SMX points will not count towards 2024 numbers. So you will have to do the list again, with removing SMX points.

This changed on Friday.

Wow really? Thanks for the update. I will update sometime soon!

If, like me, you are curious about what effect this decision has on the standings, so I did a recalculation to see who is most impacted.

- It sounds like Chase Sexton will move to a single digit #4 next year when he debuts on the KTM (and Jett and Hunter both say they’re keeping their current #18 and #96).

-New permanent numbers will be Levi Kitchen and Haiden Deegan. We expect Deegan to take #38 and Kitchen has expressed interest in #10 but Justin Brayton is going to hang on to that so we're hearing #47 will be his pick for 2024 but maybe #20?

SML Show this morning just said Chad Reed asked to keep #22

Out for an injury is 1 thing but Chad has not raced in 3 years. It should not be reserved.

Has he given a justification for keeping #22?  I skimmed the show but couldn't find the discussion.

In the back of my mind I keep asking, "Why does he care?" According to him everybody just wants to do WSX.

When I was listening it was more talking about people that had requested to keep there numbers and didn't give reasons.

They said #10 Brayton, #19 Bogle, and #22 had requested to keep was what they were hearing. I agree Chad shouldn't be keeping his number again with no racing in the works.

They said #16 Osborne and #20 Tickle sounds like it is up and available. Kitchen may take #20 or #47.

It seems almost unbelievable that Deegan scored in the top five of all points awarded. He wasn't even sure he was going to turn pro this year. I know he is very polarizing, but man he is for real and has a huge fan base!

"Dear Chad...  regarding your petition, we've decided you are able to keep using the #22.  However, we're going to place it back in rotation for AMA SMX events for use by someone else.  Should you decide to return to AMA events, we will make sure you receive an honorary number that represents past champions and we will do our best to provide for your branding and recognition.  Thanks and have a great day Mate!"

Will do, and for anyone wondering, I will start it after the finale to give an outlook at the points situation and what the numbers would be if it ended after Supercross. Cheers!!
