I just got denied for my round of life insurance shopping because of my motorcycle racing. I was wondering if any of you have plans that cover racers. I am a healthy 28 year old male, and that was the only reason they denied me.

Thanks,

Rob

Can they prove that it's that dangerous? like what percentage of moto riders actually die racing moto?

As a financial advisor I sell life insurance and have it on myself and other racers. Every company views hobbies and health reasons differently. Feel free to PM me and I can give you more detail and might be able to help you out.

You need to shop some other companies. I spent a few years with Prudential and we would have covered you, but you would have to pay a rated up premium. Another way to go is, you might be able to buy an accidental death and dismemberment policy. some of these don't ask too many questions....Then, when you quit racing ,you can get a regular plan.

I've never had any of them ask.

With a standard life insurance company there is ALWAYS a question ln the application about dangerous activities such as skydiving, scuba diving, racing, etc and if you choose to mislead them they will never pay the death claim

What if a person doesn't actually "race" but still rides "off-road" which could include a track now and then?

It all depends on how the insurance company ask the question.

Do you participate in any of these hobbies: snowmobiles, motorcycles, etc.? Here you would have to say yes.
Do you race cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles, etc.? No

I'm actually looking for life insurance right now, can I PM you?

I hate to tell you this, but every accidental death claim is investigated before the claim is paid, so, be very careful how you answer the questions. If they determine that you do race, and have raced a motorcycle in the past they will not be likely to pay. They are not easy to fool. Just sayin.!

I went with a Accident & Disability policy from an "extreme sports" company run by a freestyle dude.
They did not allow you to race or even ride on a motocross track for practice.

After 2-3 years I dropped it. I wonder why I bothered at all with it.

I had a one million dollar policy in 2000 thru 03 that paid if I died racing. Dont recall the cost but the peace of mind it gave was priceless.

What about term life policy's through your employer? I have a large policy at a pretty good price. I have to register a proof of insurability and all it asks is height/weight/ ssn and some other identity basics. Should i be concerned about it not paying out in the event of a racing accident?

I would not be concerned with your group coverage.

That is kind of what I was talking about. I just switched companies and I had an evidence of insurability form with all that basic stuff but no questions. I think I have an Aflac accident policy out there too. No telling what the wife has on me. I catch her looking at me funny every now and then. I think she is plotting on me.

I got another email stating that I had an underwriter approve my insurance, and I will get the final quote in 10 days. It was confusing with the first message I got, because they made it seem like I was denied because of a bold "MOTORCYCLE RACING".

Panic_Rev, I appreciate you reaching out to me. I will keep this in mind and I might want to go through a quote with you anyways to see how it compares to the company I originally went for. I went through Zander to find the Life Insurance Company, and the best rates came from Banner Life.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm sure something will work out, and I would rather pay a little extra to have them know exactly what I do, so God forbid something ever happens, I know my wife and family will be taken care of.

The first message I got sounded like they were denying coverage, but after really reading it, and then getting a much clearer second email a few hours later, I found they will have a final price in 10 days. I responded to Panic_Rev in an earlier message, but thank you for PMing me, and I would like to know what you think of Zander Insurance Group and Banner Life.
Thanks,
Rob

This is another option I was looking at. I can get a $290,000 plan through my work that has no limitations about motorcycles for about $250 a year.

Hey,

Just thought I'd put this out there for all UK motocross riders who are looking for motocross injury insurance; life insurance, income protection, fracture cover or even a comprehensive accident plan, visit this website for the best cover:

https://www.quotesportsinsurance.co.uk/motorsport-injury-insurance/moto…

Definitely worth looking into

They didn’t ask me on either of my policies. You would think most people who ride consistently live longer than if they didn’t ride at all.

This was a good reminder to read my policies because I bet there’s all kinds of disclaimers regarding what they won’t cover.
