. Shouldn’t be a one size fits all tracks thing.

I'm pretty sure the standardization is done in the interest of safety and efficiency, and SX is already dangerous enough

I don’t believe the track designs should be released before the race weekend, creates an unfair advantage for factory teams, or anyone else with the means, to build and practice on the exact track.

Fun fact of the day... you know when you screenshot something on your phone, it literally lets you crop the image?

Man, I know it gets done often by the big teams or certain practice facilities, but that is one of the most convincing 'clone' practice track pics I've seen.

I'm not sure (maybe others are?) if it could change the outcome between factory guys, say if Yamaha do it and Kawi don't.

But, as you said, it is certainly another advantage the big guys have over the privateers.

Apparently that’s the A1 track at Star.

Fun fact of the day #2- I wasn’t on a phone and didn’t give a shit about the cropping 😂

Fun fact #3- you can zoom if you don’t like it …..still don’t give a shit….

It probably helps a little but all these teams have tracks built with the spec jumps, whoops, rhythms etc. It may be in a different order than the actual race track but same obstacles.

Also they release the track maps so fans can buy tickets, id hate to go to a supercross and just hope im not gonna have a shitty view.

The line up the stands doesn't add that much to the racing in Detroit or monster cup, it's still cool at the LA coliseum with he flat turn at the top with an inside and outside line.

We've seen bigger or different obstacles in SMX and speedway SX and it doesn't change the racing drastically for the most part. Guys and bikes are just really really good these days.

That’s a good idea CPR. Why release them? Level the playing field a bit. Shake it up. The factory teams already have a large advantage.

When I raced the Silverdome going up into the  stands and flopping your bike over at that angle to go back down was definitely not right. Pretty sure that's about all I thought about for the whole next lap.
