Couldn't even tell it was coming on. The sound kept crapping out even during the announcing, during the whole show. I thought it was OK as a performance. As far as standing up and removing the hat it was tough to even hear what was going on, due to the sound system. It was not well organized.

Dude, how about if YOU are the one banned from performing at all? So you've never had an off day? You're perfect? You've NEVER made a mistake? Holy sh*t, that should be the top news headline everywhere -- PERFECT HUMAN BEING EXISTS. Thing is, you'll have to find a way to PROVE IT. Good luck with that. Actually, what happened is that Ace Frehley's GUITAR TECH is the person who messed up with the smoke/light rig in the guitar. I will agree that Ace should have skipped the pyrotechnics and just played the National Anthem straight as is, but still, PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES. Here's a suggestion: Listen to Ace Frehley's latest CD, "Anomaly" and let's see and hear if YOU can duplicate it exactly. Then after that, let's put a stack of Marshall amps behind you, a Gibson Les Paul guitar in your hands, put YOU in front of a live and televised audience and let's see if you can do any better. Bet you'd faint from the stress of it all and fall on your face. Don't even bother to say in this forum that you're a seasoned, professional guitarist with a current album on store shelves right now, because your initial comment will prove you to be a boldfaced LIAR. Once again, if you're so perfect, you'll need to prove it, otherwise your credibility is out the window. Also, didn't anyone notice that it was DARK out there, as in NIGHTTIME WITH BAD LIGHTING??? Ace didn't ask for that -- he had to just play the venue as is.

Shoulda got stoney. This is the first song that most people learn on guitar lol, or smoke on the water, and he still butchered it horribly.

How bout you put a prs custom 22 in my hands and sign me up. And lighting has nothing to do with it, especially on a song so simple. He should be used to playin in dark stadiums anyway right?

That was disgusting. I play bass in a hack band, and I could do way better than that on guitar. He missed so many notes, then slid up/down trying to find the right key it was just pathetic. He played one whole section out of key. I don't know if he was toasted or not, but i would have a lot more respect for our national anthem than to do what he did.

FWIW, I am an old guy that grew up with kiss. They were my first "favorite" band back in the 70's. That was just the worst display I have ever heard. I could spend 10 minutes on that and do a much better job and I am not that good.
How do you really feel? .... And I'm getting tired of hearing all these 'guitar players' say 'I could do better' ... Could you? Then do it .. post it somewhere or shut up. The guy had a bad night .. I say he's entitled to one or two in a stellar career that you will never, in your wildest dreams, come close to.

Let's just ban you from posting, that would be more productive.

That's a great idea! Post your version on the Youtube and let that do the talking if you think you can do better.

The fire wasnt part of the show, his pickups on the guitar caught fire, and the pickup cover was falling off... This made the notes sound way out of tune at times, if you watch the video he reaches down and pulls the cover off and throws it at 1:30 min in. Aside from the technical problems it was pretty basic and he was still fucking it up lol...

I still have my KISS Double Platinum 2-record set with the silver fold-out platinum cover.
Man, people today are missing out with those little cd booklets.

Just thought I would add to the awesomeness of this thread.

Okay, so the fire was planned....But there was still a problem with the pickups, and anytime that happens it makes it impossible to hold a note in tune.

Since this thread is still going, I'm going with it. Dude, I don't think you've ever touched a guitar. His pick ups had nothing to do with it. Pick up have nothing do with keeping a note. That guitar has three pick ups, the first is replaced with the fire pot. What I think you saw was the flap he pulls to ignite it. He also has something hooked up to the tone knobs to ignite either the smoke or the fire. Still a fan though. If I can figure out how to post a video I will. Got garagband and video cam. I'm not doing it unless I get direct sound. BTW this thread may keep going if Ace plays at ever Supercross.

I liked seeing Ace play, even if it wasn't perfect.

It looked to me like some smart ass passersby messed with his settings. That's probably why he got so much feedback right at the start, and he looked like he shit himself... Then started turning the dials down.

Personally, I hate it when guitarists and vocalists jack off on the Star Spangled Banner.

It was just bad. Period. Your national anthem, when sung as it was meant to be, without someone putting their own spin or signature on it, is such a beautiful anthem-why can't people just sing the fucking thing? Never mind some dippy pop star trying to re-invent the song. If you can't do it justice, don't do it. And don't hire someone who wants to do it that way.
